Aren't dogs just the greatest companions. Last year my wife and I lost our little terrier who was a little over 14 due to probably a brain tumor which was causing her to have seizures. It was sad and very difficult to go through since we don't have any children and she's all that we had. We must have been blessed somehow because just 3 months later we were presented with a rare opportunity to adopt another terrier which looked very similar to the one that we lost. We did and he has turned out to be a really kind and gentle dog. We saved him and he saved us.
I know of some good free places to boondock with wonderful views not far from the state park, but I don't want the world to hear about them. What a sweet dog.
God, I can remember when Angie was a young dog!! We stayed in Dead Horse state park last year. Very nice park!! We also took a day trip to Jerome. No place to park so we didn’t get to stop in the cliff hanging town. We started over the mountain that tight S turn mountain road. Several bikes were coming down the mountain with significant speed. I tried to move over to give them plenty of room to keep them off the edge of the mountain. We cut the side wall out of a truck tire on a chunk of rock that had rolled off the mountain. Had a hell of a time finding a place to get off the road enough to change the tire. Ended up going over the mountain to Prescott to find a tire store to get a replacement late on a Saturday afternoon. Not one of our finer moment!! As beautiful as Sedona is, we really felt that it was a good place to avoid due to over crowding. Beautiful country that has been spoiled by too many people. Great job as always, Ray!!!
happy belated birthday to the beagle dog Angie.. had a beagle when younger the are fun!! nice perspective on sites with sat view and maps.. good info for sure .
You did another great job. Angie is doing very good for being older than me, in dog years. A reflection of the care and love you make sure she gets. Thanks again Ray for sharing your camping sites.
Stayed there in 2015, that ridge you hiked up every night for about an hour during sunset a guy was up there playing the bag pipes, very cool. Nice video.
Ray if you have time you need to drive over to CampVerde Saturday 3/17 for the pecan and wine festival. They have an “old time” baseball game to see. Thanks for all your informative videos. Gary Stewart
Thanks for the tip Gary, but we have already split, headed back down to the warmer weather at Quartzsite. Great time to visit, barely anyone here. :) Sounds like a pretty cool event though. :) Cheers!
Great video. I'm always happy to see Angie in your videos. Sedona has also a very beautiful RV park (Rancho Sedona) in a quiet area of the city, directly at the creek, and within walking distance to the tourist areas of Sedona.
Thanks, she is doing pretty good for her age, 15 is at the high end of the breed expected lifespan. Must be the low stress of full-time RVing. ;) Cheers, Ray
Thanks Angie & Ray for that great information! Didn’t warm up fast enough this year for us, as were moving east now back to Illinois. We may see you as we travel the north east this summer? Safe travels to you and Anne. Cheers!
Hey Ray. Well just another great video with so much information. I really enjoy your videos and look forward to heading west and staying at some of the locations you have told us about. Happy Birthday Angie!!
Ray, sure enjoyed a very informative vid. Sounds like the wife and I have found a place to go next winter. Love Angie the Beagle! We had Al(a notorious Beagle) the direct opposite of Angle's temperament. Safe travels!
Jerome is a old copper mining town. The mine is under the town, and the streets are very steep and laid out switch back style. Lots of great places to eat. Worth the trip but your right, don’t take the RV. Class B probably OK. Love you old pup, hope she has many more trips to take.
Sweet Angie, Happy Birthday 🎉 To think Roger stepped all over your bed !! We are privileged to have met you. Thank you Ray for this excellent Video and the Boondocking,- Forest link,, so precious and helpful. Hope Old Blue made it up ok on that long 6% grade hill. I am honored to have cross the Love Your RV path at this beautiful setting. :-0)
👍Very helpful camp map info with the map. I love Sedona & have been making annual visits every year usually around October but it’s changing so much every year with all of the building and people. Thanks for sharing. 💞
👍It’s so nice to have you share the camping info because I’ve always seen the signs but I usually stay at the Enchantment Resort when I’m in Sedona (I don’t have an RV...yet) but have always wondered about the camping spots & if they were nice.
Happy Birthday Angie the Beagle! We love Doggies. We have 4 little ones and our world revolves around them! Great videos. We have a class A so they really help us where and not where to go. Thanks. Brian & Patty
