- This is an interview of Sharvan, Indian student from Kerala doing his master. He is sharing his experience on how to apply for a student visa, the accommodation after reaching here.

Hi, A lot of things are happening because people do not really know the admission process and other things related to admissions in Institutions in France and also because most of the details about French institutes are provided in French in the official websites.
1. Normally for public institutes/universities in France, there are no specific admission tests. Same case with top ranked management institutes like INSEAD, HEC Paris, ESSEC etc. Private institutes like IMT Business school, EM Strasbourg etc has formed a consortium to conduct an entrance exam of sorts for International students. You may register for these tests online. No need to go through an agency
2. Students who are coming to France generally arrive on a long-term student visa. Once you arrive in France on a student visa, it is mandatory that you go to the OFII office and get it changed to residence permit. The OFII process generally takes about 2-3 months. In Paris it generally takes a bit longer. The French government has taken steps to simplify this process a bit starting from this year with an online system.

The residence permit is required for working in France as well as travelling to other countries in the Schengen area.
3. Students are allowed to legally work for upto 60% of the regular working hours (ie. upto 964 hours in a year). The minimum wages is 10.03€/hr gross or about 7.5€/hr net.
4.. Finding accomodation in Paris is quite difficult. Public universities have access to student residences managed by the government which tend to be quite cheaper. Private institutes generally cannot benefit from this option and you would have to find accomodation on your own mostly.

Congratulations.. I just checked their website since it is not our field I cannot be 💯 sure but I would highly recommend you to check if the institute is recognized by the French gov, check how international it is (are the classes in English etc ) .. send them mails etc.
