  • The United States spent a staggering $766 billion on its military during the 2022 fiscal year, and the simple fact is that this number will never decrease. If anything, it’s only going to rise higher. That should come as no surprise to anybody who realizes that running - and protecting - a global superpower doesn’t come cheap. And yet, many people want cuts in military spending. But for those who don't we will discus this today in this video, watch now!

As a Brit, I think America carries NATO far too hard and us European countries do not pull our weight, I understand why Donald Trump would want to ‘pull out of Europe’ because we aren’t even trying. The UK France and Germany should, realistically be able to beat Russia alone if it came to a land invasion, let alone the fact we have the rest of the incredible nations on the continent to aid us. I love having the US on our side, but I fear we are too reliant and we aren’t cooperating with them, rather letting them carry our dead weight. We each need to exceed our 2% of GPD on defence in order to take some weight off the US shoulders and show them that we are willing to play our part in the upcoming world war rather than be used as glorified US bases. I appreciate the American help, I understand the American frustration.

If we are going to look at how American is spending money, maybe we should look at the fact America spends more on just the interest for its debt each year ($870 billion) than it does on its military ($822 billion).

That doesn't even mention that we spent 1.2 trillion dollars on social welfare programs in 2022. I don't have more recent stats, but I highly doubt it's any less. We absolutely need a balanced budget amendment to the constitution. Our spending is completely out of control. The problem is that while people may complain about the debt, they absolutely do not want to commit to what needs to be done to lower it. It will involve massive cuts, including to entitlement programs as well as raised taxes. Cuts or tax increases on their own wouldn't be enough. When it comes down to actually walking the walk, very few people actually want to commit to those hardships and thus the problems become even worse and are kicked down the road to the next generation. Eventually that bill is going to come due and whatever generation is stuck holding the check is going to get completely devastated. We apparently absolutely hate our descendants.

@itsreapernecrosis2215 it's not stand-by money. World War II was literally a global disaster where countries were fighting for thier very existence. Economies were put on war-time footing and pushed to the very brink of collapse. People were asked to sacrifice pretty much all luxuries for the cause. We aren't even in a war personally right now, much less a worldwide one. It's completely disingenuous to compare our situation now to WWII and claim we are spending comparatively less of our GDP. Of course we are.

Military spending starts with research and development. This, arguably is the most cost intensive expenditure of a modern army. However, this cost is easily bypassed by China, where they simply steal the technology, or buy it on the black market from supposed allies (Israel) who we freely provide our intelligence and military technology with. Compounded by the fact we "integrate" foreign nationals into our military, offerring a "path to citizenship" for nationals of hostile countries, is enabling a license to steal/spy...
This is wholly evident by the fact that China and Russian "technology" is exact reversed engineered replicas of western military hardware. The only reason our adversaries have any technology close to ours, is because we ALLOWED them to steal it. Or we shared our technology to "Allied" foreign nations (Israel), who then sold it to our adversaries...

  • @IsraelMilitaryChannel

    1. Why does the US provide munitions to Israel when Israel can produce them itself? The answer is simple, US aid can only be used to purchase US made weaponry.
    2. Why does the US aid Israel? Because the US gains more than Israel. Israeli technology transfer, intelligence sharing of the middle east, bases to park your logistic footprint, influence, leverage, stimulus for the US economy and military industries, and come with string attached often cutting out the competition etc..
    3. What happens if the US stops aiding Israel? Israel becomes dependent on its own production line. Israel has its own defense industry and will no longer be required to be under the pressure of US interests. Receiving aid from the US makes Israel committed to US' interests and pressure. The US pressures Israel to not export Israeli made arms to certain countries deemed rogue by the US or hostile to the US. Now how much of revenue is lost annually because of this?
    4. Why would the US continue to aid Israel? The aid the US provides to Israel are not free gifts. The US brokered a deal promising aid if Israel returns Sinai back to Egypt. Yes, the US made Israel give up 60,000 km2 of land (3 times bigger than Israel today) promising aid in return.
    5. Does the US benefit from aiding Israel? Absolutely, Israel battle tested US F-15, F-16 and F-35, promoting US weapons to the world as capable and combat proven thus increasing interests and sales for the US and then sharing operation data of the systems back to the US. Another benefit for the US is that the aid effectively "kills" Israeli military systems that competes with US made systems. The US pressured Israel to cancel Israeli Lavi fighter jet program because the US was afraid it would compete with the US F-16 on the market. So in return the US proposed ongoing aid. You see, the US aid is not free gifts, it's a tool. Some say US foreign "aid" is economic imperialism with strings attached.
    6. What will happen to Israel if the US withdraws all support and isolate Israel? The US stands to lose almost as much as Israel. Russia and China will cozy up to Israel for Israeli cutting edge technology. This will be the US and Europe's biggest nightmare, imagine Russia and China with Israeli made weapons. The US will never allow this to happen.

Considering the fact that almost 95% of “donations” to Ukraine remain tightly in the pockets of a handful of US companies, and with the choice of words for Ukraine, the narrator knew exactly the number of US spending. For Israel, it was 10,000 tons, which, by the way, Ukraine did not even receive 2,000 tons of in direct delivery. The US claimed to provide the cutting-edge new Abrams tanks, but we received an older variant in a small quantity-35 out of the US stockpile of 5,000. The same situation applies to all the weapons that the US particularly spent on Ukraine.

The US military doesn't accommodate free trade between nations, it's there to force the third world to buy dollars every time they want to make a cross border trade. We are keeping the third world poverty stricken because it makes us wealthier. The US proxy war in the Ukraine is being waged in an effort to regain control over the third world because they are considered our colonies.

  • @ianmastin
    @ianmastin 2 місяці тому

When the U.S. sends military equipment to Ukraine, it's not just about giving away weapons; it's a smart move on multiple fronts. Much of this gear is from the older stock that the U.S. military no longer uses because it's planning to upgrade to the latest technology anyway. Normally, getting rid of old military equipment is expensive and complicated. It has to be transported, broken down, and disposed of, all of which costs money and takes time.
By sending this older equipment to Ukraine, the U.S. turns a potential expense into an advantage. Yes, the U.S. still covers the cost of transporting this equipment and training Ukrainian forces to use it. However, Ukraine takes on the responsibility of "disposing" of it, in a sense, by using it for their defense. This is much faster and ultimately cheaper than the drawn-out process the U.S. would otherwise face.
This strategy is not only cost-effective but also strengthens the partnership between the U.S. and Ukraine. It helps Ukraine defend itself without burdening the U.S. with the costs and logistics of disposing of old equipment. So, in the end, sending military aid to Ukraine is a win-win: it supports an ally in need and saves the U.S. time and money.
