How to Build Icon A5 RC Plane with Foam Board

- I never have a successful seaplane until now, this Icon A5 is beautiful to see and also a good flyer. You can choose to take it off from ground or from water, I have the plans for landing gear too. It made out almost entirely with 6mm Depron foam and a few plywood parts. It has a clear canopy and a pilot figure from papercraft that you can build. The decal also available for download. The plans come with A4 and A0 size and A3 for the decal. It has some issue on the tail but I already add plywood reinforcement part on the plans.

Such talent concerning using foam. Your ability puts many balsa builders to shame. Today's real airplanes are made using composite materials, not wood and canvas too. I know there are many die hard old school balsa builders out there but the ability to use more durable materials and produce such an awesome looking craft shows everyone what you can make using foam. Great job.

Julius!, such a great build! I thought you will use a different cover for the fuselage, but i see you use the same good old packing tape. How it hold the water? doesn´t peel off? When i made my first and only Seaplane i put all the electronics on a condom (brand new of course :P ) and i see the tail in the end need a reinforcement ! hehe. Oh and your voice change a little on the building process haha. How do you do it!? i am thinking about make some videos in English as well .... i wonder if you keep all this models to yourself... there are few of them! :D Congrats & greetings from Argentina!

Regarding the take off problem.... have you thought about adding some flaps? Maybe it helps taking off and landing too🤔

Great work as usual Julius. Got half the parts cut out already. Instead of taping, I left the paper on the side of the foam board on the outside of any curves and that's working great. Is there any special location for the landing gear mounts, and if so do you have the measurements?

Hello. I'm your fan. Your RC works are perfect. But I need a lot of help. I can't identify the distance from parts F4, F9, F10 to the front. Where exactly to put them? How many inches from the front of the RC to the F4 F9 and F10?

The hull has no step, the flat bottom on the hull will not release its self from the water, simple make a small step in the hull design and take offs will be much improved. Great work, keep it up!

How did you know to do all this? Did you used to work at Eflite?
no, and yes I also studied all Icon A5 models, from factory made to DIY builds including that Eflite model before designing the plans.
