Yea! I was surprised. I would go back and forth with 99 FCR version and Hurricane, thinking Hurricane was sometimes faster but it was very hard to tell on P1. Thankfully one of the 22 nights of terror event was P8 terrorzone so I could test this very well. I will be running Hurricane for the time being.
99% FCR version can stack a lot of magic find, and that's about the main reason for me to go with a wind druid, stack like 400 mf and run easy areas. I used to play my druid as one, but ever since the changes to the fire side of the tree, I respecced and never looked back. The playstyle is way more engaging, the damage and AOE ability is way better, and with a Phoenix shield you never worry about sustain. The downside is that I only have ~220mf. Next time I'll cast tornados is when I find an ethereal Stormlash and proc them as a Fury druid, but won't be anytime soon on legit single player :)
I could put on treks for poison res, but then I lose the extra mana. Poison is not a big concern with Cure on the merc. Merc using my infinity from my Nova Sorc. Would obviously be better if using an eth elite base.
Tornado pathing has always been awful.. it's pretty fun to play though.. Some builds are so gear dependent, but windy druids can be pretty budget and effective Also.. great addition using doom 👏👏👏 That's exactly what I rolled on my LoD windy... HF ups the survival rate (slow) and hits before the hurricane spell ticks on the initial aoe landing
Yup!! It’s nice. P1 and you can just tele around and run and things die. P8 takes a little more time, but the cold dmg does pretty well. And the Nados in the build are still doing almost as much dmg as a regular windy setup. So it had the best overall clear speeds and safety for me. 👍🏼 i just wish there was a better way to boost the cold side better for higher players count. Nova will clear CS in 2 min. So hurricane doing it in 4+ is slow!
That's why I abandoned my tornado druid for a fury + hurricane build, using Doom on a giant thresher 😍 it's so good for clearing all areas... Only bad thing is that my Doom rolled quite low on negative cold res
How do you divvy up your skills? And I'm guessing this doesn't really shine until you have a fair bit of gear? Doing a HC budget fury/summoner but this sounds fun
@@bg2001 for windy skills? The elemental tree is pretty straight forward. Max out all the windy skills and cyclone armor. Very tanky with that setup. Lots of life and protection from cyclone.

Sorry seems like test was incorrect ….. lawbringer turns enemy back… but u need to jump in pack…also with 99 for u can make 7400 tornado dmg… but the best way is to use Armageddon + hurricane with infy you don’t need 7 k life on softcore

Wait... How have you got your buffers setup on console?! You have a tab for Hurricane, Tornado etc... then a tab with just 2 buffers which im guessing is your L2 Hold and then where does the other come from?! Are is there a video cut im 2 blind to see where you binded them after? Lol
so this is a game changer on console. I'm guessing you don't know about it. In the settings there is an option for "weapon swap separate key binding" so that when I swap weapons to my CTA/Spirit, I only need BO and BC bound to them during that time. So it saves the button binding. Because you don't need BO and BC on your normal weapon swap.

In the hurricane version the main dmg dealer is cold and hurricane. Tornado are still doing 5k dmg. And with night wings you get 20% to cold dmg which in this case is a lot.
With only one example how do we know you weren’t just getting better at clearing after each run too. Seems like too much variability to make a concrete statement..
the test runs were nearly back to back. I didn't have to change the build other than swapping gear around. But the biggest variable for general clear speed, was infinity merc. Because conviction really helped with the cold side, it helped clear faster. Not only lowering enemy res by 85, but also lowering enemy defense, which helped the merc, and all the summons. With the hurricane focused setup, the tornados are still very strong. Almost as strong in the regular windy setup. You just don't get a decrep proc in there on the setup. Tornados are also bad at targeting so they are less effective on their own. Hurricane no need to aim. You are free to do your own testing.
@@smalps-gaming Yeah that was my point, is that since nados are so sporadic in their hit or miss, you could probably do 99%fcr one run and hit 6:55 minutes, do a second run and hit 6:00 and third run and hit 6:30. Since there's such a big spread (convidence interval), you haven't proven repeatability, maybe the 163 run was on the better side of lock and the 99 was on the lower side of luck, we don't know. ANyways, agree about Infinity, its just too good not to use in most builds. And also the weapon damage if using a Cryptic Axe, its just double what a Reapers Toll or anything else is gonna do so its just more consistent damage.

Hurricane being so much faster, 4:55 vs windy 6:55. Decrep or a RT merc helps boost your kill speed, but otherwise the DMG is low. On a boss killing level, Infinity with CB, conviction, and lower defense, is going to clear the boss consistently faster than the other setups.

Where is the amp dmg proc going to come from? The rune word I know of would come from an act 1 merc. It would work well probably but you are relying on the proc. Similar to Decrep, you need it to proc to do the dmg.
i was looking forward to d2r because i liked d2, but it crashes for me so often and blizzard has no idea what is causing people to crash(because they dont put any effort into figuring it out) so i unfortunately had to stop playing
@@kadjadowling6888 no it isnt based on that my computer can run it on max and the crashes are not consistent with it trying to do anything as i can right back in and repeat what i was doing and there wont be a crash, it also can happen multiple times in minutes or not for hours. there are people with far better pcs than mine who also get random crashes and blizzard knows about them they just wont do anything because that would cost money and you are gonna buy the game again if they spend more money on it
@wargumbyx Open up resource monitor and look at you ram usage while playing the game. If you play with browser tabs open and YT playing, have those open too. If you seem your RAM usage or allocation is coming close to the maximum amount, then you are running out of ram and the game will crash to desktop.
Adding RAM fixed 100% of my crashes. Browser tabs, UA-cam, and other applications occupy a surprising amount of RAM. The random amount of tabs I had open contributed to the seemingly random behavior of D2r crashing.
In the regular windy setups, the choice merc is to get the decrep procs to boost the nado dmg. Infinity would do less there. It would help the hurricane’s dmg slightly and lower defense. The reason the last run is faster is because of the hurricane focus plus infinity. Because you are doing more cold dmg, and then infinity is lowering the cold res.

