Looks like Rolex improved the bezel colors. The ones that came out later this year have a darker blue and red, so they do not look as purple and pink anymore.

That watch is glorious in the flesh IMO. I can see why they are so popular. My favorite current Rolex.

I wonder if it would be easy for Rolex to make cerachrom satin bezel (is the bezel on Tudor Blue Pelagos cerachrom?). I am not a fan of reflective surfaces on watches, so I don't like starburst dials, either.
Is there a version with an additional day window?

Glad to see you back on the channel. The new version definitely looks like an improvement. But on a personal level, Rolex simply doesn't appeal to me.
Happy New year! In the process of many of these same life changes as well my man, however still like seeing your vid's. Will look out for the next ones when you settle. PS- have been sporting both my watches and on my opposite wrist my "apple wrist- pc" LOL for about a year now and not looking back! I travel a lot and this tech helps me immensely but would not give up my actual watches, period. Good luck with all of your transition and look forward to the next ones.

I like Rolex, but would never pay over retail. There are so many good alternatives you can get right now from any number of high end makers, without succumbing to the ‘scarcity’ ploy. P..S. Hope you’re well, and good to see you back.

Great review. I can understand the appeal of this watch, and I can understand that Rolex makes an excellent product.
I can not understand how someone could pay twice or more retail for a watch that already in the high 4 figures. I think the retail price is a lot, whether it’s worth it is subjective.
The idea of paying so much over is personally disturbing. That is a lot of money and for most people it would take quite a while to make that, let alone save.

I wonder whether the scarcity of certain Rolex models makes potential buyers shift their attention to other brands. I have become a massive fan of the Blancpain FF Bathyscaphe in grey ceramic and blue dial.

Surely there are some who have lost patience and are just fed up with the scarcity and the waiting game. However, there are still more than enough takers so Rolex the brand would not feel it in the short term. They are playing with fire though risking having an "anti-Rolex" generation. Blancpain is a good choice and I hope you get it (if not already). If you can get it pre-owned, you will lessen the loss in value because unfortunately, Blancpain's value retention is not so good nowadays even though almost everyone woukd agree that the quality is up there with the best. Anthony, it’s good to see you back! I agree with you all the way in the newer GMT Master. I also think that it’s not worth the premium that speculators have caused in the price. But I understand it. It’s a luxury good. I totally understand about life dealing you a wild hand. I also just changed careers. I think the new term of art is second act. I'm a huge Rolex fan. A watch is the only jewelry I'd consider wearing. I'm not a jewelry guy and don't wear the watch for anyone but my own enjoyment. I have three....a few year old "Batman," a newer black Submariner and the "Pepsi" you're reviewing. I like others but three is beyond plenty for me. I just got this watch a few weeks ago and it's great. I'm lucky because I was able to get a just slightly used, with box and papers without sales tax, for 17.5k. For this price range, that's not saving a ton but every save helps. I love the watch! The new bracelet is fits like a glove and better than my two others. I'm probably never going higher in price because this is about the max. I'll spend on a watch. Unlike my other favorites, like IWC and Panerai, I doubt anyone will be losing much value on this watch. The contact I bought it from was describing the held-value of Rolex. He said he bought a 13k slightly used Panerai from a retail, who needed cash, for $2,500. I can't see a Rolex fan being anything but pleased with this watch. Thanks for your review.
In a few years, should Rolex be able to perfect the blue and red color of the bezel, I wonder if the value of thin one will tank? Sure Rolex prices are crazy high now, but what goes up must come down

I’ve watched every UA-cam video on the 126710BLRO and this is definitely one of the best. The GMT master II is my favorite watch of all time and I’m hoping to pick one up sometime next year. Great video and review. Like the comparison to the 16710. Nice to see a side by side. Keep it up man.

I would assume the movement will come eventually, the colors look good in person.

A nipple-dial, rootbeer 16713 is definitely on my list. For me, the ceramic is a little cold with its unchanging nature relative to the rest of the watch.

