Builds just keep getting better in my opinion. Old school muscle with modern drivetrain is just The BEST.
I love old cars with modern power trains, brakes, etc! The best of both worlds.
Had a 010 camaro ss 6.2 put set kooks stainless headers performance cats x pipe went 10 miles on test drive almost burnt it up started smoking a/c. Line was melting dripping on headers wrapped lines with header wrap metal tie wraps no more problems
Love the build, an aluminum heat shield with some heat wrap on it bolted to master would keep master safe I've seen it done before

I’d be worried about overheating the brake fluid, or even melt the reservoir. I’m not sure if wrapping the header would be enough. You could wrap it and check it with an IR temp gauge.
And I thought I was bad for noticing the spaghetti wires on right inner fender. It`s so f`n perfect though. One manly looking engine compartment.
Wrap both .... the header and res/booster
If it melts and leak out.. say bye to the breaks at running speed.
Have an actual shield of metal to be sure instead of just a wrap, those turbskis will probably glow red hot
Came hear today the same thing. All that heat next to the booster can’t be good for the fluid.

Use cerakote high temp on the booster and the headers and it will dramatically lower the temperatures.
If you are running into that issue with the brakes and they are that big, you should run DOT 4 brake fluid and you also need to bleed the brake lines. You probably have a kink or blockage in the line. Bleeding the brakes will tell. You pretty quick where the problem is. You also might want to put heat shielding around that reservoir bowl.
As a Camaro fan and owner, this thing is absolutely gorgeous. What a damn brute!!

You may have to have an electronic vacuum pump for your brakes, especially if your vacuum running off intake. Love the build, keep it up.
It's hydraboost, uses power steering fluid, not vacuum.
@grantberardi5080 did not know that. I may have missed an episode that shows that install. If hydro power, then possible issue with reservoir having to much pressure.
The issue isn't the 1200 hp, it's the maniac driving the car!

I'd be looking at mounting the booster and master cylinder under the dash away from the exhaust heat. Have seen it done on many hotrods.
When you said the car is "rowdy," perfect! I am a die hard Ford guy but that build is something!! I would kill to do the same with a late 60's Mustang fastback. Daily, hopefully some economy and fun for miles! Love to hear your laugh, Emelia. So infectious and just great. I hope that car ends up being everything you dreamt of. I also love what you're doing to give back to help those struggling with mental health. You are a class act!

I still miss my '71 Camaro! When you start with a $100.00 (half wrecked) body on wheels and make it into a very fun drivable car over MANY years and THEN drive it for many years it's hard to let them go!

Holy smokes, I wanted to watch this yesterday, but a great gift from my brother brought some sad news about my cousin, and then the old family home movies that my brother restored came in my Dropbox. My dad had a '69 SS 396. Watching your excitement with this car is so fun. Love it. You're very entertaining to watch.
Looks awesome! Thoese hydroboosts tied into power steering can take a long time to bleed. I remember spending over an hour just going lock-to-lock on the wheel 5 times, then 3 brake pumps, checking the reservior, and repeating. Once they're bled though they work great!
Nice build Emelia! I would take that master cylinder and hydroboost and move it to the other side of the firewall, and run a shaft across under the dash from the brake pedal to actuate it. Even still, you may want to put a thick heat shield around the M.C. and hydroboost unit to keep from boiling your brake fluid. Where it's located now is almost guaranteed to boil the fluid and your great brakes will be gone.😮

I like it i like it alot! There's a 69 Camaro in my garage with a 502 but this Camaro's been in my family since it came off the showroom floor love it!
Emelia, with a properly sized master cylinder and the right pedal ratio you don't need power brakes. In fact I bet you'd prefer the feeling of manual brakes. Either Baer, Willwood or Tilten can help you set it up so that manual brakes work significantly better than hydroboost or vacuum boosted brakes ever will. Then you won't have to worry about boiling brake fluid.

Whether or not you're cutting corners you're building that car crazy fast. In six seeks bad obsession racing had a few drawings, bent bits of carboard, some second hand suspension and and old mini chassis.
Finally watch grand tursimo and I have to say you were good in it Leah. Love the hair you had in the movie.

Congratulations Emelia, with all the guys helping your moving quickly? My 1972 chevelle is on jack stands, similar setup, but Borg warner S256SX twins here, I'm shooting for 700 hp on 12psi LQ4 and 6psi which is were it will stay most of the time.
