@@cscutler Let me tell you a little story...
I'm in ministry. A few years back I was asked by a sweet little lady if she should go to the wedding of her lesbian daughter because she didn't want to sin against God. I told her yes, having written about this issue before when it was presented to me.
She went and afterward wrote me how it was one of the wisest things she did. She said when her daughter first saw her, she broke down in tears because she thought her mother wouldn't come. The mother said she felt no compromise in the spirit or of her faith. She said when her daughter first came out to her, there was a closeness that was gone, until that moment she went to this marriage. She said she felt she got her daughter back and thanked God for it. Two people were blessed that day. The daughter for the rest of her life will remember her Godly mother going to this important occasion, and she will think of the God of her mother because of it. On gay social media, I have seen account after account of gay men and women who invited their parents to their wedding and the parents didn't go because of the advice given to them like the one in the video above. The fruit of it was hurt, bitterness, parents feeling justified in their self-righteousness, and a hate of the God of the parents who made them unloving to their child. You will know a thing by its fruit.
I pray you see the error of what you speak.

Tragic loss of direction. The gospel isn't to build bridges to accommodate those who Jesus said are going through the wide gate of destruction. The grandmother is part of the bride of Christ and must avoid all appearance of validating anything contrary to the teachings of Christ. I think the appearance thing is invalid. She said she told them point blank their "marriage" was sinful and wrong so I am not sure mere attendance is now some type of validation. We can't judge someone that attended a wedding in this type of scenario to keep some relationship or communication open with her grandson. Bottom line she gave them the truth and it is personal conviction with she thinks she has liberty to attend or not.

The example was a man marrying a trans woman.
Isn't the truth that a man should marry a woman? A trans woman is a woman. The fact this fallen world gave her a male body is not her fault. She is overcoming this world by declaring who God truly made her. Would you have her conform to this world instead?

Thank you so much for bringing this to Light and analyzing it so thoroughly. What a grave disappointment Begg's statement is! The issue is serious enough that if he doesn't repent soon, it will impact his heretofore faithful ministry. A couple, dear friends of mine, dealt with this situation a few years ago. In talking and praying with my friend, who was understandingly distraught, I suggested that she and her husband not attend because that would lend credence and acceptance or blessing of the union. She agreed. "But affirm to your loved one that your love for him will never falter and that you will continue to pray for him and the other young man, that they will repent and come into right relationship with Christ. My question is this: Why would someone even want guests at the ceremony who would be grieving and hurting so deeply with every word that was spoken. Any tears that fell would be bitter ones, not celebratory. Like you, brother, I hope grandma did NOT take Begg's advice.

Tim, I could not agree more with your take on this issue. It’s one thing to want to counter the multitudinous haters out there in “Christian” circles, but affirming sin is not loving. I had a friend years ago, a man I worked with, who was an open homosexual. He was a lovely man and I liked him, and for whatever reason, he liked me, too. He let me preach to him, which I did often. But I wouldn’t have attended parties at his house, and when he was dying I gave him a tape of Christian music I had sung for him to listen to as he lay sick. I wasn’t able to be with him when he was sick, but I did what I had at hand and in my heart at the time. If marriage had been legal then and he had invited me to attend his wedding, I would have declined, and he would have understood, and in all likelihood respected me for being true to my convictions. This is what I consider one of the big hills to die on, that of planting your flag for the Name and Honor of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who himself affirmed marriage in Matthew 19. IMHO, they have, at the behest of the lord they serve whether they realize it or not, invaded the church and demanded recognition and acceptance in no way for love of Christ or repentance for sin, but to invade and destroy the church from within. Having said all that, I can’t begin to express how Alastair’s words saddened and grieved me.

And as Jesus reclined at table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and were reclining with Jesus and his disciples. And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” But when he heard it, he said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. Go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”_

Alister believes homosexuality and transgenderism is sin, yet tells the grandmother to go and celebrate a marriage that is sinful and no marriage at all. And when Jesus ate with the sinners and tax collectors he was not celebrating their behavior, he was calling them to repentance. The grandmother was not advised to go to the wedding to call her grandson to repentance, but to celebrate the event. You don't understand that passage very well. Repent from what? Telling a Grandma she did well to directly confront and condemn her grandchild's sinful conduct? But tell her she could consider attending the sham civil ceremony of a wedding for purposes of maintaining some relationship with them? Where is the sin to repent from? If grandma attends the ceremony what his her sin? Homosexuality? She didn't commit that sin. Sin of "blessing" the "marriage?" She told them she didn't approve. So Alistair's and grandma's sin is that someone might mistakenly think she approved of the sin of homosexuality by her mere attendance. Just like the religious leaders condemned Jesus for dining with sinners because someone might associate Jesus with sin and sinners. I am not sure that is a sin if someone else mistakenly thinks you approve of something you don't. Especially when both Alistair and Grandma have condemned homosexual conduct and have held firmly to the Biblical definition of marriage. It is personal conviction about attending the ceremony or not.

