    Unforgettable moment is the conversation between Vijay Sethupathi and Singam puli. Director found a gem in the form of Singam puli. சிங்கம் புலி என்ன நடிப்புடா சாமி. Hats off to him. Surely deserves lot of awards for supporting actor.

      Watch Iratta brother (malayalam movie) because of that movie maharaja was predictable for me, these movies were inspired from Old boy, but maharaja is a great film 🔥 the issue is not with Tamil but the industry as a whole, the audience etc

    Hi Sudhir, don’t know if you will come across this comment and read.
    But you are one of the very few reviewers whom I always resonate with. I agree and enjoy your take almost always. Plus we share a huge common admiration for Ilayaraja. A kind request to keep posting your reviews regularly if possible. In the recent past there was a void, I hope nothing serious from your end. But I genuinely missed your take on things. Love to you, keep rocking!

      Hi Babu, thank you so much. I’ve been quite well; just occupied with some commentary duties as well, plus I think it also coincided with a pretty quiet phase in our cinema too. But I hear you. And thank you for such a sweet message.

    Nothing is too much in this movie. Even in the particular scene, director never shown anything explicit but still audiences feel the impact. That was the masterstroke from him. In real life, we read lot of news how girls are getting harassed and beaten to death or burnt alive. So in real life things are more violent than that scene. So nothing wrong the director took some time for that scene and make audiences to feel the impact.

    sir ennoda view: "A snake, representing Singampuli, came to bite Vijay Sethupathi but did not actually bite him. The snake came through the bathroom and left without biting him. Vijay Sethupathi then went to the police station and brought in the snake from outside. Singampuli, who was acting as a police informer, is the real culprit (Snake - who came to kill VJS and did something wrong). Vijay Sethupathi, with the help of the police, plans to expose him. I predicted this scene myself."

    Hope this movie have appropriate violence they did not get much into detailing of that particular scenes, the team handled the scene really well. Even in a 2 minutes shampoo advertisement the audience used to get the best conclusion, how you expect that lead character to act minimalist against the person who did worse for his daughter in that particular scene? I cant accept your point .

    After seeing many comments and reviewers calling it masterpiece, comeback for Tamil cinema, I find it problematic at many places especially the so called twists and climax.
    I agree with ur review about the disturbing scenes length, u don't have to show such nuances like taking turns, repeating while waiting, justifying the act with vague dialogues to give the audience a hard hitting emotion. Like it's disturbing to watch it in a larger screen, cannot imagine seeing with family. Remember that u r catering these to all kinds of audience on a sensitive topic.. Also, I am now almost convinced that a robbery scene will be followed by sexual abuse in any movie..wat kinda template is this to give a emotional factor for the movie to have a revenge or strong heroic factor..
    2. What is it with anurag the moment he finds out that it was his own daughter ? Avlo nerama cruel ah una apovae kondrukanum nu sona aalu, odanae change aaytara.. doesn't all victims are someone else's daughter/wife/mom... Anga matum than avaruku valichitha, guilt aanara... Does that twist changed anything for the victim? Nothing... He chooses to die out of guilt again nothing but a theatre moment.. athuku apram nadantha ellamae oru theatre high kaga wanted ah kaatna mari irunthuchu.
    Also speaking of which, he is not shown as sexual abuser but who encouraged from the start, somehow justifying the character's nature for this twist sake.. other than anurag, all other friends are abusers.
    3. Victim speaking strongly with abuser lam felt so artificial for the next twist to open up. He was nowhere felt guilty for his act until the final reveal.
    Lastly thann vinai thannai sudum nu movie ah justify panravangaluku kekuren, wat vinai did vjs do to endure his family's demise and this girl's abuse. All he did was to help others going out of his way. I know many won't agree with these but ya everyone's perspective changes.

    Before moving into tell about this movie
    This movie had some theatre moments instead of telling it as “Wow” moments , Because if we are going to watch the same movie in laptop or TV , this won’t be the exact moment .
    For me ,Movie worked in many places .He wrote the screenplay very well and “Whodunnit” genre kinda worked in most of the movies .
    Violence are just becoming a part and parcel of our cinemas ……
    But real problem started when the picture unfolds the knots of the movie.”Rape” old cliche template where really this movie went to the normal’ commercial cinema.
    Writer should just thought had some second thoughts of doing this story’ in a different way by not showing the rape track from movie and could have done something metaphorical instead of making show girls pain, 50+ aged man doing this rubbish Activity etc .. could have been avoided literally.
    Why only these templates are still followed in Cinemas?
    Are they trying to show same father daughter relationship in a way like still women’s are having same problem…..
    just think in a different way - what if the same incident is happening to a boy or men ?
    Enough of following up the old template.
    “Maharaja - Good attempt in non linear writing but didn’t shined in plot”

