I like to imagine the teammates as play cards and the teams as poker hands.
That actually works! There are 4 colors of Mii, and each one has 1-13! Aces, Jacks, Queens, and Kings are 1, 11, 12, and 13! Also, there are 2 Wild Miis, like how there are 2 Joker cards!
I mean, the Japanese name of the game mode legit means "Mii Poker"...