Great video, such beautiful sites. Angie looks good for 15. Happy birthday 🎂🐶 My dad used to hunt rabbit so he always had a beagle he kept in a pen in the back yard. One time he bought a female and it was my job to go outside and feed her. Her name was Cindy and my dad got the biggest kick outta telling me, ‘hey Cyndi, go out and feed Cindy!’ Many more birthdays to you Angie!🐶
Dead Horse Ranch is one our favorite places. We stay there occasionally since it's a nice first day's drive from our home in Casa Grande. It's a good base for visiting Sedona, Jerome, and Tuzigoot.
Damn Ray, I just missed you in Sedona, we were probably there the same time, nice camping off Rey Butte Rd. Off 89A outside Sedona....scouted a few sites for when we return
Thanks for a great, informative video. One question: you mention steep grades heading north to Dead Horse Ranch State Park. How steep are they? I just Googled it, and found a site where it mentions 6% grades. We are fine with that, but if the grades get much worse, we would think of cancelling our planned trip to Dead Horse Ranch State Park. Our truck slows right down when we get to 8% or more. Thanks.
Check out this page - www.mountaindirectory.com/sample/arizona.html Look at the #10 triangles t will give you the info on the I17 grades. It's Interstate so they stay around 6% max. Our truck was pretty old 1994 and weak cooling fan so had issues. Our new Ram 6.7 Cummins would fly up them. :) Cheers, Ray
I don't remember climbing up 17 to get to Sedona but I wasn't pulling anything. I JUST purchased a 18 ft. Viking that I'm going to pull with my Toyota FJ and wondering if that would be too much of a climb for her. Thoughts? Thanks
Yeah, it's amazing how a hill doesn't seem like much until you start towing a load. :) Here is a good website to check elevations changes on a route - www.flattestroute.com/?from=Phoenix%2C+AZ%2C+USA&to=Sedona%2C+AZ%2C+USA&travelMode=Driving&measurementMode=miles You'll have to check the weight specs for towing If you're near the limits of the vehicle it could be a problem. Best to choose a lower gear and take it slower up the hills to avoid overheating. Anytime you see a sign on a highway that advises folks to turn off the AC you know that the hill is a long one and can tax an engines cooling system and there is such a sign heading up I17 - www.aaroads.com/west/arizona017/i-017_nb_exit_248_02.jpg Not trying to scare you, RVs go up it all the time, just good to know beforehand. Ambient air temps can have a big effect so good to tackle the route in the cooler morning hours. Cheers, Ray
Thanks so much Ray. My truck is supposed to be rated for 5000 and the trailer is 2800 dry, I'm just a real paranoid. Guess I could pull over and cool off, wish I could afford a new truck.
My hat's completely off to you for taking your rig up 17. I drove that with just an SUV, and it was a son-of-a-gun! Had to be really hairy with your fiver. Did you experience the "convergence" in Sedona, BTW???? :-)
They say its the 4th most dangerous highway in America. I can see why they need to add a few extra lanes here and there for slower traffic haha,. all I experienced in Sedona was way too many people. :) Pretty -place, though. Cheers, Ray
I took 89 and 89A all the way to Flagstaff from the 10 interstate on a 9 day Harley ride and you are right I would not want to take my 5th Wheel up that road. After Flagstaff i road to Williams and into the Grand Canyon and stayed at the hotel in the Canyon and than off to Bryce and Zion nice areas.
Lots of switch backs in Jerome, very tight your RV would not be able to make it through town. There is a great restaurant and Inn at the top of town it used to be called Asylum.
Another great video. I love how you integrate Google Earth with your Vlogs. Please continue. Looks like a beautiful State Park. Did you make it over to Jerome by chance? And that beagle looks like she had a great birthday.
I finally visited the park this week, but I didn't really see the big attraction. Personally, I much prefer to go north a ways and boondock where there's no neighbors and a hell of a lot better view. And it's not 30 bucks a night!
We drove through the BLM lands for a look, trust me there were way more neighbors in the boonies ;) It was Spring break for the kids and RVs every bloody where! Also with the recent rains, most spots were a red mud pit. Will have to try a different time of year, Cheers, Ray
BLM land? The only BLM land I know of is just a few miles east of Cottonwood, which IMO was terrible. I usually go about 10 miles north of Cottonwood and then west. That's the only good boondocking I know of in the area. But I would be interested in learning of other places here. Judging by the condition of the roads this trip and how green everything is, they must have gotten a lot of rain recently. The worst I have seen in the years I have been coming here.
No, it just has the stock tow package with the transmission cooler and the large rad. The main problem is the old 94 diesel only has 190 HP and 385 FT LBS torque so puts a lot of stress on it dragging 9500 lbs of fifth wheel up steeper high elevation grades. I think my clutch fan is getting a little weak as it doesn't sound near as loud as it did in the past, maybe it's not fully locking up.

