      @@arthurfrayn2652 if you find the wheels, i guess yes, because i bet they use the same fenders.
      I dont even have a beetle, but i wanted to get some 16" thin spare wheels with tires and modify the center to have a 5 bolt original center. Since you cant find small wheels or tyres today.
      Magnesium wheels are pretty cool on beetle too.

    The Beetle was and still is extremely popular in Brazil, known to be one of the most reliable cars ever sold in here, no matter what part of the country you're in, you will always see at least 1 Beetle at every corner.

      Usually "condition" of the roads decided what ground clearance vehicles should have. Back in 1940s, road conditions required "that" ground clearance

      @@yousafzaiaa7453 Ground clearance is about three and a half inches higher than a standard beetle. A standard beetle don't need much because of the flat bottom and rear engine design. You can get through some pretty rough stuff in a standard beetle if you straddle it at an angle with a little momentum.

    They are beetle bodies on kubelwagen chassis, that explains the extra ground clearance. They also would have the gear reduction boxes at the rear wheels.

    The soldiers shown in the video are British. Wolfsburg was in the British sector of occupied post-WW2 Germany. Major Ivan Hirst of the British Army decided that the wrecked VW factory had potential, and got production underway. He saved the Beetle.
    I was looking out for military versions of the early post-WW2 Beetle - some got a roller set in the front bumper to help the car through 'difficult' terrain. There was even a 4wd version.

    La verdadera genialidad de este auto No fue su motor enfriado por aire. Que era bueno, pero bueno a secas.
    El alma que esté auto raro tirando a simpático era su trasmisión de ejes flotantes y cambios o velocidades sincronizadas y diferencial ...Todo en un puente central .
    Esta trasmisión estaba adelantada fácilmente 30 años , una trasmisión así haría ver bien a casi cualquier motor.
    Ahora el motor VW enfriado por aire, este motor nunca fue ideado para los lugares sin agua como desierto...este motor fue ideado para lugares muy fríos , donde el agua dentro de los motores revientan el monoblock. Cosa que hizo su perfecta adaptación a los desiertos del mundo en especial de Oeste Américano y norte de México.
    Un gigante muy simpático. Pero llegó el momento de dejarlo.
    ¡ El Fürer de los autos !

      Had 13 miles on it, I added 60,000 miles and it never needed a valve job. Even ran it in night rallies. You're right. It was tough.

      I think the earliest ones made after the war were made for the British military. Maybe they're military versions, hence the high ground clearance? .

    Loved my 1971 Super Beatle! It was as easy to fix as a lawnmower. In college I had the John Muir book (Keeping Your VW alive) it was the very first "idiot" book! Someone mentioned ground clearance. Funny how SUV's became a popular choice because of good ground clearance. Thumbs up!

    My dad had several of the bugs but one in particular had some stuff done to it and had 15” steel studded mud grips on the back and it would go where 4x4’s would spin out climbing up hills seen it done!

      If you notice the military markings. For on/off road use. Weight being over the drive wheels means they aren't too crappy on loose surfaces.

    Back in the sixties my father bought one for my brother it was a 6 volt electrical system.
    I've owned three myself - a 1967 original import from Germany; a 1974 Super Beetle; a 1976 Baja.