  • @balajisowrirajan7378
    @balajisowrirajan7378 10 днів тому +2

    Logic holes are galore and these are (spoilers are there if you wish not to read)..
    Police team are not that immature...why directors treat them as lesser working?
    1.Raped victim...no doctor will opt to not report plus police esp women officers will work very swiftly to identify culprits.
    2. Father will be with daughter for a swift recovery and won't roam around using his so called "technique"
    3. When accidents happened and survivor was ( house accident scene) there ,police will do a categorical check. There are relatives too. No man will want to bring up somebody else's as that is wrong plus there are authorities.
    4. Such dotting father (antagonist)will not be part of heinous crimes despite explanations given by director(daughter's love)
    5. Singam puli may have smelt the coming-up-scenario quiet long back as he's associated with core team...he may have gone AWOL.
    6. NO way IR name can be mixed with MAHARAJA..Impossible. so, there is that THRUST working there.
    7. PT teacher character and that police station comic character prolongs the time..unwanted ones.
    8. How police catching the antagonists was not explained..director putting that on VJS' character inorganic.
    9. Toll bill/ finding manikandan...impossible to beat such aggressive people by Vjs. Heroism extolled...college scene a precursor..no needed one. Same case of that police station ceiling breaking scene by vjs. Prolonging screenplay.
    10. 13 years has been a long duration for no.1 criminal like Anurag. He would have made VJS pay the price from jail itself..he got money and clout.
    11. If finishing VJS was Anurag's idea, he wouldn't postpone it when waiting half -an -hour more was easier..another unwanted prolonging.
    12. If Natty found the culprits thru his team already, his focus would not have been on taking vjs money but over apprehending anurag then and there. Another heroism induced scene.
    13. Final scene...tear-jerker really? Unrelated to Irata or old boy...it is an induced working by the director simply..shock value ,I don't think so.
    14. Abhirami's sudden feeling of situation when Anurag arrested was artifical...she would have swooned down. Only 13 years jail for such horrendous murders??
    15. Singam puli's elimination...police will never go for such proposals in real time. Police work is not that mundane.
    16. VJS sitting almost 24x7 at police station...doing own investigating? Impossible. B.RAJA's character to take care of the shop...he was pointing VJS as waste and his character is actually an unwanted one.
    17. Non linear format...inorganic too.
    Anyway, logical loopholes are way too many and film should have been trimmed a lot more.
    ..
    Very engaging work indeed...whilst watching you would enjoy the sweet but after taste will make you forget it.
    Kudos to the casting..everyone performed well.
    Singam puli was too good.
    Kudos to the editor as he did an exceptional work .
    Logical and organic development of story are too crucial as they would stand the test of time.

      1. Valid Point
      2. Not quite necessary, and no father will be patient enough to wait there after someone did that to his daughter
      3. It's in the past. Also, during Anurag's arrest scene, the wife character says she left her family for him, so absolutely no one is bothered about her.
      4. Hint: The chain buying scene. There's a dialogue that explains his motive.
      5. He's a police informant and might have committed more crimes before or after that incident. And generally, these types of criminals don't abscond easily.
      6. He was drunk and went himself into a bad condition after that fight. Also both the names have Raja behind.
      7. It might be true but it didn't affect the pacing much imo
      8. It's shown! But it was sudden and quick.
      9. Valid Point. Nowhere in the movie explained his massive strength. Maybe vengeance?
      10. What if he took bail? Or something else?
      11. Hint: Climax dialogue. He says it's enough for me to see you suffering about your daughter. That's much more painful than your death.
      12. He was not shown getting the remaining payment. The police found out the info the day before they went to Maharaja's house to give him his "Lakshmi"
      13. Tear-jacker? Maybe. Impactful? YES...
      14. Maybe...not everyone swoons...
      15. -
      16. Hint: Pre-interval sequence
      17. I don't agree.
      Except for the 1st and 9th, the rest are mentioned or taken in a wrong way.
      Just my opinion...

    • @sarvan159
      @sarvan159 10 днів тому +5

      Point 1 is also not valid. VJS is shown to be grateful to be the doctor character played by Mohan Ram (even going to his house for shaving), so the latter might not have reported to the police probably due to VJS request.

    • @sarvan159
      @sarvan159 10 днів тому +1

      As far point 6, they are boozing in a bar, so the politician can surely mixup Maharaja and Ilaiyaraja

    • @sarvan159
      @sarvan159 10 днів тому +1

      Point 15: It is not real-time, they have done investigation for few days and found tat the informer is the culprit. Instead of allowing the legal course, they are adopting a sort of encounter killing. Only difference is that they allow VJS to do the honours

    • @sarvan159
      @sarvan159 10 днів тому +3

      However, my only logical doubt or loophole is...after arresting Anurag Basu at his home, the police would have explained in the court regarding how they found out that Basu and his accomplice are the perpetrators. They also wud not have presented VJS as witness. Consequently, Basu witnessing the trial wud have understood that VJS did not cause his arrest. So, the whole plot could collapse there itself. I satisfied myself that Basu might have thought that Police have protected VJS under the witness protection program or something.
