I love my curly ends! I also use CONDITIONER EVERY-TIME I shampoo my locs. My hair is curly, and the only time they pop and break, is because of a lack of conditioner. If you have breached hair, colored hair, I condition mines and I don't suffer any snapping , popping or breakage! Wear your hair any way you want 😊😊😊

That's what my Loctician recommended for me to do as well. I'm just enjoying the journey and the look! 🤗

I’m about to be one year loc’d. I’ve been intentionally keeping my curly ends as well and plan to keep them as long as possible. I condition them and put olaplex on them to keep them strong. Do you boo!

I’m seriously considering doing my own since they are sooooooooo expensive to get done! You’re giving me hope that I can do it!

I have been wanting locs for a year now, I just want to keep my curly ends. I would do it myself but my hands just not ready.

I wish I knew. There seem to be as many hair rules in the loc community as there were in the natural hair community. My perspective is definitely on the far opposite end. I love my curly ends. It wasn't until I got my sisterlocks established that I was able to enjoy them because in their loose natural state they were always a frizzy mess. I will be enjoying my loose curly ends until I no longer want to be bothered, then I will let them do what they do.

I'm new to the microloc/loc community but I'll try to sunmarise the curly ends issue the best I can.
    1) Before locs became a popular hairstyle, the focus of locs was more spiritual, if you think of Rastafarianism, and the Nazarite vow that Samson had with God in the Bible, both traditions relate not cutting hair to having spiritual power. To the purists, the journey of locs is to know and accept yourself, to learn discipline etc, not try to conform to a specific look or beauty standard. So they feel that the fixation on curly ends, the practice of combing the ends out just to maintain a look, that really has no place in a spiritual loc journey.

Ahh ok so that’s based on those who loc their hair for spiritual purposes. Thank you!

      2) The second issue is texturism, the idea of good hair vs bad hair. We all know that in the Black community, curly hair is generally seen as "better" than kinky textured hair, and for some it feels like this is creeping into the loc community too with the focus on curly ends. Some people go into the loc journey with specific expectations of how their hair will look and get disappointed when they don't get curly ends, rather than just enjoying the journey. It implies that hair that isn't curly is somehow not good enough.
My own opinion is that there's nothing wrong with doing locs as a style, it isn't a spiritual journey for everyone. But I do think a loc/natural hair journey goes so much better when you focus on self-acceptance than a specific idea of how your hair "should" look.