There is a chat using the app on your phone, or on the PS5, there's also voice chat as well. There's also discord integration on PS5 now too. So you can have a discord voice chat and it works the same.

Drop the 5 nado helm for a 2/20(-3), swap the suicide branch for hoto(+2), swap one fcr ring for a soj(+1). Seems to be the same net. What is the added benefit? The all res? Extra mana would be nice.
@@smalps-gaming Yeah, my thinking is the all res, replenish life, + dex. Free up a fcr ring for a bul kathos or soj, plus whatever mods a 2/20 circlet might have. I'm making a max fcr wind druid right now. That's what I'm aiming for, to keep the hoto.
@@BennduR Ive seen diablo die to fire pretty quickly, but the rest is slow on full clear. and its def not as tanky. gear I used was: 6 facet CS, Ravenlore, Phoenix, Engima, etc, and used infinity merc, as well as plague merc. Fire was clunky. Also did it with HOTO for the res, but still the risk of death was high on higher players count with the playstyle. I switched right back to Hurricane as its the most tanky. Going for 99 I didn't want to die.
The wind druid is really terrible for PVE. The damage needs to be tripled for the tornadoes to actually do anything. Hurricane is essentially just for the chill the damage is worthless. Even decrepify isn't enough. You need amp damage for it to actually do anything. The druid as a class is really terrible. There is nothing that they're good at as a shape shifter. You're just better off going frenzy barbarian or zeal paladin so they're terrible that way, and they have less survivability and they're extremely slow and can't use teleport effectively in paladins have charge. Summoning is just pathetic. And fire is god awful. Everything in their kit is underwhelming and needs serious buffs.
Yea the class is not great. I give the builds A-Tier at best. Its just not going to be a meta build. If there were a better way to amp the cold dmg, or better way to aim the tornados it would be better. Having a merc that applies the decrep is good but its not consistent enough. Amp dmg would be great, if you could proc it reliably, but you can't. This class really needs a good rune word to make it better. As mentioned, if the tornados would orb around you, like hurricane, then it would be better, Less aiming, and you could have them all flying around you and doing dmg. As opposed to flying off in their own direction. Fury Druid is close, but it needs help still. Like needs some AEO things happening. Destruction rune word is close, but its just not strong enough really. I agree, the class is just sub par at almost everything.

i run my wind druid pretty much the same as your 3rd option. even my doom rolled the same -48 haha.

Ive heard of this build and hybrid. I’m currently setup in all Fury right now. It’s a fun change of pace and play-style. All melee.

@@randomreviews595 yea on PS5, they have their own system for groups and voice chat. Its outside of D2, but it works the same. There is a chat using the app on your phone, or on the PS5, there's also voice chat as well. There's also discord integration on PS5 now too. So you can have a discord voice chat and it works the same.

2/20 circlet, so you can drop that trash suicide branch and drop another 10 fcr ring.
Drop the 5 nado helm for a 2/20(-3), swap the suicide branch for hoto(+2), swap one fcr ring for a soj(+1). Seems to be the same net. What is the added benefit? The all res? Extra mana would be nice.
@@smalps-gaming Yeah, my thinking is the all res, replenish life, + dex. Free up a fcr ring for a bul kathos or soj, plus whatever mods a 2/20 circlet might have. I'm making a max fcr wind druid right now. That's what I'm aiming for, to keep the hoto.

you did it wrong then. fire is objectively better right now. you can legit clear p8 in half the time shown in this vid with diablo dying in 7 seconds
@@BennduR Ive seen diablo die to fire pretty quickly, but the rest is slow on full clear. and its def not as tanky. gear I used was: 6 facet CS, Ravenlore, Phoenix, Engima, etc, and used infinity merc, as well as plague merc. Fire was clunky. Also did it with HOTO for the res, but still the risk of death was high on higher players count with the playstyle. I switched right back to Hurricane as its the most tanky. Going for 99 I didn't want to die.

The wind druid is really terrible for PVE. The damage needs to be tripled for the tornadoes to actually do anything. Hurricane is essentially just for the chill the damage is worthless. Even decrepify isn't enough. You need amp damage for it to actually do anything.
The druid as a class is really terrible. There is nothing that they're good at as a shape shifter. You're just better off going frenzy barbarian or zeal paladin so they're terrible that way, and they have less survivability and they're extremely slow and can't use teleport effectively in paladins have charge. Summoning is just pathetic. And fire is god awful. Everything in their kit is underwhelming and needs serious buffs.
Yea the class is not great. I give the builds A-Tier at best. Its just not going to be a meta build. If there were a better way to amp the cold dmg, or better way to aim the tornados it would be better. Having a merc that applies the decrep is good but its not consistent enough. Amp dmg would be great, if you could proc it reliably, but you can't. This class really needs a good rune word to make it better.
As mentioned, if the tornados would orb around you, like hurricane, then it would be better, Less aiming, and you could have them all flying around you and doing dmg. As opposed to flying off in their own direction.
Fury Druid is close, but it needs help still. Like needs some AEO things happening. Destruction rune word is close, but its just not strong enough really.
I agree, the class is just sub par at almost everything.
