Those mallets are good for most passages though I didn't really like them on the dampened section. A lot of the duplets had a little too much space in them and locked in with the other parts where they shouldn't have. I understand it's confusing as all hell hearing all parts; I'm playing part II for my studio's performance in April. I do like how all three players moved together, especially leading into m. 35. I pretty much do the same thing: get out the way ASAP! Well done!
We used latex-wrapped mallets made by Encore. 15LR on bass, 13LR on middle, and 12LR in the lead.
The marimba is a 5-octave Yamaha
