That is what makes him an actor to be looked at if they want to study acting. He always did have a reputation, not a bad one necessarily, of being able to set the temperature of any room with such subtly that it does give you a bit of an uncomfortable feeling. I'm sure she's in of the joke, for lack of a better word, and if not he told her afterwards. Janet Leigh used to talk about him doing this during the original filming and she liked it.
Psycho II was one of the best sequels ever in my opinion...horror or otherwise, They could have catered to the slasher craze emerging at the time, but thank goodness they didnt! I believe they did justice to the original
Considering it took Perkins 22 years to come to terms with his iconic role, it must have taken a lot for him to embrace it professionally - and then to go on to make Psychos 3 and 4! To think we nearly had Christopher Walken as Norman. Initially, Perkins demanded too high a salary, but agreed to amend this when making the sewuel. Reading his body language in this interview, he does appear wary here, but Bobbie is a pro as always, as is Perkins, who provides thoughtful, intelligent answers. Loving this archive, so many insights! 😊
To put it mildly, Tony clearly doesn't seem to care for the interviewer. I wonder if he had negative interactions with her in the past. Regardless, he really looks like a movie star here.
I think that is Anthony Perkins messing with her a little by having part of that Norman Bates persona just channeled a bit differently and I think it was his intention to give the viewer a chance to remember how they felt/thought after seeing Psycho for the first time. I think he was trying to do that because I never heard of him just not liking someone for no reason and she may have been in on the joke too.
I enjoyed Psycho 2. It’s amazing how much life changed from 1960-1980. I think the scene she’s talking about is the lady covered with coal! I liked the psycho sequels, they should have continued like a series lol “Bates Motel”
For anyone thinking he behaves a little strange at the start: I think it has to do with Bobbie Wygant. She was a strange woman. Watch her interviews where you see her without cuts. She often acts like a robot, puts on a fake frozen smile, nods continuously while the interviewed person answers, seeminlgy without even listening and drops the smile in a second to go to the next question. Very irritating. I appreaciate her for her intelligence though and for giving so many interviews.
It was his prívate life. That has nothing to do with his talento, his charming and hid brillant carrer. I suggest you to watch The trial, Friendly Persuasión, Good bye again.. Magnific performances 🤗🙏🤗🙏
This guy creeps me out, he acts like a psycho in this interview that's for sure, Bobbie is so nice so not sure why he's being so rude. He did seem far nicer in the Psycho 3 interview.
Anthony Perkins is definitely not rude here. His answers to her questions are well though-out and intelligent. He certainly takes her seriously and is thus showing her respect.
He’s not rude. He just likes freaking people out with that eye glare. I would ask how did he come up with that eye glare at the end of Psycho 1? that glare with the mother’s voice was absolutely diabolical
This interview is really unfortunate. He seems impatient. I know this is likely one of the press junket days where he had a never-ending line of journalists asking him the same questions over and over. I could give him the benefit of a doubt, but he looked downright annoyed with this woman. Even menacing, at times. It can't be easy to sit across from the most infamous boogeyman of her generation with such a look of indifference on his face. The woman here was clearly out of her element in seeing a film such as this (Sorry - Though I'm a lifelong fan of this franchise, "Psycho 2," as compared to the classic 1960 film, is much more violent). Simply due to the era in which it was made, it HAD to be more violent if only to contend with how desensitized audiences had become to gore and violence after films like "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre,""Halloween," "Friday the 13th," and "A Nightmare on Elm Street." It was for these reasons Gus Van Sant's ill-fated remake was both greenlit and it was for these reasons it failed spectacularly. No other film genre had evolved faster from the 1960's to the mid-1980's than the horror. "Psycho" shocked puritantical taboos by showing a toilet onscreen. "Psycho II" one-upped it by showing it overflowing with blood. Enough said.
To me it seems clear, particularly at the end of the interview, that Anthony Perkins rather liked Bobbie Wygant. The answers he provide to her questions are interesting, nice, intelligent, honest. He takes her seriously.
@@user-kj1pq6zh3x Who's making what up? We all watched the same video, honey. If I interpret it a different way, that doesn't mean I "make something up."
A very smart and intelligent man. Would love to have met him even for a few mins. Amazing actor. RIP.
Perkins was undeniably good in the sequel. He knew this character inside out
What a classy man...
Great actor and an intelligent gentleman.
I could listen to his voice all day😍
me too!
@@user-bj2lu9qt3o me too! Kim
SO HANDSOME he doesn't even look 51 here at all! Kimberly
"Psycho 2" traumatized me when I was 14 years old.
lol yes, I was 12 when it came out; first time I saw it was on HBO, in our living room, late on a dark Saturday night and it Terrfied me!!
Bobbie is Wonderful.
And low key pretty damn beautiful for her age
Lol those looks he’s giving. He was the perfect choice to play Norman. He was wonderful
Not much acting required.
Wow. He was incredibly wary of her. Whole body language is different here to his usual demeanour

Psycho 2 was underrated
Agreed

I love the sequels. Norman Bates in the 80's!

He came back for another interview when he released Psycho III.

I've always thought he looked a lot like George Hamilton at this point (1983) in time ....
Got the feeling he didn’t like the interviewer
I think he and George Hamilton look a lot alike.
LOL Same! I just typed as much, up above! 8-D

its funny and most disturbing wen the woman walks past the window in psycho 1, not revealed till later thats Norman on one of his benders.
His same evil deadly view, just like Norman when he look on her^^
Why does he look so much like George Hamilton here.
3:58 - 4:28 he was in a good place. 😊
scary bastard in psycho and all its sequels, part 3 particularly.
Is that Anthony's mother interviewing him?
Lol no
He is sitting there and he looks terrified hahahahahaha..it's sad that he denied his homosexuality though :) o well

Anthony Perkins is definitely not rude here. His answers to her questions are well though-out and intelligent. He certainly takes her seriously and is thus showing her respect.

Fuck off mate, stop trying to smear his name. He did nothing to his boys as you very well know.
