- The third annual Texas Backpacker UA-cam meetup is in the books!
It was a cold and damp time in Davis Mountains State Park; but the great companionship, awesome photos, and collective content creation made for an amazing outing.
It’s been a busy year for me work-wise, so it felt real good to be out there hiking, taking photos, and stretching out my filmmaking legs again. WOW! Saying this was awesome seems like a feeble attempt at letting you know how great this video really is. My wife said twice she felt like she was watching a PBS special and your narration was captivating. Michelle asked what you do for a living and said you missed your calling. I'm sure we will watch again my friend.

I feel like I missed my calling as well. I’m a hydrologist in my day job and am lucky enough to enjoy my work! But my office has a tiny window where I can see the Franklin mountains teasing me as I grind away in my cubicle haha.
I’m making the most of it now, and I get a deep satisfaction of being on trail and sharing it with others. Knowing others enjoy the content really warms the soul.
I am looking forward to our next adventure Tony!
Loved the video, Chuco. Lots of narration in this one. You got some amazing shots. Im glad you're willing to haul your camera gear around. And that you have the patience to capture these great shots. The early morning vista shots were epic.
You are the only person who has been at every day of every year of these meetups! Always enjoy hiking with you. Hope to get together on another trip again next year!

We need another good and hard trip! The PT on my Achilles is starting to kick in, and I’m itching to start hitting trails hard again.
I can't even begin to tell ya how much I appreciate the calm artistic element to your videos. That bokeh you captured with your telephoto lens on those dew drops was absolutely incredible! Fantastic job!
Thank you so much, this really warms the heart to read! I always wonder if people will like the photography part of the videos, and I’m still trying to figure out the best way to incorporate outdoor photography into my videos.
I have scrapped so many ideas that I started just because they weren’t coming together well, but reading comments like these really help me know that I’m doing something right :)

This was absolutely breathtaking! I wish the night skies could have been clearer so you could have worked your magic with them but that morning on the vista overlook made for the money shot. Keep on moving my friend!✌️

Again amazing pictures! Really enjoyed the one where it appears the mountains were islands in the ocean. Every time we're around Big Bend we always stop there but we usually stay across the way in the main camp area, we have yet to make the hike to the primitive camp sites. Maybe next time I can convince the family to make the hike.
That was my first time to the park, I definitely need to go back though! Those backcountry sites were easy to get to, so hopefully you can convince the family 🙂
The main camp area was nice too, and the toilets were well kept which is always a bonus haha.
I appreciate the compliments on the photos, that picture of the mountain islands is definitely my favorite from the trip. I need to figure out how to post such a large pano on Instagram, and maybe get a print of at least a part of it. Thanks for watching!
I think I’ve watched every one of these trip report videos, and one thing I love watching is how each of you capture key moments and put your own perspectives on them. That cottonwood canyon around 13:00 looks just as pretty in every shot.
That canyon was awesome, it really popped with those fall colors. Wish you could have joined us with your own perspective, you’ll have to not break your ankle before next year’s gathering 😂
Seriously though, you know you’re always invited to these and I’m glad to see your recovery progressing. I can’t imagine how nice it must’ve been to get back on trail for you, just keep at it and we will be adventuring together before you know it!
