My dad watched this when it came out when I started playing. He got a great kick out of this when I showed him it. Thanks Jeremy
You know this videos old when you see a Reebok stick
I remember my old Reebok stick
Man my old twig too!
Yeah Matt speaking facts
Am not a hockey player what’s up with reebook sticks?
@@mathiash3541 they just haven’t made any in the past 5-7 years
exactly how i used to do it.
i gotta say, this video made me a little nostalgic for the old days and hangin with the boys in the locker room.
Ya I know the feeling too
Thanks a bunch!!! When I bought my son’s first stick, the guy at the shop taped it up for me just like this. They didn’t tape it for me the next time, and I was so lost on how to get that grip. I was wondering if it was just twisted tape, but I didn’t see how it was done. Nice to see that it’s pretty simple to do myself. Mama’s got this one! Thank you!☺️
Shout out from Norway. Father, 34yrs. Son soon to be 7 finally found the joy of and the passion for skating and hockey. As I put my gear away many years ago I was truly happy to find your videos to get back some forgotten knowledge and to be even more supportive to my son!👍
I’m in norway
Bergen
I use Tennis overgrips. They're meant to cover the grip of tennis racquets, so they're very grippy but also very comfortable. I find I like the feel better than actual hockey tape or grip tape. Not many people use this and I STRONGLY recommend it.
That's a neat trick. I'm new to playing hockey and when I retape my stick I will do it this way. Just got done taping the blade from your video. Thanks for the tips.

You are here when my parents weren’t! Thank you coach:) I’m starting hockey next year! I’ve never felt so happy
I'm Twelve, and even though this video is as old as I am, it still helped me greatly. Thank you for teaching me this useful skill.
Thanks for these tips, I'm about to play hockey with some friends this weekend for the first time in ages and this was a nice reminder on how to prepare my stick.
Cheers!
These videos have helped me a ton, and even though I have tweaked my knob here and there I still keep it very similar to what you originally showed. Thanks a bunch!
Thank you man this was the first time taping my own stick and I really like the extra grip lines on it
Love the trick with the twisted tape. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! It looks awesome on my stick!
Both your videos on stick bottom and knob are fabulous thank you. I am playing my first game tonight (long time skater but no time player??!). Saved me......
can barely tie my shoe and this chap wants me to do this hi tech taping
Very high tech. Very
Thanks for the video Jeremy. 51 and NEVER played hockey before the 10 week session I just finished for adults wanting to learn how to play hockey. Just got a new stick which is now all taped up ready to go for the next 10 week session I just joined!!
Thanks for making this video! It helped me alot
Nice tip man! I just made the grip and it's awesome. Thanks!
Thanks so much for your instructional videos. I started playing hockey at 37, and you've given the most straightforward, coherent advice of any instructional I've watched so far. My footwork and stick work benefit greatly from it. And as a coach, so will my young hockey players' skills!
Cheers. Started at 36 (2years ago)
started at 36 myself
Welcome to the EXCLUSIVE club, brothers and sisters! ;)
This channel is bloody amazing.
Thanks for the tips. I just got sticks for my kids to play in the yard. Very easy to do and the knob looks great!
Thanks all of your videos teach me a lot.
Thanks for the vids, clean and easy to understand. Much appreciated.
Thanks for the guide, your way works much better for me. Thanks Man!
I couldn't figure out how to do the small knob and then I watched ur video and it really helped
Thanks man this helped a lot there's so much more grip now thanks
Thanks for the great videos. Just bought some new hockey gear and haven't skated in like 12+ years. When I was a kid my Dad always taped up my stick for me, lol. You made it look super easy, thank you.
Thanks for taking the time to post J.Awesome!!!
Thanks so much! I loved the spinning the tape to make finger grips idea!
Used this method to tape my new stick and it feels great! Thanks for a great video!
Great tips, like how you keep the knob at the top short. For years I used the full width of the tape, which is unnecessary, adds extra weight and wastes tape. Also good point on using white tape for the grip, as it leaves less marks. Will be doing this for my kids from now on. Great video, thanks for sharing.
I tape my stick with an led precision laser, with an automatic built in hammer style shooting apparatus. My stick cost my dad 13 thousand dollars but he says i need to be in the nhl.
+Eric Cartmenez 13 THOUSAND!? You mean, 13 Hundred??? $1,300... $13,000 dollars for a stick is like the same amount for a new car... (I've never heard of such a thing...)
Eric Cartmenez Okay, I get it... You're joking and it wasn't a typo... You should do "Stand Up"... I'm sure you'd be a hit, eeeerrrrr...
pears009 DURRRR use your brain
This had me dead
Love the videos. Keep em coming!
Thanks for this great video I really love that grip job and I will be using that for now on thanks 😀
Thanks, this really helped.
Thank you so much for this video! My son just started hockey and I had no idea how to "hockey" at all, and this helped so much!
Great job and you make great videos every time
That was really helpful. Thank you!
awsome video, awsome channel, the best on youtube! cheers mate!
