You do a great job teaching.. Black Velvet was choreography to Black Velvet by Alana Miles originals song. The very first version with kicks were, were a kick step back, or kick ball change, then Shuffle steps for passing each other.. This was the Origrinal Black Velvet Contra Line Dance from the 1990's.. or everyone just facing forward for teaching. then option to make Contra Lines
Thank you for watching! Yes I love the original song and I learned it originally to that one! But here in Southern California it isn't ever really used to that song anymore out at the honkytonks/clubs/festival dance halls. I try to teach in such a way (and I do mention it normally in my videos) that people can go out dancing here in So. Cal. and recognize the style of the dance and the songs/dances so that they feel comfortable and confident going out there and trying it. A lot of people struggle to learn and get out there, and the purpose of my videos is to help people with that and make it easier on them. Keep on dancing and hope you're getting along alright in these crazy times! :)
I think the dance teaching is great. It's easy to follow and broken down really well. I've been following a few of the videos now. One thing I notice about this one is that you're teaching with your back to the audience for the first part of the dance. It's not hard to hear but I don't think it communicates as directly.
Hi! We always post the name of the songs in the video description. This dance can be done to many songs - it does not have to be a specific one. But for this video we used "Everything I Shouldn't Be Thinking About" by Thompson Square. Happy dancing!!
Juergen Schaefer Thanks for watching! This is purposely done in a more mechanical manner, as it is a lesson intended for beginners who struggle with learning quickly. For this reason, the more we interact with each other or do fancy footwork or move the rest of our bodies (the way we do when we're out dancing), the harder it is for people watching to pick up the dance. I say this from experience from teaching LOTS of people in real life. I don't know your level of learning/dancing but not everyone is blessed with being able to learn easily! I love that you make it your own though, and enjoy to acknowledge your partners when you are out dancing! We do as well! Have fun :)
I love that your back is to us it makes it easy to follow. Thank you. Beautiful dance!

Good instruction and clear speech. But can’t see the mic?
Coral Rodriguez, please dance to the whole song!
Great direction! Does the song matter? If so, who sing this?

😍😍🌹🌹💓😻😻👍👍👏👏👏
Looks a bit mechanical. Would have been better to the original music. The fun bit of this dance is to acknowlege your partner in passing..