    Esses atigos saõ fantasticos. Vao deixar saudade. Eles mostram o veiculo eletrico mais nunca uma competiçao ao vivo em relação ao convencional a alcool ou gasolina porque não querem passar vergonha.
    Realmente os veiculos eletricos são um engana bobos. TEM tem muito pouca altonomia , gastam muito tempo pra recarregar. São compactos para não poder encher de peso e gente como é feito nos a alcoool e gasolina. Usam muito poucas peças de ferro pra ficar bem leves e pequenos, disfarçar a falta de potencia e altonomia dos motores bem leves eles conseguem um resultado + ou -- satisfatório. ( pra compensar a força e competir com os a alcool e gasolina ou diesel, eles teriam que ter uma altonomia de 1000 km e a bateria tinha que custar 10% do preço do veiculo novo e garantia no minimo de 10 anos. Mas não. Elas custam 50% do preço do veiculo novo e
    Sobre o custo baixo da recarga e preço baixo pra andar, o governo nunca perde as receitas, por enquanto ta muito barato como forma de incentivo para começar o uso, mas com o tempo e disseminação do uso vai ser encarecido a energia eletrica, e ser colocado outras burocracias pra compensar a perda.
    Vou mostra uma competição na estrada, entre o eletrico e o a combustão pra provar a inferioridade do eletrico.
    Sobre a poluição dos veiculos eletricos, eles nao falam que as baterias de litio polui mais que as de chumbo que as de chumbo são totalmente reciláveis e de litio, são muito pouco reciclaveis é Mais lixo. Sem contar que a bateria vai funcionar bem nos primeiros 5 anos se ,tiver sorte. Os veiculos eletricos usam muito mais plasticos e materias compositos, pra ficarem mais leves e disfaçarem a falta de autonomia e potencia dos motores eletricos em a relação ao a combustao.
    Vale lembrar que os vulcões, queimam dia e noite a milhares de anos e expelem uma enorme quantidade de CO2 muito maior que todos os veiculos do mundo funcionando juntos. O Calor do sol e as descargas eletricas por raios, a milhares de anos, também, sempre provocaram incendios nos lugares remotos. Nem por isso a vida na terra foi extinta.
    Poderia desenvolver veiculos com combustivel não poluente como o alcool, Hidrogenio .
    Veiculos eletricos são uma pessima opção. Eu quero ver é uma competição entre os dois sistemas. Isso niguem mostra.
    A verdade é essa. Os veiculos eletricos serão descartaveis poluindo ainda mais o ambiente porque o preço da bateria é a metade do valor do veiculo novo. Todas baterias se tiver muita sorte dura mais de cinco anos muitas duram muito menos que isso(veiculos novos já existem reclamações)) . Isso se o velho depois de 5 anos não tiver nenhum eletricos talvez compensa a compra da bateria nova. O preço da bateria nova será superior ao valor da revenda do usado. Conclusão usado eletrico será sucata. Sem contar que um veiculo a combustão funciona a potencia maxima até a ultima gota de combustivel e o eletrico quando a bateria esta com 50%( metade da carga) , ele cai bastante a potencia. Quando estivermos viajando se tiver a 20% da carga, temos que dispensar passageiros e malas pra economizar energia.

      @@ale6723 Inglês. Em 1945 a Alemanha foi ocupada pelos aliados pois a guerra acabou. Aí começou o periodo de reorganização do pais todo arrasado. E os ingleses iniciaram a
      reconstrucao da fabrica da VW que foi bombardeada e reiniciou a produção do que tinha lá dentro, no caso o KDF. Os primeiros foram usados na reconstrução do país, depois passaram a empresa pros Alemães continuarem.

    A beetle was a good car to tow tow ropes for gliders. We used to do that in Germany in the early 70's. Our biggest thrill was to get it rolling in 4th gear. It was not a great car if you wanted to go further than 10 km, and the rear seats were crap.

      my dad got a beetle from the early 70. he wanted it to buy it from a old man in 1994 but the man whanted to restore it when i got older. in 2004 the old man contacted my dad if he still wants the car because he cant restore it anymore because of age. so my dad got it. we restored it and now it is still in the fam. funny tho is my grandpa serviced the car back in 1980 at the volkwagen dealer in the netherlands. we found out after his death last year ago because we found the service book of the car with the name of my grandpa.

      Lo mejor de todo es que uno mismo le podia meter la mano, podias saltar sobre el capo y la lata no se hundia si te chocabas contra un poste,el poste se echava o contra una rama de arbol esta se rompia y el coche apenas tenia un rayoncito y no como los de ahora latas de sardina mientras mas lujos tienen mas descartables son; es mi humilde opinion.

    Are those shown in the video all 4WD? Like the Kübelwagen? They are definitely a hell of a lot higher springed than the regular "Käfer" (VWs).

    Here you can see a direct copy of the Tatra V570 from the 1930s. The engine and design were copied from Czechoslovakia. If Tatra had refused to copy the V570, one of the most legendary cars today would not have seen the light of day.

      Ethan, you must be kidding - here in Russia many cities were ruined until '50s. To '46 most ruins were not even cleared from mines and bombs. That war was the greatest disaster ever.

      The old factory still exists. Despite having been heavily modernized during time, one can still see iron girders that got peppered by shrapnel and some early post-war fixes. Even the WW2 bomb-shelters are still there.