The star of the show is having her birthday! That park looks nice. I think I’d enjoy riding my bicycle around those ponds.
Happy Birthday to Angie! She moves pretty well for 15. Nice area. Love the maps and all the info. Can't wait to go. Happy Trails.
I really like how you go step by step on the map of how each section of the road was for you.
Happy Birthday Angie! Another great video Ray Thanks!
Thanks Ray and Happy Birthday 🎂 Angie !!

Happy Birthday Angie! My favorite meal. Great video as always!
It is great to see that you both really love your dog.
Happy Birthday Angie! Bacon, eggs and blueberry pancake! I know where I want to go for my birthday! Terrific video Ray!
I know of some good free places to boondock with wonderful views not far from the state park, but I don't want the world to hear about them.
What a sweet dog.
Thanks, she is a goodie, Cheers! :)

Happy Birthday Angie :)
🎉Happy Birthday Angie! 🎉
She’s so sweet. 🤗💞🤗
You did another great job. Angie is doing very good for being older than me, in dog years. A reflection of the care and love you make sure she gets. Thanks again Ray for sharing your camping sites.
Another great video & I really like the map overviews. It helps put things into perspective.
Thanks. :)
Stayed there in 2015, that ridge you hiked up every night for about an hour during sunset a guy was up there playing the bag pipes, very cool. Nice video.
Your the only youtube Rver, That I’ve seen that uses maps to show where you can camp..Visual Aids are very helpful.
Weird seems like a natural thing to do. :)
Great tour and helpful tips. Thanks
You bet, thanks for watching. Cheers! Ray
Ray if you have time you need to drive over to CampVerde Saturday 3/17 for the pecan and wine festival. They have an “old time” baseball game to see. Thanks for all your informative videos. Gary Stewart

Very helpful to see the map views.
Great birthday breakfast for Angie. Thanks sonmuch for providing such detailed information.
We just left there in the Cooper's Hawk loop after a week long stay. Very nice up there. Too bad we didn't see you!
I was just there on Sunday. Very nice place. Love 525c spent Saturday night there and hiked Loy Canyon trail. Very peaceful and beautiful.
Great video. I'm always happy to see Angie in your videos. Sedona has also a very beautiful RV park (Rancho Sedona) in a quiet area of the city, directly at the creek, and within walking distance to the tourist areas of Sedona.
Thanks, we have stayed at Rancho Sedona and loved it. It's right below Snoopy Rock. :)
Keep it up Ray, your a great resource. Looking forward to seeing your next work.
Happy, HAPPY Birthday to the Grande Dame and Most Famous of RVing Supervisory Beagles!! John, Sally Lily & Chloe wish you only the BEST!!
15 is a good age for a dog to reach; happy birthday, Beagle!
Cheers!

Glad to hear. :)
Happy Birthday, Angie!
Great video as always!
Happy Birthday Angie! Wonderful area Ray! Thanks for sharing!

Happy Birthday Angie!!!! And Ray... thanks for the information in your videos. Very Informative and you present the information well, thank you.
You're welcome. :)
Happy Birthday Angie!
Happy birthday Angie!!

