I wonder if under the seat steering would be better. Legs are so close to the handlebars and arms are fully extended on one guy, no alternative hand position.
Under seat is nice too but doesn’t add any additional hand positions. The arms straight out is a preference it isn’t a necessity. Due to being a recumbent with no hand pressure as on an upright, additional hand positions aren’t needed. Another choice some like are tweener bars but again one hand position.
+End2EndAdventure I had a Corsa with 650's but all my friends pictured have 700's. feet on the ground is related to how tall you are more than the wheel size. With a Bacchetta there are two frame sizes when you are on the correct frame size you should be fine. Shorter folks still may want to go to a 650 model. You can go to West Houston Recumbent Riders Face Book page and ask the gang. You also may want to look at the Schlitter Encore if the Bacchetta is a little too high with 700's.
+Linh Nguyen Sorry I took this video before I got my Giro. The shield is just a motorcycle helmet shield I attached to my regular bike helmet. I have seen someone marketing one for bikes recently I think it is called The Flip Sheild or ?
Thanks so much for answering. I just ordered one. I was thinking if it doesn't workout. I need to use motorbike helmet and drill holes for air circulation to keep cool :-)
Hi Steven, I am from the RGV in Texas. I just got into cycling events and found that typical bikes hurt my back due to my herniated discs. I am 6ft and am looking for a good recumbent bike. Do you believe the Bachetta Giro 20 would be a good start for 50 to 100 mile bike trails or should i go with the 26" ? I read that most people prefer the 20" as this is more comfortable and doesnt cause toes to be tingly. Any advice I would really appreciate. Thanks
First, what is RGV? The Giro is a nice bike but most recumbents are nice bikes in my book. The tough thing is for anyone to give advice as to what is the best for you. I suggest you figure out what you want the bike to do or what are you going to go with it? Each bike or at least style will have things the design was meant for. Most bents are comfortable compared to all upright bikes. Some bents are more comfortable than others for you and your body. I would do all you can to ride different bikes. Maybe a high racer is what you really want or maybe a long wheel base or even a trike??? I have owned around 17 different ones (bikes and trikes) and I couldn't tell you which was the best for me, let alone for you.
My handlebars are too short when fully laid back on my bacchetta corsa 700c. Considering a shorter stem, or possibly flipping the stem backwards. I've seen tillers spun backwards so do you think it's okay to do the stem that way?
You can try it but often that causes your knees to hit the bar. There are long handlebars available. You might consider a bar that is sold by Schlitter. It is vary adjustable. I modified the bars I had by adding an extension of about 6".
I just got a shorter stem and it wasn't enough. So I ordered the longest bars that bacchetta makes at 330mm. Stock was 300. Hopefully it'll be enough. If not I'll look for the bars that you mentioned THANKS! Sometimes custom is required like what you did, I'm not opposed to using unconventional methods to achieve like you. I miss my rans recumbent it had a clamp on each side of the bar I could slip the bars out further on each side to dial it in
@@mindciller Contact John schlitter.bike/ Also if you aren't on Recumbent One on FB try that. Also Bentrider as if anyone has a bar or idea for you but I think the Schlitter bar will be the best. It is designed to adjust so you can lay down and still see.
@@-mike-8134 I can't argue with that! The hills of Virginia are some of the toughest hills in all of the RAAM! I was only a crew member but our rider (Dennis Johnson) was pushed to the brink climbing them.
Thank you. They are all Bacchetta’s, mine is a Corsa, the blue one is a Carbon Aero 2, the silver is a Ti Aero (titanium), and the black one at the back is a Carbon Aero 1.
Love my Bacchetta! ! ! It gives me a great fast ride with no butt hurt. We all can live a better life without buttock-ache.
Rad video Steve, good camera angles, thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Chris Beaver, It's an Profile Design bag. I think I got it at Performance Bikes. The Bento Box is, I think the same type of bag.
The rider with the Spinergy wheels with white spokes: what bag does he have in front of the steerer tube?
Gotta love a nice, brisk ride! Lookin' good, fellas. What was the speed you folks were doing, mid 20s mph?
It was awhile ago but I think we were riding at the low 20's at the time, much faster and it would have been really hard to hold the camera and ride!

I'm interested in getting a Bacchetta. Do you all run the 700c tires? If so, do you have any issues resting your feet on the ground when stopped?

Please let me know where you buy the big eye shield
It is a Girl Attack Sheild helmet. Many bike stores carry them but look on Yahoo an EBay.

Welp. Bacchetta emailed me back and they have no stock on the longer 330 bars. I'm back to square one
