A lot of features I've seen on separate pedals all in one place. I always liked KMAs Guardian of the Wurm for its ability to have a less compressed setting, especially handy for lower tunings and baritones, so having the modern and classic mode is perfect. The ability to sweep mids is super useful especially as that tends to be the more subjective side of things when it comes to HM-2 clones and peoples opinion. I see lots of modern players want a lower frequency mid boost to thicken up a sound without it being muddy, and this allows for that, while also making an even more extreme upper mid push possible. Lots of people have added gates but Lichtlaerm's is a great one so thats a great addition. I haven't seen anyone else give pre-gain bass control, but man I wish more pedal manufacturers put that on their gain pedals.

KMA's Guardian of the Wurm would've been an excellent pedal, if their gate actually gated (cut) the signal, instead of adding more noise to the signal chain when used with a dirty amp. This is one of the biggest miss-steps in recent pedal history, if you ask me.

@@lichtlaermaudio yeah you need to call in Dome when demoing these style pedals. You guys are both cool in my book. Thinking of getting a King in Yellow soon myself. :-)

Hey Dome ! ! Great gear and catchy video as always. I cant wait to see how Medusa its going to rock on your stacked! section.
It would be great to hear the classic Medusa stacked in pararell with the old references that any of Us your amateurs followers already have, like the oldschool and lowbudget Deathmetal, Eyemaster, DS1, fullbore, MZ2. You can have there a couple of chapter and all of us we are going to addictibly see it.
It sound like the rescue TV program which make a homeless man to shower, work the hair and put him on a sharp dress.
And I hear thats what Medusa make to the gears that look her at the eye. It is written in greek.
    MTFBWY !!!!!!!

I had to come back to see this video as I just received mine about an hour ago. There's pretty massive vol jump on modern vs classic, and it appears to be the same on yours so I assume normal function. Leon Todd's demo looks to be run differently using send and return, but I didn't notice is jump there. It's fine since that's not something that you are gonna dynamically switch at any point. Yet to put it through its paces, but I'm excited to see what it can do in my rig.

Hey @DomeNightbearer, thanks again for your Aesahaettr/King in Yellow comparison video!
I have a kind of similar question regarding this (Medusa) and Lichtlaerm's standalone noise gate (The Key and The Gate). I saw the vid of Daniel explaining all their pedals and he mentioned the entire K&G is incorporated into the Medusa, but I noticed that K&G is 4-cable while the Medusa is not (side plugs are only for pedal blend with or clean blend without right?).
How do these two compare? Is the K&G better with the 4-cable method? Can the Medusa be shut off completely and only be used for its noise gate? Wondering if I should get both for different use cases or that getting both would be a complete waste of money.
    Thanks in advance.

Another great one! It will be great to check how this does against the KMA Wurm2 for the most feature packed HM2 version

Absolutely knocked it out of the park.Jammed with features,a reasonable size and cheaper than many much bigger units with far more aggressive claims. Sadly my local stock sold quick but im definately getting one of there when they restock. A prosthetic thumb and a real one raised for Lichtlaerm! :)

Thanks for the review but I need some advice: I can't decide between the Medusa and KMA Wurm 2, gotta get one of these before the year ends for some recording and live shows. Guess the Medusa is a winner because it has more knobs options and the gate helps reduce unwanted noise, but the Wurm don't know why I think sounds "better" as a hm-2 style distortion. If you could pick only one, which one would it be? Thanks in advance for the help!

    • @DomeNightbearer
      @DomeNightbearer  Рік тому +1

Since I haven't played both side by side I can't give you an unbiased opinion. Memories of the Medusa are fresher.
Ultimately I would opt for the better sounding pedal (for recordings) but for live I think I'd choose the Medusa because of the blend and the integrated gate.

It’s because we kinda want to have our US customers buy our stuff at EMS: cheaper, free shipping and you have local service 🙂
(Also our shop system doesn’t offer an “add/remove VAT” option 😑)
