    I love these pens. Always ready writers with very good nibs. They class up beautifully with the "Deluxe" vintage style clip. I don't care for the converters and choose to clean and refill cartridges with a blunt tip syringe. My only real complaint is that the plastic models scratch easily even when care is taken, though this is easily rectified with some polish. Thank you for your fine review.

    I have the KAWECO SPORT CLASSIC in green and the writingexperience is really great. So smooth it feels when you write and it doesn't scratch no matter wich paper you use to write on. Really great value for the money. I was really surprised that such a cheap fountain pen writes that great.

    Came here for your demo right after bought a used one like new from someone local. It comes with a medium nib (a little wide among all the medium nibs I have) and writes really smooth. Like the elegant finish and form factor for travel. Great into. Thanks.
    EDIT - by the way if the bladder type converter is used, be cautious to carry it in pocket from AC room. Body heat may warm up the air inside the pen and squeeze the bladder causing leak. Drilling a tiny hole at the end of the pen solves it.

    I have the clear version of this pen. I love mine. Being an all plastic barrel, this model can be eye-dropper converted. Just a bit of silicone grease on the threads. The clear version is best for that due to easily seeing how much ink is left in the pen. No guessing involved.
    I would highly recommend for any man, getting one of the Kaweco pen clips for this model that are sold separately. The retro-looking version looks nicer of the two styles available. But is nearly twice as much, and not quite as easy to clip onto a pocket. The more modern version is priced properly and is more functional. Although technically they are removable clips, I'd highly recommend leaving the clip on the pen once it is attached.
    As for the nibs, I don't think there is any gold plating at all. Not for the prices these go for. I think it's just a steel nib painted gold. Honestly, I would have preferred a steel nib that looks steel. It's the one thing I don't like about my pen. Ironically, you can get actual gold nibs for this model. Basically add a zero to the right of the amount the steel pens sell for.
    As for being mainly a cartridge pen, use the one that comes with it, wash it when empty, let the inside air-dry, then use a blunt ink syringe to fill up the cartridge with your favorite ink. (A diabetic syringe works well too. Just be careful not to prick yourself with it.) Or, go with the eye-dropper option.

      Hey, thanks for sharing, I will try this out as an eyedropper, the cartridge converter doesnt fit nearly enough ink!

      You're Welcome. Happy to help. Have to agree with you regarding the cartridge converter.

      They do sell in versions with a plain steel nib, the brass version has this, and the nibs are easily switched out.
      I have the brass version and the demonstrator(clear) version I am waiting for now.

      Hindsight I really want one of the brass ones . They look lovely and I can imagine a nice smell too

      @@Simplesimple123 I do like the brass, it patinas in interesting ways that changes over time as you handle it. The weight while writing takes time to get used to, thats either a disadvantage or advantage depending on your writing style and personal preference.
      I write slow so it works for me.

    Hav you ever tried a Pilot Birdie? They are discontinued but can be found on ebay. I think they are perfect for EDC and are steel-bodied so they have a nice rugged look, too.

    I don't post mine often, but I have small hands and a more traditional spencerian grip.

    I own several Kaweco pens. The perfect EDC (for me) it's the Kaweco Supra

  • @greekveteran2715
    @greekveteran2715 2 роки тому

    I have to say, that this color choice with the gold accents, looks WAY better in person! and for those who don't own a Kaweco Sport, is way more comfortable than it looks too!! Onw of the best choices for an inexpensive but good quality pen. Great value and probably the best edc fountain pen out there. I like it way way more than the Parker Vector...
    PS If you have the money, get the Sport Al (aluminum) version! This version looks great in person however, the feel of the plastic doesn't much the outstanding looks of the pen! I wish they made this exact model, in aluminum! The Brass is cool, however it becomes VERY heavy and probably loses it's balance too, since the cup is very big...

      Thanks lovely little pens these, although it would be nice if they would carry a bit more ink... not brave enough to try to make an eyedropper!

    I agree, especially in the AL version it’s perfect as a robust EDC that can take a beating!

    Hi, quick question for you. I like writing with a fountain pen as I simply like the feel, but haven't really made the plunge into proper ones. I've used several different disposable ones, and some cheaper plastic refillable pens. I'm a teacher so almost always have a pen or three in my front pocket, and I've yet to find a model that doesn't leak. I had a few that leaked badly inside my pockets, but the best one - my Pilot Petite - does leak a bit inside the cap, leading to inky fingers when I take it out to write. Have you experienced any leaking with this pen, or can I count on it to be pretty leak-proof?

    • @conradsmith9332
      @conradsmith9332 6 років тому

      Hello. In regards too leaking are you putting the pens nib side up in too your pocket? If the pens are nib side down they WILL leak. Allso the best pen for not leaking a think would be a pilot metropolition. These are affordable bladder filler pens with a metal body and a very smooth nib. Hope this helps in some way. :)

    So if you carry this in your pocket every day , and it is angled downwards, will the cap fill up with ink?

      The nib is supposed to face upwards.

    ... and what might be the expected lifespan of a silicone converter?

    • @conradsmith9332
      @conradsmith9332 5 років тому +1

      I know this is old but probably around 90 years before they go hard or whatever. I say this as the Silicon sacs are similar sacs that are in parker 51s from the 1940s and those are still fine 99% of the time.

    Yes kaweco are the ultimate EDC fountain pens...but for me, it's more the StonedWash Al Sport that get the highest rating....but this one is not too bad!
