Broken Air Conditioner: Fern's home air conditioning system has broken down. Living in a hot climate, this has made her recovery even more uncomfortable and challenging.
No Stove: Fern's stove is broken, making it difficult for her to prepare nutritious meals that are vital for her recovery and overall well-being. Additionally, her plumbing is acting up and sure to go.
Car Troubles: Fern's car has broken down, severely limiting her ability to get to her medical appointments, run errands, and maintain some semblance of normalcy in her life.