What did Jesus say about eating with sinners?
This narrative is told in Matthew 9:10-17, Mark 2:15-22, and Luke 5:29-39.[1]
The Pharisee rebuke Jesus for eating with sinners, to which Jesus responds, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick."

The narrative primarily shows Jesus' emphasis on mercy as opposed to self-righteous judgment.

I have been listening to Alistair Begg nearly every day for over 10 years and I know him to be a very conservative expositor of the Word of God. I know that he is not capitulating to those who don’t have a high regard for Scripture. I think what Alistair is saying is that we can hold on to our Biblical beliefs without burning a relational bridge over which the Gospel might one day travel. Paul gives us guidance in these matters in 1 Cor. 5.9-10, “I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people-not at all meaning the sexually immoral of this world …. , since then you would need to go out of this world…” One of the most frequent criticisms directed toward Jesus by the religious hall monitors of His day was that He was a friend of sinners. Do you think Jesus only became their friend after their repentance? If that were the case, the accusation would make no sense. Today, the people of the world must meet Jesus through His people, and we must learn how to reach them without compromising the Word. I think this was the intent of Alistair Begg’s comments on this modern day challenge for followers of Christ.

As a born again believer in Jesus Christ I want to take all steps to insure that I'm not left behind when the tribulation judgement begins.
There is an almost 2,000 year old prophecy that says the day is coming when you'll have to have a 'mark' in your right hand or your forehead in order to buy or sell.
In the 70's I thought people would have to be branded like cattle but that was because the technology was not invented yet. When the globalists talk about the 'great reset' it means they intend to collapse the global economy and replace cash with a digital monetary system. A bio metric device or implant will allow you to tap your hand or scan your forehead.
The problem in a digital system is that you will be tracked so you'll have to be obedient or they'll turn off your account.
The elites also plan '15 minute cities' where everything will be within fifteen minutes of where you live. A digital system insures that you won't try to leave.

Do we stay away from weddings and fellowship with gay members of the family, or do we lovingly tell them where we stand but still care about them? Hello BTWN News, (Sorry that I don't know your first name.). I am so amazed to be learning that Alistair has so badly compromised The Scriptures.... Yikes!!! I've never heard him speak live, but friends of mine have attended his lectures over at The Cove Retreat Center, in Asheville, N. C., which was founded by Billy Graham, who by the way, also was "Apostate" concerning the Lordship of Jesus concerning the basis for True Salvation, and what he stated about other religions who don't acknowledge Jesus as Saviour and Lord) and up to this moment I have had quite a bit of respect for Alistair...... but not now at all! He's supposed to be a great "Theologian" but obviously he's completely disregarding what our Brother Paul stated in Romans 1:16-32 concerning "the wrath of God being revealed against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men (and women) who by their unrighteousness suppress the Truth." As we know, Paul also wrote concerning the rise of "Apostasy" in these last days as Satan will deceive "as many as The Elect" as possible. I'm going to contact The Cove on Monday, and state my outrage at Begg's statements concerning homosexuality. As you probably know, The Pope recently made several similar statements concerning "Gay Unions." Homosexuals and Lesbians simply can't get married..... because their Uniuons are Satanically-based and not based on God's definition of Marriage. Last summer, Amy Grant welcomed her Lesbian Niece to use her and Vince's farm, here in the Franklin, TN area, for their wedding, and that action upset me just as much as Alistar's statements...... Oh well Gang........ just keep your seatbelts securely fastened, and keep your mind and heart totally fixated on The Scriptures....... all of them...!!! Ted Schempp, Nashville

One of the biggest reasons people reject Jesus and the idea of Christianity is because of the rampant hypocrisies the world sees in those who confess the faith. Attending the ceremony, when people know you fundamentally disagree with it, shouts hypocrisy. G'ma can still show love to both grandson and the partner outside of the ceremony. That would speak louder and with more clarity than what Begg has recommended here. What he is saying will only breed more contempt for Christians, muddy the waters, and cause snowballing compromise. This kind of thing is what destroyed many denominations and what led to the seeker sensitive movement, among others. It's shameful.

