Truck sounds really good. The 3.0 is a great engine
Sweet ride . I gotta 01 xlt w/ the vulcan powerplant. Great 60 degree engine. Gibson headers/jba catback/ ported water pump housing/ KN intake
Cool truck!
I've got a 2000 3.slow! Really inspirational!
Paul Kaiser Thanks Dude 🤠
I literally have the same truck, same year body style and color just with the 2.3,but man what potential my truck has after seeing this
That’s HOW I WANT TO BUILD MY TRUCK BRODY..that IS A BEAST!!
Hi, the cluster work is great can you give a more detailed of how to do it, if you please. Thanks
Do you have a link for the steering wheel adapter?
I can't find these JBA long tube headers? And what cold Air intake did you run? Man that's nice. I'm trying to build a budget Desert runner.
How many horse power did you gain with all the mods ? I have a 2003 Ford ranger 3.0 two wheel drive automatic overdrive. That truck sounded pretty good, good job. I'm trying to get better gas mileage, more power, I'm trying to make a highway truck.
50hp max. Most gains are from headers, custom rocker arms and porting
Hey, little bit of a stupid question but how did you go about finding the right steering hub kit for that NRG steering wheel? Having some trouble finding the right information online.
Conner Graham have you found one yet?
@@peterg4918 sadly no
Make one. That's what I did
You can use a nrg hub from a s197 mustang for the 90’s rangers. I have a 97 with a complete NRG setup using the hub that was made for a mustang.
I like it I got a 03' Ranger 2 wheel drive man I'm freaked I need header's like braking them stock ones loose what's the pain of braking loose
Could you please send me the source to get those headers? Currently have jba performance shorties.
Summit racing or jegs. Start there. Or call headmans headers.
Thinking about putting headers on my ‘99. Hard to find.
Dude thats pretty sweet ,Im having all kinds of trouble with my 94 ranger splash 3.0 Vulcan I have a dead Misfire low compression on three cylinders and the motor only has 56k original miles on it .. Great job bro..Just subscribed
They're must be something seriously wrong. My 94 3.0 has 130,000 original miles and i rev it to 5800rpm 24/7
@@TheVulcan Have you swapped out valve-train components?
I got the same truck except 94c and 4.0 gonna possibly make it into a drift truck
I know your video here is a few years old, but I have a few questions if your still around. I've got a bone stock 2001 Ranger Edge with the 3.0 and I need to do something to get a bit more power, as it's just so gutless here in the 90+ degree heat and 5,000 feet elevation here where I live in the deserts of New Mexico! I'm thinking the first few things should be an electric fan (I'm taking one off a 93 Taurus 3.8 I think should work) and then probably bigger throttle body and upper intake manifold. What would you suggest?
Can you help me out with some of the steering wheel and hub stuff, i need more information most people wont give, i have a quick release and aftermarket steering wheel but my spline is huge and i dont have a hub piece that covers my column so it doesnt look flush
All i did was buy a momo steering hub off amazon.... and an NRG steering wheel. If you have a single cab i wouldnt recomend a steeting hub and a quick release because the steering wheel will be all up in yo chesticles
Quick release on a Ford ranger 🤔🧐 Interesting. Would u recommend this or a GTI. Feel like a gti is faster, more reliable, bigger has a better towing capacity and much more 🤔? Jkjk
Mike Vincent Jr you sir are what I like to call booty stank. GTI is definitely faster, reliable.....well my ranger is 1994 and has the original clutch annnnnd doesn’t throw codes with a cat delete. And parts are cheaperrrrr sooooooo. I mean if you wanna race I got a tuned mustang that’s a lot faster than your gti 😂😂😂😂
But rumor has it that it's a v6 Stang. So I feel.like this stage 2 GTI could take it 😂😎👌 just saying
The Vulcan
I have a 1993 3.0 Ranger, mi cluster and instruments has start to die one by one, i have to replace it.
So i want to swap for a xplorer cluster just like yours, whit a tachometer ( i dont have all ready)
How dificult is to do that??
I appreciate it
Im greeting you from Monterrey Mexico
Yo quick question, I’m about to cop new tires. I was sitting on 31 x 10.50 on 15” rim but I want smaller tires for easier acceleration. Thinking about bfg radial T/A but 275/60/15. That’s 27 x 11. I have a 6” lift too just for context. What you think Vulc?
28” not 27” ****
Well youd have better acceleration but id just be going back close to stock so you technically wouldnt be gaining much.
