Songs from the Philippines are sung all over the world in the choral community. We have sung some songs composed by the Filipino composers from this side of the world , Nagaland and we absolutely love singing it . More power to the people of Philippine. May you compose more beautiful songs for the world to sing . ❤
as an Antiqueña, "Kruhay" is not limited to just this meaning. we shout it during Binirayan festival, and is also a form of agreeing, an "amen", a greeting, a joyous shout.
Is this song Kinaray-a or Karay- a. What is the proper spelling BTW. My parents are from Dao Antique. They used to send me there during school beaks. Learned about TUMAWO when my auntie used to scare me to get home by 6pm 😊
woooh! Goosebumps! All the surprises in this chorale - the hand bells, the short screams, foot stomping, and your amazing native attire. I just feel so proud of you Lawrence.
This is another masterpiece you've done which is so exciting to watch, full of surprises from within the chorale! The hand bells, the foot stomping, the short shrieks and cackles that add to the color of the message. Then there is that native tribal piece you wore. It's like watching two dimensions as it brings Mindanao on an American stage. Finally, I am at awe with the movements of your conducting. It's literally a dance. It's like sign language with a choreography. This video just makes my heart swell with pride. Hopefully you also upload a video of the rehearsal like you did with Rosas Pandan. That was just awesome. Your passion and hard work and deep understanding and purpose of what you are doing just draws us into how hard chorale work and conducting work really is. Mabuhay ka, Lawrence. 💖💖
I'm not from Antique, I am an Ilonggo. However, I understand most of the lyrics since Kinaray-a/Karay-a has similarities to Hiligaynon. This sounds like it is from heaven.
Love it. You shared our folklore song specially our native language in the Philippines. So proud I cried and I have goosebumps each time your chorale sing it. May God bless you more and praise you. You made us proud for keeping to love our filipino s💛💛💛💛👍👍👍👏👏👏👏🌺🌺🌺👋
Truly amazing! This song composed by my good college frienf from the University of San Agustin, Benny Castillon, tells of a bittersweet story of our island, Panay Island, in the Philippines... It gave me goosebumps just listening to these fantastic voices...
I love this piece. hehehe It brings me joy to see foreign choirs/artists sing Filipino pieces. Though they sing in a quite romantic style, they still sound so good.
Kruhay is a different levels, very challenging arrangements a good conductor is not enough it must be a really great conductor to give justice to the piece congratulations to the choir and to Lawrence
Ngayon ko lang narinig at napanood, ang husay ng mga musikero at conductor at ang pagkaayos ng piyesa! I have to look up the story y meaning of the song yet.Salamat pô!
Lawrence manifested a shaman... summoning the deep spirit within ... to find its way in such beautiful ethnic, exotic sound via d choir... great team... bravoo!!
They could definitely do Doxologia Arr. Matthew Maniano! Philippine Madrigals did it in Busan but I believe you guys can do this piece justice as well!
A product of hard work and dedication is apparent in this rendition of Kruhay which was made more interesting because it was performed by a foreign choir. Congratulations!
“Kruhay!” does not always mean long-live, and I say this as an Antiqueño who speaks Kinaray-a. It has the same multiple meanings as “aloha”. We shout Kruhay! when we celebrate, agree with someone, have fun, etc. 😊
Kiniray-a is the language/ dialect spoken somewhere in the southern half of Antigue province in the western side / edge of Panay island. If you look at the map, Antique's geographical shape is long. There MIGHT be some variations moving from north to south and the other way around.
Kinaray-a is my mother tongue... This is the original language of Panay Island in the Philippines... The song tells the story of how our island was bartered for a golden 'sadok' (a kind of wide-brimmed hat) and a string of pearls, so long that when worn on the neck it touches the ground with its length (manangyad)...
Lawrence you have to let them sing the tagalog song like Ay Ay Ay Oh Pagibig or Paro parong bukid. You did the Rosas Pandan which is Cebuano then this Kruhay which Kinaray a from Panay. Just a suggestion. Thanks!
Hi Lawrence, just saw your Utah Univ chorale practice about Rosas Pandan and I love how you put yourself to make it good. May I know if you are a Filipino as well?
It’s a great effort to assemble this chorale group with no knowledgeable depth of understanding the every lyric of the song. It was good that conductor Lawrence Laureano managed to make them understand and embraced the melodies and lyrics as their own music! Bravo!
T'boli bells. They're using the handheld ones. It's originally attached to a belt, similar to the belly dancing belts. ua-cam.com/users/shortscYl8Xjy9Kck?si=gISrHhWGcpjgfyXc
Congratulations!.The composer of KRUHAY is my friend from Iloilo City Sir Beny Castillon.

Philippine choral pieces are difficult but colorful! You nailed it! 🥳👍🏻🥰
Kruhay means Long Live, is a native greeting of the people from Antique, a province in Panay Island in the Philippines....

Kruhay from Antique!
The singers were able to express how this will sound or be executed and performed by experienced Filipino choral singers.

They could definitely do Doxologia Arr. Matthew Maniano! Philippine Madrigals did it in Busan but I believe you guys can do this piece justice as well!

I would prefer if they also used the percussion instrument that was originally created along with this. Anyway they sounded great too. Kudos!
Chills. Very very very wonderful. On-point.
as a filipino, i don't know what Kruhay means or what kiniray a is, but this performance is awesome 👏👏👏❤
