VEPR 7.62x54r with DELTAC Brake | AK-54 Muzzle Flash

Testing out a new muzzle brake, the DELTAC Slingshot, on my Molot VEPR 7.62x54r rifle. This Russian AK-54 rifle has a 16-inch barrel so a solid muzzle brake is needed to tame the recoil and muzzle climb. Originally the rifle was in a sporter configuration with only a muzzle nut on the end of the barrel. After removing the nut which protects the threads, I installed a Tapco slotted muzzle brake which worked well. I decided to pursue a muzzle brake upgrade and after looking around found the DELTAC Slingshot which was specifically designed with the x54r VEPR in mind.

Overall I really like the DELTAC Slinghot brake's performance. There was a small improvement over the Tapco slotted muzzle brake with recoil overall. The muzzle signature was surprisingly similar as well. In the end I have more confidence in the longevity of the DELTAC over the Tapco brake. The quality of the material, tighter tolerances and overall craftsmanship is well worth the small price jump from Tapco products.

Nice to see you shooting her. I bought a Vepr in 54R years ago after watching you upgrade yours. Glad I did as they are so expensive now. One of my fav rifles to shoot just wish I had bought more ammo when it was cheaper.

That look cool. But I would go with a TSS Fire strike muzzle brake / flash hider hybrid. You don’t want so much flash if you want hunt at night. Or if this is your SHTF rifle.
