  • Due to the interest in a previous high rpm spin of one of the radial engine models, I decided to build another engine with the sole purpose of spinning it faster and faster until it destroys itself.

    I can see the 1st motor you built is sitting proud in your garage, glad you didn't destroy that one as it is so fricking cool. Awesome video. Thank you so much for talking about this very fascinating engine. I've learned a lot from just your 3 videos.

    Sooo much precision work to just destroy!!!

    It's a pity such a beautiful model engine got destroyed. How many hours did you toil to build it, and then blew it in a few seconds.

    You can see in the comments two type of people. Ones who built models with small homemade explosives in them when they were kids and the ones who didn’t.😂

    Time to rebuild or recreate one but limit 950Rpm is the best because we see 100RPM is to high for this engine but yeah its shame to see this destroyd that explain why this engine never be build in wood 😅

    It would probably help if it had lubrication.

  • @artyfarty87
    @artyfarty87 8 місяців тому

    oh, just thought of another thing....for your next build would you consider using lubrication of some type, eg: chalk or graphite?...might help at higher RPM's...??? maybe??? 🙂

    Awesome man! Thanks for taking all the time to make it. I watched it with my radial engine class in Iowa.

    That was awesome!, surprised it stayed together as long as it did! I never could understand exactly how a radial engine worked until I watched your original videos years ago. That was cool to watch!

    Your two previous videos were amazing, I've never seen such a fantastic model of a radial engine. This video made me cry, such a beautiful piece of workmanship destroyed! We could do with one of your models in any of the science or aeronautical museums here in the United Kingdom, it makes it so much easier to understand what is going on internally.

    So i have been learning about radials for about 6 months now, and I had an idea on how to make a new type of radial, and i have combed through hundreds of videos for different radials and how they work and the only vods that were ever made that properly explained it and made me actually understand was you, i have tons of questions, and not many people can answer em, so if you could that would be awesome!

      Shall i keep the piston equi angular or the angle between pistons should be different? I am making siz cylinder radial engine, the problem that i am facing with all piston spaced equi angularlybis that i am getting three sets of bdc's , like two opp Pistons bdc from the centre of crank shows different measurement than the other.

    ok now you know the final rpm, so what? what have you gained?If you would have done this on a real engine I could see a purpose
    but a wooden motor? I recommend that you built one out of clay and then just drop it in slow motion from the second floor
    of your house and see if it breaks... then write a full research paper on it

    An R-985, in iron & steel, wouldn't dream of spinning faster than 24 - 2500 RPM. So it kinda checks out.