If she had answered no to those questions, I may be wrong, but I believe he would have given her different advice. If you out right ask Alistair if he affirmed gay weddings, there is NO doubt he would say NO. Some people see or take one comment and throw the whole man and his ministry to the dogs. The man loves God and His word! I will continue to support him and Truth for Life!

Alistair did nothing wrong. He didn't waiver on God's definition of marriage. So what, you all disagree with his logic of attending a gay wedding. How many of you have attended a godless heterosexual wedding? How many have out-of-wedlock children in your family or extended family. I hope you all don't attend any thing related to these sinners. Or you better repent. One can argue that it is showing love by attending, one can argue it takes more love not attending. Quit making things up where there is no doctrinal error. Alistair condemns homosexuality and transgenderism. It is simply personal opinion how you deal with situations in real life as long as you are not compromising the truth. Grandma said she wasn't compromising. She told them they were wrong. She told them the Bible condemns their conduct. It is then a personal opinion or conviction about whether to attend or not. I understand you all feel that mere attendance at a wedding is approval and blessing. Well, that is not everyone's feeling. I have attended heterosexual weddings that I didn't approve of. I have celebrated the birth of children where I have not approved of the conduct of the parents of that child. I have celebrated the Fourth of July and I have a lot of reasons to condemn the USA for the blood of innocent children on its hands to name one reason.
Alistair is a sold minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and has not wavered one iota on the truth and the Biblical definition of marriage. That is the bottom line. Disagree on his opinion and advice regarding ATTENDING a gay marriage, but I think anyone that says he needs to repent etc. is out of line and not firmly on Biblical grounds. You must understand that many of us do not equate attendance with approval. If that were the case I would pretty much have to lock myself in a box and never come out.

Great point about the hypothetical ride to the abortion clinic. Begg has left himself with no logical basis for condemning that, although I'm not sure we can be completely confident that he would even want to condemn doing that, given that he is a council member of Downgrade Inc./aka The Gospel Coalition.

I worked in the NYC Retail community for over 30 years of my life. I was in communication and dealings with people on a professional level that were into every lifestyle you can imagine. It took me years to put aside the inner disdain I had in this and come to love others as God Loves Us. It does not mean we embrace or suffer the immorality, but the person. Sinners are not to be rejected, but prayed for. Since Christ came with Love to save the ungodly, then there is no line to be drawn when it comes to Love. That's not saying we agree or endorse the immorality, it's saying since God is Love, we do well to Love as well.

Alistair isn’t affirming their lgbt wedding, Alistair asked questions about the relationship between the grandmother and how well her grandson understands that she doesn’t affirm his choices. She still has to be in relationship with him. That would be an extremely tough reality. I wouldn’t go and I would try to gently explain why.

But he is telling her to attend and give a gift, thus she would be affirming their sin. A pastor (who is a shepherd) is not supposed to do this. This is very serious. He should have told her to tell him how much she loves him, and for that reason she is telling him the truth, and giving him the gospel, so that he won't go to hell.
That is love, but this is compromise.

Pretty sure Alistair will see the error in this, especially after preaching through Jude recently and showing the scriptural condemnation of all homosexuality. You still have to express your love to unbelievers, whether their sin is 'little' or 'big.' Under necessity, our trans granddaughter (who has never been in a sexual relationship) is living with us. Do we kick her out onto the street and excommunicate her from the family? Then we'd have to do the same to all our other friends and family whose sins run the gamut of adultery, fornication, and idolatry to milder forms of unbelief. I think Alistair was saying you still want to show love and you can do it in various ways. But going to a ceremony shouldn't be one of them, in my opinion.

I, thoroughly, agree with Pastor Begg. I consulted my own staunch Pastor about my JW granddaughter's wedding 5 years ago. My granddaughter KNOWS my Biblical Christian beliefs. He advised me to attend my granddaughter's wedding and I am glad I did. She's still a Jehovah's Witness and I still am a Christian. I am hoping that my presence at that wedding might have planted a 'mustard seed'. My wedding card would've left no doubt what my beliefs were, too. Prayers are always sent on their behalf. The rest, I am leaving in GOD's hands - where it belongs.
