Now that's band I never expected to see here! "Cardboard City" by Skyclad is one of my favorite songs, hell, "Prince of the Poverty line" as a whole, is one of the best Folk Metal records of all-time, a genre that they were pioneers of. But yeah, they're not a famous band at all, even my "metal friends" barely know Skyclad (if they do at all, it's because of me lol), so seeing them here and ending the year of 2019 is great. Happy new year everyone.
I'm glad that Skyclad gets some attention! I'm a fan for live since '93-'94. So many great songs! Especially the lyrics are great. A lot of double layers, and all about the environment, social poverty etc. Jonah's ark, Prince of the poverty and the silent whales of lunar sea are their best albums in my opinion. But the rest is great too :)
Hell yeah love Skyclad Great Blow for a Day job If I Die Laughing It'll Be An Act Of God Constance Eternal Postcard From Planet Earth Come On Eileen (cover) Penny Dreadful Inequality Street The Wrong Song
Skyclad is widely regarded as the first folk metal band. Hugely, hugely important band. I was trying to get this pushed through for our essentials in the XU (not this song, though. I had picked R'Vannith)
If you're a metal fan you owe it to yourself to listen to Skyclad's Jonah's Ark album from top to bottom at least once in your life... Although, with such an amazing band, you might as well go through the discography... The best metal band not many people know... very sad...
ALL Skyclad albums I can recommend, even the current albums without Martin Walkyer! Martin Walkyer writes so great lyrics, which all have a social issue!
"They fight a lot in pubs in Ireland " Really Vin? Jeeze thats one sweeping statement from someone who has never been to Ireland. Skyclad are from the UK.
1999 I was downtown Fort Worth, Texas at the symphony. My parents were scared all the lights would go out at midnight and all kinds of stuff would happen.
Their early stuff is best, especially anything from Prince of the Poverty Line. It's great to see your response to them though. (But as others have said, they're English).
First time i have checked in for a month to see what you guys are up to, used to check in every other day but your content started to become very poor. Obscure groups that have no interest to the main stream rock metal fan and only appeal to the minority death, black metal music scene. Talk about shooting yourselves in the foot, if you want to grow this channel into a living then you really need to look at the content you are putting out. This channel could be so much more than it is but your tunnel vision is really holding it back and stopping it from becoming a great success. I totally understand it's Vin that is holding it back because he is the dominant force behind the channel and Sori goes along with what he wants to keep him happy but guys you could have double the subscribers you do have at this moment if you explore all types of rock music and not just cater for the obscure. I am a rock, metal head who has been following rock and metal music for over 35 years and I have just looked at everything you have put out over the last month and there is only one video i would care to watch. If you hope to make a living out of your reactions on youtube then you had better buck up your idea's or Vin is going to have to send Sori out to look for a day job because the path you are on is not going to pay the bills and give you the lifestyle you hope. I wish you well for 20/20 but if you don't make drastic changes to the music you react to then don't expect 20/20's growth in your channel to be that spectacular. Happy new year from someone who believe it or not would like to see this channel become a success. xx
Most of the past month has been excerpts from the rockathon and not new material. It has not been their standard. People paid money for those reactions. Who has tunnel vision? There have been people complaining about mainstream music as well at times, you don't think those people deserve even to have those bands exposed. And if you are going to say something like this, have a solution to provide to make Everyone happy.
When the Metal and Rock catalogue dates back to the early 70's they have a lot of Rock and Metal genre's to choose from yet they choose groups and song that most fans are not interested in. As they are trying to do this as a living, appealing to such a small portion of music fans is very bad management. Mixing it up would help increase their subscribers and it's the subscribers who bring in the money. It's not rocket science.
@HQVideoDude Right now they are trying to clear out the backlog of Patreon requests because they care about the community, they can't just not do those reactions. So again, regardless of what he is saying he is not offering a solution either. Heck, my favorite genre is power metal or progressive power metal and it basically gets no love here unless someone pays $75 dollars for it. So i'm here for the obscure, but I try to expand my musical horizons as well because i'm a music lover. I do not want to be stuck in the past or within that circle. I am trying to find appeciation for other genres and just be exposed to new music in general. I am never going to call someone's else's musical choices terrible, because we all have different tastes. There is not "terrible or mediocre" music, there are only opinions.

Not to nitpick, but Skyclad is influenced by English/Nordic folk music and paganism, not Irish.
Skyclad is widely regarded as the first folk metal band. Hugely, hugely important band. I was trying to get this pushed through for our essentials in the XU (not this song, though. I had picked R'Vannith)
Sure you'd love "Inequality Street" by Skyclad. Happy New Year guys.

💯 agree 👍
Wine and Whine. Genious connection! Classic Skyclad wordsmith :)
Skyclad is my favorite band. Best lyrics of any band. I would recommend Building a Ruin and Troublesome Times.
I love Skyclad. You should try Inequality Street, Penny Dreadful, or Thinking Allowed?
I'm glad you are both alive, Vin and Sori ❤️
ALL Skyclad albums I can recommend, even the current albums without Martin Walkyer! Martin Walkyer writes so great lyrics, which all have a social issue!

Moonspell - Night Eternal
Moonspell - Full Moon Madness

The guy behind skyclad and also Sabbat is Martin Walkyier. He is Dani's favourite metal writer and friend.
Excellent band. Something from the Jonah's Ark LP or Martin's old band Sabbat (UK) would be great.
Well I thoroughly enjoy learning more about you guys in your day to day lives.
Check out Martin’s other excellent band - The Clan Destined I think you would enjoy the lyrics and the music.
Welcome to the punniest lyricist in metal.
Happy new year!
Celtic Frost - Synagoga Satanae
Celtic Frost - Ain Elohim
Algumas pessoas aqui do Brasil acompanham vocês, são feras em top 👌🇧🇷
Epica - Kingdom of heaven
Happy new year 2020! 🎇💖🎆
This one is great, but Folkemon would be awesome.
In Germany it's 2020!
angra - carolina iv
Septic Flesh - Virtues of the Beast. Please!
I think Sori would dig early Avantasia. I'm talking about the song "Farewell" in particular.
"A lot of fighting in Irish pubs?" Source?? A lot of assumptions here, particularly as they are a BRITISH folk metal band
I 100% agree that the safe space bull has got to stop.
Last Days Of Humanity - 48th Cut
Gutalax - Asshole Ghost Wish-Master
Dead Cross - My Perfect Prisoner
Have fun
You guys should do Fucked with an Anchor by Alestorm.
Check out 'Shepards Reign - Le Manu' and see what you think of Samoan metal.

Very few can write lyrics like Martin Walkyier. Back in the day, Skcyclad ruled. Awful now without Martin.
