- Clearing a fence line in central Texas when I heard something buzzing by my feet. Thought it was a solitary rattlesnake but I was wrong. I interview each snake I find to determine its temperament and disposition. Seven out of ten of these failed the interview. The other three got away in the cactus.
Sorry about the heavy breathing. That's a combination of Texas heat and fear.
The neat metal tool is something I made to pull Turkey Pear cactus. It can also be used as a snake whacker.

I kill em too on my property but man I hate seeing em die ...they are just creatures that did not ask to be born...just following their instinct doing their thing ....just like us none of em wants to die...you know??
There's really no reason to kill a Venomous snake. here's some facts... Saying Rattlesnakes are horrible and should all be killed is far from true, if your scared of the harm, compare the deaths to domestic dogs in the US. Deaths by dogs(30+) Wildsnakes (2-3) or (4-5) including captive and imported snakes. Rattlesnakes are creatures that have a purpose and should be respected and given space so they can do their part in the ecosystem.
Unlike rodents Snakes don't need population control. Rattlesnakes eat pretty much only rodents which make them more beneficial than most non-venomous species all combined. Snakes aren't aggressive! Snakes never activity come at you to bite, only will if scared or defensive. If your cautious of your surroundings your chances of getting a bit is nearly non-existent. Their Venom is only for prey and it's likey the bite will be dry. If you look at these snakes they we're trying to get away, how is that dangerous?

Daniel Daniel what if you accidentally get too close? What if a young child picks up a rattle snake while they’re playing in their backyard? What if a family pet gets bitten by one? They can’t really tell you they’ve been bitten by a snake you just have to figure it out and hopefully you don’t take too long to do so. Any snake that has venom is deadly to anyone. I’m a huge animal person and I love snakes, but if I were to see one that’s too close to my home or a public area I’m going to kill it before it can infest the area.
worked for 44 years for rancher, had orders to kill rattlers on sight-- he lost 6 give or take baby calves to snake bites yearly or $12,000 to you city folk-- not counting a snake bite can reach $100,000 now days, and my uncle was killed by a snake bite in the 1940's

These snakes are on your land, and you don't have the time to stop life and relocate the snakes, there are many wild ones that are in protected areas, and if I were out I would if possible move past and either myself or someone would go back and kill the snake, no matter what others say, it is not their call, it is your property.

I understand both.. wanting to leave nature alone and relocating them also, killing them to protect your family... The thing that bothers me is just because this guy's way is different than yours doesn't mean he deserves to be bashed and it doesn't give you the right to bash him. As my friends like to point out, rattle snakes are venomous, not poisonous. I leave non-venomous snakes alone, they are very beneficial, I've never seen a venomous snake on my property, but if I did it would be dispatched post haste and buried since I know about the heads being dangerous, I have no desire to be bitten by a dead snake.

Kinda sad this rolled across my recommends, I can understand keeping the property safe but I'm a big snake person even venomous so this kind dampened my day. But it is just the luck of the draw, mama chose that wrong place to lay her eggs and that was the cost. Hopefully not too many more come across and your home or just skirt the edge away from you and your livestock.

What you found is a “Rookery.” Snakes return year after year to the same place to give birth. Those were all newborns except for the mother. You quite likely have a den “hibernaculum,” where there are many snakes. Mother snakes leave the rookery 2 - 3 days after giving birth. Makes me sad to see that you felt the need to kill them, although I do understand why.

Biggest snake i've ever encountered was some kind of constricter. It was like, yellow and as long as a queen sized bed. Hold up, i'll look for it's real name. Yeah, some yellow boa constricter or it was a burmese python. One of the two.

In the summer there is a lot of poisonous snakes around my house I just use my mossberg 500 12 gauge shotgun. There is really nothing left after you shoot the snake. And don’t ever get near the snake after you kill in with a garden hoe etc etc. they can still bite hours after they were killed. It’s nerves stay alive long after it’s heart quits beating.

Good population control going there, I've gone through a couple dens in the last few months and rid them of rattlers. Had a few close calls from mid to late last years.
Hey man I feel you I try to relocate them best I can but sometimes you just have to kill them. Especially if there's kids and livestock. Most things I respond to are snakes in peoples garages. Usually I use my asp to pin them and send my partner to get the machete from our patrol vehicle

I live in a rural area and I see people who have seen snakes or coyotes in the wild and people who have never actually encountered them have different values. I can make the same statement about mosquitoes who give us malaria. About grass which we mow down in our lawn. The grass also wants somewhere where it can grow and reproduce peacefully. We consume life to live.
If you ever encountered a snake bite on a loved one youll want to kill every snake you see or atleast get rid of them.
Its impossible to LIVE WITHOUT CONSUMING LIFE. We are at the top of the food chain who just happened to evolve good brains. So we consume animals lower in the pyramid.

The people who sympathise with snakes are like watching from above with no real insight into their daily lives. Snakes eat mice, birds and the people who have a pet of that kind you ask them and they will say they loathe snakes. I witnessed the food chain take its way a lot. From mice in the kitchen to snakes to bigger snakes to even peacocks. They will do anything to survive.
It just kind of bothers me that you people are naive when judging nature.

@Moji YT I knew someone would misunderstand me because of bad English but what i essentially meant was no one should take trouble for or the risk the other animal carries. He did the right thing to kill the snake because it would likely kill his cattle directly or through his offspring causing him a great loss.
My father once said " Dont give the beggar too much wealth that you also have to stand in the queue to beg"
The same can be said for snakes, sympathising with them when they could pose a RISK to you is just not wise.

An example is borrowing money when there is a chance that they cant give it back to you.youll end up losing that money and keep reminding him in an uncomfortable way and then youll lose it. It happened to me a few times. You just need to know when NOT to help others.
