Materials:
Lollipop stick - for creating thread tube
Beads - for creating spool bearing (available in Daiso or any other kids beads toy)
Cloth hanger - for creating tension arms
Braided main line - for tying steel tension arm and thread tube to create a collar
Super glue - for securing the knot
Nail polish - white and clear (touch up and coat the knot)
Lighter - to create the thread tube tip
Long nose fliers - for cutting
Scissor- for cutting
Coping saw - for cutting

Made these. Used plastic Q-tips for the tubing. The plastic tubing kept cutting and freying the thread. So purchased some 3/32" brass tubing. A short piece of heat shrink to hold the brass tubing onto the bobbin until I can wrap it with thread.

I slightly melted the tip of the plastic to remove the sharp edges and after that I never had experience of breaking the thread. Your diy will work well too.