Ok I’ll think about it then. I just been doing a few engine mods lately and it’s been getting some more pep so I figured the big tires were holding it back from further potential 🤣
What adapter did you use for your steering wheel?
Robin Simmons it was a momo steering adapter of the interwebs
I was told u cant put any different intake on these because you'll never get the maf to act properly.
Chris Super Bikes&Stuff I’m running the same stock MAF no issues and my lower and upper intake manifold is ported.
Running a stock MAF & huge cone filter on a spectre universal polished aluminum intake tube from autozone, no issues at all. Intake isn't the best, but it's a lot better then stock
What steering wheel hub are you running ?
Yo Vulcan what intake did you use? I cant seem.to find anything that'll work for my 3.0
I made it custom, 3inch pipe off ebay
What size wheels and what are they off of? Also how wide of spacer did you have to run
shawn tims 17x9 front 18x10 rear +20 offset, black mustang Saleen rims. 1.5inch hub centric spacer all the way around
I'm trying to get that front bumper ...
Hey Vulcan where did you get your JBA headers? All I can find is for the 4.0L and I have the 3.0
TheRejectKid 402 off eBay. I believe I bought 1 of the last 2 left. If you can’t find any the best way to go is to got to TomMoranaV6racing and buy header adapter brackets so you can install 3.8L V6 Mustang stock shorty headers.
The Vulcan thank you for the info. Definitely helps, I couldn’t find one on eBay for 3.0 so I’ll visit the TomMorana site and go to to junk yard for the 3.8 or maybe steal them off my buddies 3.8 stang
What after market steering wheel do you have i own a 2000 ford ranger im trying to get one and install one
I got one and a quick release but i cannot find a hub that covers my column, so the spline shows and so does the wiring
Donde conseguiste los faros me podrías decir porfavor??
I have a 96 3.0 ranger xlt supercab what performance mod do you recommend i do first?
Depends what do you do with the truck, first should be, manifold swap, headers, electric fan swap will net you the most
@@TheVulcan its my daily but i want to make it fast and reliable
Nothing quick about a 3.0?
I have a 94 Splash 4.0L. I need help.
What’s the intake brand ?
Part number on them jba headers or for what year only seeing 98 and up available for 3.0 rangers
Ken Coup they’re 92-96 I think don’t know the part number and they’re difficult to find
@@TheVulcan would need a guide on this build. Mines 96 xlt xtra cab 3.0 . No power
Ken Coup delete clutch fan and swap an electric fan, get a 2005+ Taurus intake manifold, Tune, go to Tom Morana v6 racing and buy the header adapters and then you can use 3.8L mustang headers if you can’t find ranger ones. 1.7.1 or 1.8.1 roller rocker arms from Tom Morana. and 3.73 gears
That's what my truck would sound like if I did some of those mods (my ranger is a 99 & its a 3.0)
Jeremy Hill yup, gutted cats, intake, ported upper and lower intake manifold, headders, 65mm throttle body, and a Flowmaster 40. Also added timing but sines you don’t have a distributor you’d have to get a 93 tune instead of just adjusting your timing on the fly.
The Vulcan I wanna convert to a dual exhaust system though
also maybe sometime soon I wanna install twin low boost turbos & other mods that'll increase HP (bigger intake manifold, throttle body, etc)
doesn't the 3.0 come fuel injected or nah?
The Vulcan but I do wanna keep 2 cats & 2 mufflers on it (cause flex fuel)
maybe a 2 step if possible
Jeremy Hill yeah the Vulcan block can do no more then 7lbs of boost, but you’ll have to have a turbo manifold made of course which is a lot of $$$ yes the 3.0 is port fuel injected and has never had a carborator. Tho they do have carby swaps
The Vulcan hmm
I was thinking at least 5psi & to have upgraded fuel injectors
It doesnt hook because you took off about 100lbs from the rear, you know, where the drive tires are?... you should drop a 5.0 in the ranger, and get rid of the mustang before you take out a crowd.
Ben Covelli well I hook now I just have better tires. No everyone and there mother does a 5.0 Swap I plan on auto crossing this truck, it’s not a daily or a drag truck so an extra 100-150lbs on the front will make that more difficult. No.....crowds are delicious
Fuck being original right
The only reason people run into crowds are they dont know how to drive.
What brand steering wheel is that?
NRG steering wheel, Momo steering hub.
What steering wheel hub are you running
LJ Moreira momo steering hub online
What kind of intake you got??? Brand??
