They have no reason to brumate when temperatures are not cold. They sleep up to 14 hours a day which is not them being in brumation because they are actually sleep during this time and not just slowing down because of cold temperatures.
@@tonyamcinvale-brown5950its normal mines usually brumates starting in September til april no matter what temperature you keep the enclosure and come out once in a while for food and water
@@lovelydreamer5575ur wrong, fyi. It is brumation. If the tempurature changes even slightly outside during fall/winter, it changes the tempurature inside including inside the terranium, so the animal is able to sense even a tiny change in temperature. Brumation is something stamped into their dna from years of evolution so that they can survive. Beardies in captivity don't always brumate, but a lot do.
Omg the photo shoped sleep mask on the video tag is so got damned funny 😂 holly shit i needed that so much 😅 god i love thiss dude absolutely in my tope 3 most favorite educational reptile channels on UA-cam.. ive wqrched everry video atleqst twice even if it doesnt always pertain to my bearded dragon. You can NEVER have enough knowledge. About anything....ever..... knowledge is power people. SOAK IT UP 😊
My beardie has gone into brumation the last 4-5 years. Just boom, out for a few months. No change in lights or food. It is great....hahaha. He awoke yesterday. Now back to lizard maintenance.
This is so insightful. I get my new boy on Thursday and I’ve been soaking in all the information I possibly could for the past year. I feel more prepared for this part. Thank you for the advice!
Been watching your videos for a while i love the tips you give on this channel its helped me alot with my bearded dragon definitely the best channel for information on youtube
The only fluctuation in temp in my bearded dragons tank is at night when the basking and UV lights go out. My dragon settles in for the night and goes to sleep. I do keep a ceramic heat lamp on just to keep the tank temp over 70 (usually 75-78) at night. During the day with all 3 lamps on it gets 85-90 in the middle of the tank and he can choose his temp. I've noticed the cool side is around 75-80 during the day. His basking spot varies a little but it's usually 95-98. He seems to prefer staying on the hotter side but under his hammock during the morning and early afternoons, by evening he is in the basking spot or close to it for the heat, and before lights out he usually is back under the hammock. His tank is beside my bed with the cool side closest to me and he seems to like sleeping on the side closest to me. He does like to wake me up in the morning by clawing at the tank closest to me if I'm not up within an hour of the lights coming on. I set them up on a timer because my last job I didn't get home until very late, so this way he had a steady day/night cycle.
I'm no expert, but I kinda have to disagree with the decision to not let him brumate. It's said from all corners of the internets that it is generally good to let them do it.
HEY IM NEW TO THIS BUT IS THERE A WAY I CAN TALK TO YOU ABOUT MY DRAGON? ILL PAY WHATEVER YOU CHARGE I JUST REALLY NEED HELP AND NO VET IN MY AREA IS OPEN TODAY. PLEASE SEE THIS BECAUSE I NEED HELP ASAP. ILL DO ANYTHING JUST FOR SOME ADVICE RIGHT NOW BECAUSE WE CANT LOOSE OUT BABY
Ahhh the ac triggered it. I was wondering bc summer just beginning. I’m in Ontario canada and the weather be wildinnn. Prepping my room to maintain heat (blankets on wall ect)
We just noticed one of our lights went out and all of a sudden he has burried himself a little bit and he is sleeping. Its been 2- 3 days. I'm going to replace the bulb and see what happens.
I live in Pennsylvania. Is it to early for brumation? My bearded dragon will not eat and when I try to give him food he closes his eyes. He hardly moves. He also seems like he is hiding. He will go under his hammock for days and never move from that spot for days. He did poop the other day and he gapes every so often.
My Dragon not going into Brumation mine did it last year and her heat was the same mine is 110 and cool side is 75 76 and she still went into that she getting ready to lay her 4 clutch of eggs not fertile thou...thanks Elion.....
I am glad he made this video as most people believe that it's ok to let your dragons brumate. Another thing is that they will have undigested food in their belly and that could cause gut rot. It would be the same if you went to sleep and didn't move around much. You would be constipated and your stomach would hurt. On the cool side I wouldn't add more light, but rather a CHE. They need to know the "sun" side and cool side.
This video is very misleading and partially wrong, according to his vet. You make it sound like you can make them go into brumation or stop it you cant force it, and every i read, and his exotoc vet told me to leave him alone so he could sleep.
Thanks for the tips! I get so lonely when my dragons go into brumation every year!
This video came at just the right time!!! I was wondering why my dude wasn’t getting out of his bed. This totally makes sense! Thank you!!
It’s not always just the temperature… they brumate by instinct sometimes every dragon’s different
Thanks..cause mine usually up in morning for veggies..but he is sleeping..all night..and still sleep with light on..is this normal?

Now we know why blue is always angry. Temp was annoying him.😂
