Hey I hope you enjoy this video! This Allis 416 with composter is an interesting machine! I've never seen one before, let me know if you have down below!
asus12351 - $700 is a bit high unless it’s in mint shape. But need model #, no cracks in the tires, no smoke upon start up, seat is crack free and battery in new then $700 is a fair price. Also make sure the front PTO work well
Very interesting! Four years ago I found a new old stock Might Mac shredder which I use to shred my leaves. It was designed for John Deere 100, 200 and 300 series tractors. I have mine on my my John Deere 112 and 216. Maybe that was Allis' answer for competing with John Deere and Mighty Mac?? Those ground up leaves make the best mulch and really help my lawn stay healthy and looking great.
When I first saw that I thought that would seriously be the coolest attachment and I need my own, then after I saw it get used, it seemed a little disappointing to say the least. Oh well. Thanks for showing it off!
I've used plenty of these types of mulchers over the years and have found that the smoother the metal is on the intake side, the better the material is drawn in. I use car wax in the chute area to make it as slick as possible. The AC composter in your video was painfully slow. Cool unit though.
Hey Norman. Already did leaves 3 times here in Michigan. We don't compost though. Blow the flower beds out, mow/mulch, sweep then burn them. Probably 2 more times this year. Nice AC but would be nice to be able to have a FEL on it.
cool never saw one of those composting attachment will you be making onan performer 18 rebuild kits our skid loader needs rebuilt it drinks oil and has low compression from years of use we use it to clean out manure and we gp through lots of oil thanks again Norman love the videos keep em coming
I loved this video along with the rest of your videos. I followed your loader build and built one for my case 442 hydraulic drive tractor awhile back. I had a quick question though if you have time. I am having trouble with steering ability. The tractor is very hard to steer. I since gutted the old gear on gear steering and upgraded to a ross steering with thrust washer mod. It did help but not to the point I was expecting. Have you had similar issues with front end weight making steering troublesome? Would a large amount of counter weight on the rear help enough to make steering efficient again? Any input would be much appreciated.
Oh yes add as much weight as you can behind the rear axle. The steering difference is night and day. I have 300 lbs on my Ford Tractor with Loader and the Cub Cadet TLB has a 400lb backhoe on the back
@@Isavetractors Ok Awesome! I am going to build a ripper attachment off the rear box hitch. I will add some weight to it and see what happens. Thanks for the info and keep up the amazing work on the videos!
You should look up a macsic shreader for early Simplicity/Allis Chalmers tractors. Was planning on firing it up but I'm working weekends and the october engine show was canceled this year so I never dug out the vacuum unit or shredder but is still on my mind🤔
MacKissic made a rear mount chipper shredder for that style tractor (IH had them make one for them as well) Those are versions of the 59M and 79M and they will eat most anything.
I have one with a Briggs that replaced the Tecumseh, its awesome, i could definitely set it up for a front or rear PTO but ever since i discovered Hugelkulture, i have been doing much less reduction and more using all wood, weeds, wildflowers, and earth for building walls to not see or hear my ignorant neighbors.
would love to see you build/ fabricate your own towable forkift for your lawn tractors with a fork lift boom but rest made by hand with winch or hydraulic lifting and winch to tilt the boom back, Thanks for the great videos keep up the great work!
I have a small wood/small tree branch chipper, it's not worth the effort or the money I paid for it. The one thing it's really good at is yard leaves; I would mow the grass and leaves into a three bag bagger with three plastic containers, not the open mesh type although you could use the mesh type. The chipper has a adjustable feeder chute that will lay flat on the ground so you can rake leaves into it. Trying to rake leaves into it is almost impossible but it will pull/suck them it eventually, again not worth the effort. The solution is using the bagger to do a ruff first cut then dump the bagged leaves in front of the chipper chute and shove them in with a shovel or a small rake. I would attach the chipper bag to the exit chute to collect the chiped leaves and place the fine chiped leaves in my garden. The leaves were chiped so small that they would practically decompose by spring time.
there is a craftsman gt6000 hydro for 45 dollars on an online auction that i bought from before should i bid on it i heard you in the last video tal;king about them they are ok or cheap it looks nice and it has a 46inch deck
I have a 2003 Craftsman gt5000 22 hp with 6 speed hi/lo range. 50 inch deck. Electric pto for deck. Runs great, never an issue. Drive and deck belts wear out every 3 to 4 years. The 3 belts are inexpensive. The gt5000 might be a good deal. Also for leaves if I back over them the blades really shred the leaves.
