  • My Stack On gun safe refused to open. The battery for the keypad died, and I lost the key to open the safe. Although, I was able to open the safe without breaking it. Watch my trick to open the safe. I'll also show you how you can eliminate this safe's defect, preventing others from opening your safe.

Just picked up one of these at an auction for $20 and was labeled as no keys, no code-locked. I could hear stuff inside and could see papers through the rear mount holes which made me think it was all the original paperwork. The sounds I was hearing made me think it was the keys as well. Tried to pick the lock with no luck before I found your video. Maybe a dozen whacks with a mallet and it was open. Keys and all paperwork were inside, no batteries installed. This thing is brand new! Thank you!!

Holy crap that worked! I didn’t even know the brand of my safe and didn’t realize the batteries wouldn’t last for a decade and obviously lost the key years ago. I just hit it with my hand and it popped open 😂 thank you!!

Thanks for that! My lug nut key was inside and I need to do a brake job tomorrow. I tried the paper clip method to no avail, watched your vid and got it open with about a dozen whacks. The key is your timing with the hammer strike... You can't hold pressure on the bolt or the solenoid won't bounce.

So I came across this video today because I have the same safe and the same issue. Needed some documents in there. Tried this method, no dice for me. In fact, I broke a mallet on it! Tried the paperclip trick I saw a video on as well, no luck. What did work, however, was hours of jamming a big screwdriver in there to bend open the door just enough to chisel the inner frame from the front door. Once it was free, I had enough leverage to bend the steel locking bars back enough to get it open. I'm bloody, and bruised, but I got the thing open.

Worked!! 5 hits. And as most others, keys inside. To "fix" the issue, I just anchored it to the drywall on a shelf in my closet. No room on top. If someone pulls on it it seems bolted down but I know to just keep pulling until the plastic anchors pop out. Thanks!

Took me 4 whacks, 8 seconds. The explanation for how/why it works was great. I had a sense of what I was trying to do. Than you!

I used the hammer several times exactly as he said, and nothing Suddenly the battery stop completely working it went from a small bip bip, to NONE. I figured with the big smash I gave it I probably got the batteries completely out of the compartment. Guess what? I tried the combination again, cuz I knew my password, and the batteries went back to working enough to open the door. I was so happy. What I did was changed the batteries. The old batteries were rotten with white powder around. I used a toothbrush and clean the residual and made sure the spring was not rotten. so the new batteries are inside, and this video was life saver.

It took me about 40 tries. I started with your method without success, tried 4 other lock picking methods in between, but yours physically felt like the best way to let out my frustrations. On very heavy hit #40 with a rubber mallet, it worked. Honestly, I was shocked as hell. Thanks much!

I watched your video carefully two or three times and it worked on the FIRST ATTEMPT. I bolted the safe to a shelf and to the wall behind it with carriage bolts (I used all 8 mounting holes). There is another shelf above the safe so it would be very difficult and time consuming to try to carry the safe off and just about as difficult to use this technique. There was nothing in the safe and I was on the verge of throwing it away when I found your demo. Also, I forwarded the link to you video to my brother-in-law who has the same model in the same condition. Thanks.

I have the flat one with the hinges on the right side that swings from left to right when you open it. I was beginning to think this wouldn't work but after probably 30 or 40 hits. I moved from a rubber mallet to a much heavier sand filled harder plastic mallet but I think it was really hitting it as hard as I could and turning the knob clockwise at the exact same time and it popped open. Thank you for this. Of course the keys and the manual were in there all this time. I thought the plug was a backup power source for the keypad. When really it's just for some plugs inside the safe. Not quite sure what I would need that for. Anyway. After I replaced the batteries it works fine again but now I don't want to use it for my gun... Lol

Wow! It worked. I decided to give this method a shot (no pun intended) since I didn't have my key and the batteries went dead. It took about 30-40 strikes to work, but in fact it did. I was skeptical, but it worked. I had just changed the batteries with new ones (Kodak, which are not good batteries) and it went dead after 3 months. I hadn't changed the batteries since 2016, so make sure you use good batteries.

Just wanna say this video should be removed. I had this exact same unit and thanks to videos like this my safe was easily broken into and robbed of its contents. You should take it down.

I wish I saw this video before cutting a hole in mine. Now I got to weld the hole closed and reinforce it. I keep forgetting i got the answer in my pocket at all times (my phone) 😆 I'll definitely invest the $2 into a strong spring

This style was recalled in Canada cause of this problem in 2015. I do not think the newer models would do this.
