If i’m not mistaken ross could have bought himself another turn in g1 leading with loam for barbarian ring: if it resolved he could have gone play ring and activate, if it didn’t he could have cast the p.fire and survive the next attack

He was just not playing around force because makes sense. You can't always play around everything. He was trying to play towards a win. Every turn is a draw towards lightning bolt.
