I love this piece of music!!!!! It's based on a Russian folktale. And even if I am a proud 68 years old, it's my favorite bedtime story!!!!!!!!! Thanks Aunt Margaret and Uncle Haskell for giving me the best gift!!!!!!!! Love you!!!!!!!
Thank you for this! Sure to be the version I listened to playing all the time, ages 4-8. What a way to learn to love classical music. Grateful to my parents, just as mine are thankful to me for all the singing together we did. What would life BE without music? Adored this. Still gives a thrill...thank you again.
This is a wonderful memory! My mom had this when she was a little girl, and I listened to it over and over a few decades later. I still never get tired of the music, the story or Basil Rathbone's beautiful narration! Thank you so much for this!
I remember when this recording was in my family's possession. The album cover was doodled all over. I hope to find it again someday. It is worth more to me than the $50 plus shipping on eBay.
As a kid I loved Basil Rathbone without even knowing who he was, because I had this record. On the other side of the record Rathbone narrated Treasure Island. When I eventually saw the Disney version of Peter and the Wolf I wasn't all that impressed: Rathbone had defined the story for me.
Why do I give it a dislike? Because you, Horrid Hermia, cut off the final note of a magnificent work & interjected your insignificant voice urging us to think about you rather than enjoying the afterglow of beauty. Dislike? Disgust!

Glad to have brought back a joy filled childhood memory. Thank you.

Thank you so much!
I own this set of records (used to be my dad's). It's played at 78 rpm. I listened to it every Sunday growing up.
