Good evening! So amazing this inspection at Tower of London, we rarely can see; another place to explore. Nice to meet a Beefeater! Thank you very much for taking us around London, through your videos!!
As a former guardsman myself, I think the decision to allow soldiers to grow full beards was an extremely bad one. Especially for the guards and cavalry units, it looks very scruffy indeed and takes away from the smartness expected
I've been watching these superb videos for a year now and the Guards and the Troopers look magnificent but the beards and moustaches (a few of the Troopers) look scruffy to me also and out of keeping with their carriage and their uniforms.
@jonnys654 , totally agree with you it looks bloody awful I'm not sure if it's to do with all the woke rubbish but there is definitely a decline in the guards and household cavalry.
i honestly love the allowance of facial hair again, although i do agree it can look scruffy/unprofessional on occasion. maybe some rules on keeping one’s facial hair well shaped, trimmed, and maintained would help? i do think full beards can look great on a soldier, as long as theyre properly cared for lol
I’m undecided. I definitely think it looks weird on horse guards, but with foot guards it reminds me of those pictures from the Crimea where it was mandatory.
Yes, it reminded me of the Ceremony of the Keys, from Last Continent. Especially when the Keeper of the Other Jacket steps forward for it to be patted down looking for the Archchancellor's keys...
@ good point. he’s probably a full sergeant but in the Brigade of Guards this used to be termed as Lance Sergeant, but referred to as ‘Sergeant’, if that makes sense? The Brigade have their own ways of doing things as apart from other regiments in the British Army. In any event a very smart turn out and great to see.
Still undecided about beards; I was talking to my next door neighbour who is in the Army Commandos and he's undecided too. I think they look quite smart but I always thought that it was something about gas masks. I might be wrong
The Army originally banned beards in 1916 for hygiene reasons, but yes with the development of better fitting respirators it was required to shave in order to form a seal. I don’t believe that’s the case now, but I’m not 100%.
No, it's one of the things showing which regiment he belongs to (along with other details such as the collar badges and button arrangement on the red tunics). These soldiers are from the Welsh Guards (as mentioned above).
What I noticed most is the respect the public have for the Guardsmen. Unlike in some other locations.👍👍👍👍👍 for the public.
I guess the entry fee skims off some of the plebs.
It's so nice to see the old traditions being carried on at the tower of London
Glad you enjoyed watching! Isn’t it just wonderful 🙏
@@TheKingsGuardsChannel it was indeed I love the old traditions the military uphold long may they keep them
The Yeoman warder is handing over the password to the Officer of the Guard for the next 24 hours,
WOW 😲 nice to know. Thank you
It alternates between "password" and "qwerty"
Thank-you for showing this different to what is normally shown

Agreed.

I enjoy these videos, and I applaud the Yeoman, the unsung heroes keeping everything in working order!
"YEOMAN REMINDS GUARD TO DO HIS JOB"? That routine at King's House is possibly centuries old.
Yes, it reminded me of the Ceremony of the Keys, from Last Continent. Especially when the Keeper of the Other Jacket steps forward for it to be patted down looking for the Archchancellor's keys...
I really appreciate the different places you find to film. Some explanation about what is happening would be great.
Really wonderful work and selute to all the royal guard
Happy you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching 🇬🇧👏
Nice to see the beards are back.
Very impressive.
It would be so nice to get a glimpse of the inside palace. What the guards do inside. When do these guards get to eat or drink.
The guard opening the gate,I wonder if he noticed the bottom of his trouser leg was inside his boot.
Get rid of them bloody beards.
oops the sgt is going to be having a word with that corporal for not being ready for the next bit
Due your duty the Tower of London and my dad is a Royal Marine Commando!
"do"
It's too your duty.
What is the meaning of the guard with red stripe on his pants leg n the guard with the red sash?? This is a very nice video 👏❤
He’s is a Company Sergeant Major
Broad red stripe on trousers are officer dress, red sash signifies sergeant rank.
And these soldiers are members of the Welsh Guards.
@@brucklay227Not often see a WO2 on guard. And wouldn’t a CSM carry a pace stick, not a rifle? Unless you know better?

Second
Presumably the feather duster stuck in his bearskin denotes rank ?

@mistofoles , it's a sprig not a duster.
Feather Duster, it's a Hackle.
@geoffreynolds8835 , that's right for some reason I called it a sprig getting mixed up when the Irish guards get a sprig on St Patrick's day.