You're welcome, Julie. I think Angie really liked Roger. :) ol'Blue made it like a champ, though we were down to 1st gear by the top. haha.
Love Your RV He is quite the looker,,,even in first gear I’m sure 💙

Aww that was a great birthday breakfast!!! One satisfied beagle I’d bet!
Happy Birthday Angie!! Most dog parents don't know when their dogs birthday is. I think you got it good.
Happy birthday Angie 💖🎂
Thanks, Ray Looking forward to heading over from Australia soon.
Thanks for the great info once again Ray. Headed that way this next week sometime, we did end up in Utah this week.
Happy Birthday Angeleena Beagleeena. Still a pup at heart! 🐕🍷🎂🎈
I hope you two took in the Verde Canyon Railway while you were there, it's a great ride.
I've heard that. :)
Was there last March, lots of birds around ponds.
I love your videos! the map overiew is so useful
Thanks!

We love going there too. We found out though that it's a lot colder at the campground than in town.
Looks nice!

Nice! have fun. :)
Happy Birthday, Angie! Our Sophie is turning 15 soon. AZ State Parks are almost impossible to get in on short notice.
great clip
Beware the Ides of March Miss Angie happy birthday... my 12 year old beagle Daisy says Hi.
Happy Birthday, Beagle! And I'm thinking they could have chosen a more inviting name for that state park...just saying 😉
Dan The story behind the naming of the park is interesting.

Blog post and photos from our 2012 visit to the amazing landscapes of Sedona, AZ - www.loveyourrv.com/exploring-the-red-rock-in-sedona/
Happy birthday to Angie! Have you visited the museum in Jerome? We did that last year. It was really neat.
Yes, very cool!

Thx

We took the dually up there in 2012 and it was a little tight even without the trailer, neat town to walk around in. :)
Another great video. I love how you integrate Google Earth with your Vlogs. Please continue. Looks like a beautiful State Park. Did you make it over to Jerome by chance? And that beagle looks like she had a great birthday.
Not this time, but we have been up there in the past. Love the views!
Love Your RV Thanks, we'll add it to our list of places to visit.
I finally visited the park this week, but I didn't really see the big attraction. Personally, I much prefer to go north a ways and boondock where there's no neighbors and a hell of a lot better view. And it's not 30 bucks a night!

Sorry I meant Coconino National Forest Lands in Red Rock country. FR525 is very popular
Sure. That's the area I was talking about. It offers the only good camping around here that I have seen.
Have you been to the Blazin' M Ranch? It was just next door to ya. Great food and entertainment, but a little pricey.
No, haven't heard of it before.
It was literally right next to you there in Cottonwood.
Oh, I see it on the map now, past the park at the end of the road. Guess I missed the signs. :)
Have you made any cooling mods to your truck?
No, it just has the stock tow package with the transmission cooler and the large rad. The main problem is the old 94 diesel only has 190 HP and 385 FT LBS torque so puts a lot of stress on it dragging 9500 lbs of fifth wheel up steeper high elevation grades. I think my clutch fan is getting a little weak as it doesn't sound near as loud as it did in the past, maybe it's not fully locking up.
Cool... we just made a video visiting Jerome near Cottonwood. Check it out when you get a chance! :)
Have you ever stayes at Zane Grey at camp verde
No, I haven't, is it nice?
What is an average monthly amount for camping? $30/night would get expensive
AZ State parks don't have monthly rates as far as I know, so if you want to stay in one of the state parks you have to bite the bullet. We spend most of our time free camping on BLM or Forest lands so can splurge every once in a while.
Park stays are limited to 14 nights in any 30 day period.
Deploy the beagle gifts!
Careful back in Table Mesa. Even the BLM rangers will recommend not to camp there. A number of "squatters" have decided to shoot at people back in there , thinking they are infringing on their
property.
Thanks for the warning, its a shame, beautiful country up there.
Happy birthday Angie!!
Awesome ray 🇨🇦
Happy birthday Angie !!