It's a great piece but those paying double retail have rocks in their heads..if you can get one at MSRP don't hesitate but I would rather buy preowned vintage and have a pocket full of cash...Nice to have you back you are looking tired stay well and all the very best with pastures new..

Totally agree. I love my 116710LN. Surprisingly hard to find even the plain black now. But it is more subdued and goes with more. Would never pay ~18k for a steel watch.

You don’t really answer the question whether it’s worth the insane premium or not. Simply saying that if you have to have it well then you’ve got to pay up is quite unsatisfying.

I do like the smaller numbers and markers o the dial of the older GMT. the new wand does look a bit too full and crouded.

I live out here on the edge of China (Hong Kong). When the new Pepsi came out, it wasn’t available in Rolex stores - they’d wouldn’t let me order it reserve - but the unauthorised dealers had them charging exorbitant amounts over retail and they seemed to sell them at a decent pace.
However, the Chinese economy is struggling and the effect is that those unauthorised dealers aren’t selling their Pepsies - the price is heading back towards retail.
Just keep an eye on China - the longer the trade war and depressed economy the more chance you’ll see these at retail.

I still can't get past the pink and purple "pepsi" dial
It looks normal in person.
They've actually made slight improvements to the colour of the bezel, with the earlier models having more of a pink and purple hue to it as opposed to the favoured "Pepsi". Maybe the MK1 will be more collectable in the future?
Indeed it does, you have to see in person and in natural light to appreciate.
The watch looks great IRL. Doesn’t look pink and purple at all to me. The red is somewhat “burnt red” which looks a tiny bit subdued - which to me is a good thing.
It's only comes across like that on camera. In person the colours are blue and red and the tone of blue and red changes depending on the lighting

I like mine but To be totally honest with you I most the time where a G-Shock carbon fiber because I do concrete so it’s more less just for looks but it feels nice the whites good the bracelets smooth as of all Rolexes and so far I haven’t had to get it serviced nor would I trust someone to service I did actually get a steal of a deal though I got mine for a little under 10,000

The amount people are paying for the Pepsi is actually well below its market potential. If Rolex was not a charitable organization and was not bound by the restrictions associated with being a charity. ROLEX would put the watch on the market at $50,000 as a special edition and people would pay it. That's the reality of the situation. Be happy you're paying what you are.
Derek Shearer and many people would just buy other brands...Rolex professional models are fantastic watches, but they really are pushing the limit of value vs other brands at MSRP, let alone at super inflated hype driven grey market prices.
@@RacerJuan42. That's just the thing, they aren't buying other brands. ROLEX authorized dealers are empty. The second hand grey market price is the actual price. How can something be overpriced if people are paying it.
Derek Shearer I agree that the market price right now is not the MSRP, and there are enough people with deep pockets who are willing to pay a significant premium over MSRP just to get what they want. However, if we’re talking about the theoretical scenario of taking a watch priced at about $10k currently and raising the MSRP to $50k....that would open the doors to a lot of other choices which are far superior to a Rolex GMTIIc BLRO...and many people would take their money elsewhere.

I would love to have this watch but no way paying a premium. I was looking at Aquanauts thinking they are close to thirty K. I find out retail is twenty K. Assholes jacking their prices fifty percent no way.

The BLNR and BLRO are excellent. Of course, if you can't get either at an AD you are going to get taken for a ride. The one thing I DO hate about the watch is the clasp. It's ridiculously large.

Not impressed. I’m not a fan of the current GMT / Submariner lineup. IMO they are too heavy and I really dislike the font on the bezel. The pre-ceramic models are cosmetically more appealing (to me at least!)

Simple answer no, it's a GMT with a colored bezel. The retail for 9k+. Why pay a huge premium. What to show off. Unless you shove it in people's faces no one will know or frankly care. Watch nerds like me will but that's about all.
