Certainly there was misinformation and over reactions coming from both sides, and the correct response would've been "this is new, we don't know what we don't know, here is the reasoning behind our current decisions, as more information comes to light we'll respond appropriately and keep in mind that the 'sensible course of action' differs from person to person.' This hasn’t even been verified, it’s based off of the low-confidence reports of 2 government agencies. Meanwhile, 4 other agencies concluded this is NOT the case. But even if you are right, you did not have a robust body of evidence to back of your conspiracy theory, you were just the lucky guesser among a bunch of other conspiracy theorists who guessed wrong.

Where this went wrong is that it became paramount to protect the U.S. Government from civil lawsuits due to death and disabling conditions due to a virus created by U.S. taxpayers. Yes, the lab was in Wuhan, China, but the gain of function research that led to the creation of a virus readily and fully adapted for aerosol transmission, high contagion adaptation, and highly specialized for infection in human lung tissue… was funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease. Thus, the US government is culpable for the release of a created virus. The lawsuits alone could bankrupt the US Treasury. Thus, an alternate, natural source for the virus needed to be the message - and still is, to a large extent. Plausible deniability exists, shutting down the lawsuits.
What seems to be missing In understanding this conspiracy is that while science requires veracity of data - and there is that veracity - the niggling ‘proof of a negative’ hangs sharply over the Virus origin. Thus clouding that very veracity. So, while there is no real doubt that the virus escaped from the Wuhan lab, there will always be a slight opening of doubt, precisely because real science doesn’t ever shut down the possibility that the scientists could be wrong…

Very misleading for Forbes to compare a Doctor of Virology(aka Dr Fauci), the same as a Doctor in Southeast Asian History (Dr Metzl), those are not the same or close to be the same.
His PhD is supposedly in Southeast Asian history so I wouldn’t call him qualified. Btw, I have a PhD in Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology and I say Fauci misled the public

I did the legwork and I figured this crap out three years ago. Therefore they could too. It was censored, because they wanted it censored.

From my post-doc work on recombinant human heart ion channels in 1990's, I knew we had the technology for sophisticated genetic manipulation for a long time. So I asked colleagues in other fields of medical genetics - from neurology to gastroenterology to oncology to developmental biology - what they thought about the origin of Cov19. Without hesitation they all said "Lab".
To this day, not a one of us have changed our position.

In Nov 2019, I was seated in the aisle seat of a 3 seat row, left side of the plane. Sitting next to me were 2 CHINE EASIES; a middle age woman and her old father. BOTH had masks on and the old man coughed his lungs up for most of the trip from Hong Kong to LAX. Annoying. NO SLEEP!. For the next 5 weeks I had all kinds of symptoms approximating the COO virus. Went back to work and literally slept my way thru the rest of the day after going home for the late afternoon and evening. By mid Feb 2020, I was feeling much better. While I did eventually get the Pfizer jabs for the sake of traveling on airlines, I'm guessing that I was already exposed and that probably did much more for me than the jabs.
At least he was allowed to speak. If Matt Taibbi would have been the scientist there, they would have called him a "so called scientist," slander him, and then talk over him for five minutes.

In my humble opinion; We keep talking about natural origin versus lab leak. This debate might be a big smoke screen. What if it was a bioweapon released on purpose? Couple that with the dis/mis/mal-information battles now, we are also discussing the same Digital IDs for online citizenship. It's not a far jump from Vaccine Digital passports to any other type of Digital IDs and CBDC's. Just something to think about.
