    Town councils are places OAP's go once they have nothing else to do with what's left of their lives and need to feel important. It's either this or they start doing community speed watches to do the police dirty work. All the while making life difficult for people who are actually going to work and doing useful things.

    I watched the video and she looked like the one in the wrong. She kicked someone from a chat then according to the other guy she had no authority (did she?) What am I missing? She's been made out as a hero and I just don't see it.

    • @ccaagg
      @ccaagg 3 роки тому +17

      She's a woman. That's it. That's why she's a hero. It really is a mess that this is the state of feminism.
      From what I can gather, she was a volunteer from the public who was there to keep order. Problem is, the meeting only erupted into what it became after she interrupted the chairman completely out of turn. You're right to not see how she's a hero. Always do your due diligence.

    • @esthermclauchlan3146
      @esthermclauchlan3146 3 роки тому +85

      @@ccaagg There was a reason she was brought in in the first place. She did what she was asked to do.
      Why bring up feminism AT ALL?

    • @ccaagg
      @ccaagg 3 роки тому +16

      @@esthermclauchlan3146 Just look at any of the media coverage of this. She has admitted she hadn't the authority to do what she did (only getting away with it since there's no precedent set strictly for the specific case of kicking people out of online meetings) and yet is still hailed as some sort of role model for women.
      Do your due diligence and you'll see she had no place to interrupt the civil discourse which kicked off the whole thing (that being, whether the meeting is illegal). She was there to prevent disorderly conduct, not instigate it by interrupting out of turn.
      Raising a point isn't disorderly conduct. Please tell me how you justify her interrupting the chairman at the start of the video. There was nothing that could be construed as disorderly conduct from his end until she began to incessantly interrupt out of turn, just simple questions she refused to answer properly.

    • @esthermclauchlan3146
      @esthermclauchlan3146 3 роки тому +62

      @@ccaagg in the things I've seen on this you are the only one bringing up her gender - except when they are using standard English pronouns.
      She was brought in because they kept getting out of control. There is context and history here.
      IF she had been told not to allow certain things to be brought up and it was made clear to other people - yes she is justified in shutting it down.
      I've chaired meetings that have gotten overly heated before - I've hd to shut people down for getting off topic or bringing up issues that there had been prior agreement to park for various reasons.
      It happens.

    • @ccaagg
      @ccaagg 3 роки тому +4

      @@esthermclauchlan3146 With this I don't disagree. The thing is though, despite the virality of this council meeting, the context and history are nigh impossible to find (believe me, I've looked).
      The reason I'm bringing up gender is because that's why she's being glorified. It's a narrative of 'standing up to pompous chauvinists'. You need only to do a quick Google search to understand this.
      It's problematic that people don't care about the details of this situation solely because of her gender. If the role she had during the meeting didn't give her the authority to interrupt civil discourse and remove others from the meeting, she shouldn't have done it and shouldn't be being revered as a hero. She's actually implied herself that she indeed did not have the authority to do this, only technically not _not_ having the authority since there's no legal precedent set for online meetings, as I think I've already stated.
      People shouldn't care that she's a woman and this shouldn't be a feminist issue. But that's absolutely what people and the mass media are making it. You need only Google. It's this identity partisanship I take issue with. Gender shouldn't matter.