Seneca Talker it’s not brand specific, I just bought pipe With a 45 degree bend off eBay, the pipe is 3inch diameter. Slight top end gains and throttle response that’s it. Intake never really give you more than a 10hp bump in most applications. Supporting mods will help you see more gains tho.
Mr. Oval how about the intake manifold?? The composite one.... much gains from that.... I have a 1994 Ford Ranger with a 3.0. 4x4. Trying to get more low and mid Range torque.
Seneca Talker composite manifold is the way to go because the unequal length intake manifold for the 93-97 3.0 are ass butter..... the composite manifold is worth it and makes a very noticeable improvement. The old 93-97 3.0s made 145hp and 160tq. The 2001+ 155hp and 185tq and the only differences between the engines are intake manifolds. The composite swap is a must for all pre 98 rangers
Mr. Oval so the composite intake is off 2001 3.0?? How was the swap?? Any major modifications?? I interested in the conversion........
Seneca Talker no the intake manifold is off the 2006 Ford Taurus. In order to do the swap you need the manifold, 60mmt hrottlebody it comes with, throttle cable and brackets, and a tps sensor from a 1994 4.0 ranger or explorer. The manifold comes with a butterfly valve that switches the intake runner length but doesn’t work on our vehicles. If you want low end leave it be but you’ll have sucky high rpm performance, if you want more high end performance remove the valve cut the butterfly valve off the assembly the reinstall it. Manifold, throttle body, throttle cable, and 94 4.0 TPS sensor, will cost you 120$ at the junk yard.
Where can I get it
What wheels are you running?
17x9 front 18x10 rear mustang saleen rims. Front 245/40/r17 - Rear 255/35/18. Federal 595 RS-RRs
You know what sucks? The fact that you cant use those headers on a Vulcan in a Taurus
Nova I know. Tried this exact set up on my 2003 Taurus, but couldn’t find any headers for the car. Headers really wake up this motor.
What’s the manifold off of
Laszlo Doiron 2005 Ford taurus
Thank you
What size rims And tires
Look like 17's.
He did say 235s though.
So my guess is somewhere around 235/70/r17
With the amount of money spent a 4.0/5.0 could of been had but hey to each their own
Ken B it’s a auto cross build I’m trying to keep the front end light. The most expensive thing I purchased was 300$ headers, intake, I made myself, ported lower and upper Manifolds, i done myself. Upper manifold and 60mm throttle body together was 60$ bucks. People think I put a tone of money into it I really didn’t. less than 800 on all the performance mods.
I’m running 255s and mine don’t spin at all
What's the full actual tire size. And are they all terrains or summer tires
Are you stock?
The Vulcan no I’m running 19 inch G racing wheels and front are 235-35-19 and the back are 255-35-19
What engine?
The Vulcan 3.0 V6
Buy floor mats my g
Clayton Vandevender I have floor mats in one of my newer vids
Stock 2.3 faster then 3.0
I've beaten, 2.3, 4.0 ohv, 4.0 sohc, 5.7 hemi rams, hardbodys with the ka24, tundras and tacomas, and 5.3 silverados. only truck ive lost to is the brand new 10 speed 5.0 F-150s and 3.5 twin turbo F-150s
Vulcan, I have a '94 ranger 3.0L Vulcan & am planning on doing Tom Morana stage 3 heads & cam and am wondering how you accomplished the tuning? since only thing available for these trucks are those crappy jet chips. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Josh Garwood haven’t really done anything except add a little more timing started using 93, made a good difference. You’ll need to get an msd distributor and the module which I haven’t gotten yet. I’ll get back to you in exactly which ones so you can order it
@@TheVulcan thank you, much appreciated. I've contacted voodoo racing innovations here in Las Vegas about tuning it & have asked for a 2nd quote from them but first quote they gave me for building an entirely new ecu setup was $6k
Josh Garwood honestly if your gonna do that you might as well just boost it 😂. But caution the injectors max out at 192 wheel horsepower
@@TheVulcan I was planning on doing the m90 blower intake and used m90 off Ebay @ 6psi of boost down the road after cam & heads. Lol
@@TheVulcan or I just might do the morana 4 barrel carb conversion & use a blow through e85 carb & boost it with a turbo. What's the turbo setup on your truck?
Vulcan, can you give me the information I need to do a steering wheel swap like yours? I'm reeely not crazy about the factory unit. lol =)
Anthony Wayne I got a mono steering hub. Pretty sure most universal hubs will work just make sure the wheel matches the hub
@@TheVulcan Thank you for the info and quick response. Love your ride!