Thank you my uncle got me a hockey stick for christmas and I got rollorblades from my parents this helped me tape my stick thank you.
Thanks for the tip! Works great.
This was helpful! Thank you!
@jgcanux It does add weight, but it is all about preference. Some NHL guys will tape the entire shaft like a candy cane, same add a grip at the half way point so they have grip when they take slapshots and know the sweet spot. It's all about what you like!
incredibly thorough thank you
great informative videos!
Thank you for the video just started playing a few days ago so needed to know how to tape the stick
Again, informative vid and thanks.
This video helped me a lot. I do that small knob, but I always ripped the tape while taping. Now I can save the tape for when I re-tape my stick. Thanks.
Nice content dude 👌🏼 I support you
Solid. Thank you!
Thank you Jeremy! This helped me tape my hockey stick that i got for christmas.
thank you for your videos! my son just started hockey & now his stick looks professional!
Very helpful thank you
great video, thanks man!
thanks , that helped a lot , im gonna tape all of my stick like this now :)
dude your the best lol. I'm a beginner like doing hockey for about 1 month, i'm pretty good. my friend is 12 and he's in bantam aa and he says i could probably go to peewee aa. thanks to you, you have taught me many moves like slapshot, snapshot, wristshot, and tape jobs and drills. thanks to you, i actually have a good impression on my friends and they think i'm good for a beginner. once again, thanks :)
@smithy2t8 it couls be the type of tape you use. If you don't like the sticky feeling you can put a bit of baby powder on it.
These videos give me so much good nostalgia
Thanks a lot for your knowledgeable video. It was so easy to follow your instructions. Never thought of being a hockey mom, now I have to learn all these technics. 😅😅😅
Looks great 👍
this is great it helped me so much with taping my stick tysm for this
Thanks for this! 👍🏻🏒
Thank you! My husband works all the time and I am stuck trying to figure this out for my 1st time hockey kid and man this is helpful!!!!
Just used this technique yesterday...thank you!
Can confirm that that this was done perfectly and worked great on my Lacrosse shaft. Thank you.
This helped me so much thank you
Thank you so much, just in time 4 hockey season :D

Great! Thanks for making it easy 😄
awesome - thx for the vid, man!
Great video, nice to see you repping Canada :)
Thanks for the video!!!
i split tape in half and make knob about 1/2 an inch thick, and i grip it down about a foot and a half with white tape... love the videos man, keep them coming!
Thanks Jeremy, getting back into an adult league after not playing since youth hockey, this is helpful
Thanks for the videos, I’m a subscriber now.
That grip tip was useful 🥳
I do my tape job the exact same way as you, it really works for me!
That's awesome. This is the way I have been doing my stick since the early 90's. my dad showed me, no idea how long he has done it for.
just tried doing what you did and i like it! breaking in my new stick tonight! :D
@Canusayblunt Just do the exact same thing as this video, but don't do the rope part. Do the top first, then tape down the shaft as far as you want.
46 year old beginner here, need to get up to speed to help out my son (and some exercise for dad). Thanks for the video. Sub’d
Your knob looks solid and quite firm. Well done you.
I love this way
doude thanks my stisk it awsome looking and feeling!
I like this technique. I do the handle the same way, just full width of tape, but this is a good tip on how to do more with less.
On the toe, I like 2 layers of tape for the soft cushion it gives when handling the puck.
Thank you its alot better for my to Play nice Channel and videos
i use a different method on the knob and i tried this method and it works for me better then my old method thanks.
I used to tape like this - I just discovered, this summer, tennis overgrip. Seriously. I make the knob with hockey tape, but then cover the top 10" with tennis overgrip. It's incredible. Stays tacky when wet, no grit like hockey tape, so it doesn't ruin your gloves. Love it!
Black tennis grip will still ruin your gloves
Logan Palmiter it hasn't so far. Hasn't even made a little bit of a mark. And there is no difference between black and white tennis over grip other than the colours. No textural difference at all.
I do it this way also with white overgrip tape. It doesn't last as long as it does on my racket but a good 15 games and it still holds up, still good feel and grip.
Regarding the plastic plug at the top of the stick. I put tape across that both ways to make sure it does not come out. It can come out and the first time it resulted in seven stitches to the little finger when top hand hit a stanchion between the glass panels - granted the gloves may have been worn out but that's a common situation.
Great video, anybody playing with helmet grilles should build a knob big enough that the top of the stick can no longer poke through the largest grill holes
good video, thanks.
I tape my blade the same way, but I do a candy cane design on the shaft so I have a grip on my whole shaft. I also use white for my blade and orange for the can't cane design on the shaft. this is on my street hockey stick
I’m getting a new stick and I didn’t know how to tape one, but with your help now I know
This was really, really, REALLY cool. Thanks a bunch for this technique! Love your videos!
I used boot laces for the grip...worked amazing
@F1rocastro189 yea i got through the cloth like nothing but i had some tar tape that worked pretty good i havent found any lately though
Haven’t wrapped a stick in years! Thanks for the refresh!
Nice!! Thanks...
you're a boss thanks man
