Here in Maine they use Crisco for making whoopie pies it is vegetable shortening mixed with sugar and a little vanilla for the inside of whoopie pies that is the cheap way to make them no not everyone makes them that way but that is the original recipe and that is gross
Nobody wants to talk about how Loretta Lynn‘s husband was morbidly obese and died in his 60s. She was rightly considered one of the queens of country music, but you couldn’t pay me to fry my chicken in that!
Animal based is the best and proven choice that we've used for centuries. These giant corporations have done a good job demonizing what we've always eaten from mother nature. Butter, beef tallow and ghee are my go tos. I'm 25 and consume almost a stick of butter a week plus red meats and cheese and dairy. Great energy levels and overall health.
My mom not only used seed oils for cooking, she sprayed everything with Pam, and she even made us eat Smart Balance and I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter just because she was lactose intolerant. I don’t remember Crisco being a common feature in our household, but I remember fried chicken cooked with Shake and Bake more than once. That little southern girl in the old commercial is probably somebody’s grandma by now.
I know this is a year old but I'm glad I always have used lard I can get from a locally owned butcher ancher, well all the fat cut off. Not hard to render. Every thing else home made butter from the farmers market. Grandpa an grandma lived long lives an had very few health issues. Leard at a young age to know what's going in body. Crisco I keep for a vented heater in the bedroom . Big can lasts about a month.
It is more proof that the food industry wants black people, white Southerners, and Mexicans to be morbidly obese and wants to make this a generational cycle. This is how poor neighborhoods stay poor.
I'm from this Era. Today's plant based and fat free is the same with Today's marketing tactics. The government isn't your friend. Do your homework to find truth.
Look I don't cook with crisco all the time in fact I always go for either olive oil or butter when I'm cooking but I'm sorry I don't care what anyone says there is nothing wrong with using crisco in moderation plus when I want to treat my family to my famous fried chicken crisco just can't be beat also for some people money can be tight and crisco is an affordable option for cooking/baking

You can't find Marshmallow Fluff in most areas outside of New England.

This is the unhealthiest oil you can use for cooking.
Everything is unhealthy
@@reno43512 not true. plenty of healthy food. we’re just surrounded by a lot of bad stuff
Man made food like product that cancer follows.
Nature made the best oil from olives, avocados, and animal fats.
Not true.. Asian sewer grease is worse

coconut oyeille, olive oyeille, grapeseed oyeille, sunflower seed oyeille, soybean oyeille. Yum!
Lol. Glad someone else was bothered by how she says oil. Makes me cringe like how “moist” sounds.

She makes me say “AI AI AI AI AI!”
Up till the 70's bakery goods were tender but now they're hard as rocks; piecrusts especially.
Scary… unfortunately? Us boomers were pretty much raised on this crud… who knew?
This was what my mom used.

Yeah, government approved
"Quick spray of propane in your food!"😂😂😂
This is probably one of the single most destructive products ever released to consumers.
It is more proof that the food industry wants black people, white Southerners, and Mexicans to be morbidly obese and wants to make this a generational cycle. This is how poor neighborhoods stay poor.
My family always used olive oil for cooking and Mazola corn oil for frying.
was that a computer voiced narrator? That was some strange annunciation..
Sounds like it from time to time.
They should have hired a real voice actor. She sucks.
Growing up we always baked with Crisco. I now use butter.
Makes good pie crusts. But I have used lard and bacon fat for a lot of cooking and baking for many decades; however, oils have there purposes.
Thanks, for the knowledge
I love the way the narrator says oyill !
Almost like telephone operators in the 1950s.
Anyone else finish the video and didnt learn anything, coz youre too focused on the narration?
It started out as bearing grease and should have stayed there.
We don't have the enzymes to digest seed oils.
So it's made through a process. Gee, thanks for that.
This stuff is about as healthy as the Fluoride in our water and the dog crap in our front yards.
The dog crap will kill you last.

What a voice!!! Make it stop ✋
You mean stop the OYOLL!
i quite like the voice
🤣
I’m thankful my mom never used crap like this.
That was painful to listen to. "OY Yull Oy Yull OY Yull".
Sounds like Tricia Takanawa…..
So basically it's still dangerous. Smh...

These oils contain substances from petroleum, so you should use olive oil for your health
Is there anything wrong with drinking antifreeze in moderation? Crisco isn't edible, so don't eat it.
My Grandma and mother, Its all they used to cook with, And boy did that chicken taste good !
These oils contain substances from petroleum, so you should use olive oil for your health
Now you know why the food these days taste like crap. They took all the good stuff out of the oil😀
this video doesnt show how its made
It’s talking about how Crisco the company was made, not their products like shortening
Coconut oil all around.
and olive !
People think avocado is a vegetable?
Crisco makes the best pie crust and biscuits.
This woman needs to be the next angry narrator of How It’s Made. Her bizarre and grating pronunciations would fit right in.
Oielll 😂😂😂Oielll... Say that over and over again...Starts to sound weirder and weirder.
May as well drink crude oil!
Videoooo about oyeille, said with vocal fryyyyyyyy
You need oil to fry the fries.
Its made of the same stuff that comes out when they pop big cysts.
Never have believed a word NPR has said.
Simply thank you
Hey... Atleast it ain't Chinese Sewer grease..
Look that video up

Do they still make soap ? 🤔humm Chrisco soap ? Cotton seed oil hummmm ?
In other words don't eat it.
My grandmother made her homemade fries in crisco. They were so crispy and delicious. I use it as well when I'm craving her fries. 😋
This has nothing to do with how Crisco is made!! What a waste of time!
Great story but too many commercials! Will start looking elsewhere for entertainment.
I thought corn was a vegetable..lol
"Oyyye'ill"!
Well heack.. hey leave it up to man kind to mess things up. Look at the world today lol. God has provided everything we need right in front of us.
And in a few years, they'll come out with a study that says the opposite 🤦🏼♀️
