The main reason is that they want to weaken african.natioms and have control over their resources. They use debt , corruption and terr.orism to further their agenda. The US army trains and provides weaponry to terr.or groups ( moderate rebels if you prefer).

Niger is rich in oil and uranium among other things. No way in hell is the West going to give that up easily.
