My Dad was a farmer and cabinet maker. He held in high regard those who could do with their hands. Among his friends were carvers, machinists , gunsmiths, and luthiers. He would truly appreciate your videos. As I do. Thank you.
could watch your stuff for hours, besides the learning experience, your style is a great stress reliever because of your reassuring, simplistic approach. very well done!
My favourite channel, if I could only just watch one , it would be yours . The calm easily listening of your editing makes it my go to evening meditation . The most inspirational series by far on the Tube , greatly appreciated my friend and please stay in there. Barry
I'm a bit behind times, but just watched this... Excellent! I've got stainless wire, pliers, and with your video, the knowledge. I'll bend one up in the morning. Thanks.
video clear and concise as always. i almost forgot how the whip finisher works, so now i can make that small tool to help me in my tying jobs.i am always glad i subscribed to the channel. thanks, paul
Mate, great vid. Simple, fast, resourceful! I wasn't able to get stainless tig rod but used a wire coat hanger which turned out just as good, especially for the beginner. I also added an old handle from a brass auto centre punch and held the wire in with rubber lumo beads which is great since it turns and provides tension also. Good job mate and thanks for the inspiration!
Class clip as ever Paul, you are a talent and love the style of the video intro, crisp and evocative, as many have said well done and keep them coming fella.
Awesome video sir, I'm very glad you posted it or i may not have found your channel! I had just searched for whip finish tool for my fly tying and lo and behold a treasure trove of lure making videos! keep up the good work and definitely subscribed and shared!
muchas gracias Paul. sigo siempre tus videos. la semana pasada queria hacer una whip finishing tool, gracias por ahorrarme el trabajo de ponerme a investigar =P
nice one ! i'm not into flyfishing but do make lures, and i've seen that whip knot come by in several vids and never really got me head 'round it. So cheers ;) !
Sebastian Villa this is a bobbin holder i make a few different kinds of these some with brass tube and a very basic one which i used for a long time. This video is one of the first videos i made so you can see they have improved ua-cam.com/video/mYZhsRJ4amM/v-deo.html
Just out of curiosity, why not mount the through-wire you're working on in your fly vise? Or is it just to demonstrate that only a few tools are necessary to make lures?
I would not normally mount the wire in the vise as I find it is simpler and quicker to do it by hand but for demonstration purposes it is a little easier to show the action of the tool. Thanks