I have a mid 80s stand alone mulched with a tecumseh 5hp. I want to ditch the engine and install it on my Ford 120 or my Sears suburban 12. Any ideas for a mule
Hi Norman, I finally placed an order with you lol. Just a plug and a awesome beanie for now. More orders coming soon! But Question : 😂. So my lgt 165 has the 3 point mounting capability. But, on old tractors they have the pto or opening to slide the say..... Implement shaft inside. My lgt doesn't have that part. Does that mean it's only meant for implements that don't need to spin? Just dragging implements? Sorry, I'm new to this stuff.
Yes correct. You can use box blades, rakes, forks, discs, cultivators and many others. The only rotating attachment that machine could really handle is a rear tiller. Thanks for your business!
My name is Chris and was curious to know if you have ever done any videos on the 800 series Gravely Garden Tractor at all yet, if not I would like to see video either 1 being restored or just showing how it operates.
Smoother slicker sides and blades with wing's like a lawnmower would work to create vacuum effect to help pull the leaves down. Still very cool and chops them up into a great mulch. Just needs a little help to feed better.
Does the lgt 165 have a oil filter? And when I order my new carb.... Is the carb in the kit with the gaskets ect the same as the carb by itself on your website? And are both carbs aftermarket? And is there a rebuild kit for my original carb? Thanks. I know that's alot, but I need to know before I place my order. I'll call if necessary
The LGT has an inline transmission filter. The gasket set includes the carb gaskets. The parts we sell are iSaveTractors. We only have carb kits for our carbs and the original Carter carbs. Not for Walbro made carbs. Please call or email if you have any further questions for more detailed answers
Cool old tractor and as always Norm, a great video but seriously?? The shredder is not only a trip to the emergency room waiting to happen but the average lawn mower with mulching blades and a chute dam will turn leaves into dust while your mowing the lawn ... no extra work trying to coax leaves into a tiny hand remover ... lol
It's a cool attachment, but I think a track vac or a whatever they call the generic brand would be a little easier to make compost and take it to where you want it and dump it, but it's still cool!
It seems like you are missing something. This setup does not allow for a vacuum to be pulled. Maybe a design flaw from the time. I have a 71 314D that I have been enjoying with the help of your parts. Please tell me where I can get a fuel tank like that.
I eventually want to get one of these little tractors but the only set back is that it doesn't have the ability to lift the fenders like other allis and simplicity garden tractors
Nice tractor but the compactor is too slow get mulching blades and mulch and spread in one pass but you do have my attention on the B 110 you talked about in your last video that was my first tractor and I made the mistake of selling it yes I save the tractors
I thought I saw a Homelite in his last graveyard video. Homelite's were Allis-Chalmers tractors until 1978 at which point they were re-branded Jacobsen's.
'"This tractor according to tractordata weighs about 850 pounds". Well tractor data must be wrong because it says that a cub cadet 982 weighs 875 pounds! WHAT??? And a a Cub Cadet 982 is a Muuuuuuch larger tractor than that AC 416.
i have a JD 316 and a AC416... I need to build a see saw to demonstrate that the AC416 cant be 850lbs. I love them both, I like my AC416 because it came with a rear lift set up, something that would cost 500$ on a JD.
Probably the same amount of time too, but i would have saved this implement as well. I have a mighty mac chipper shredder that runs on a Briggs that replaced the Tecumseh, but id love to mount it on one of my tractors.

The mighty Mac chipper/shredder is the same way, although it feeds better. I’ve bought 3, and not one had much wear.
Watching this made me want to try the belly blower I have for the Powermax. It’s too bad we aren’t neighbors. 🤠

Makes sense, just like a chute for a blower or snowcaster
I love that Allis Chalmers and that composter I'm more of a Sears guy but I would not mind having one someday.
I didn’t know they made such a thing. Thanks for sharing my friend.👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
I've been waiting for this video for like 2 years. I'll be ordering parts for mine soon.
