I just stumbled on the video, glad i watched it, i have been wanting to make my own slingshot one day, so this was very helpful! Thanks for sharing your technique's!
Kids really need to learn some type of survival. Something in school because I was talking to 15-year-old kid the other day and I mention that I was going to go squirrel hunting in the morning and he recoiled back in disgust that I would eat that, lol. It's like dude. Have you been to a farm 😂 That squirrel has not been affected by steroids or antibiotics or any chemicals I promise 😂
New Subscriber here love the videos. Was wondering if you have a pdf for your slingshot template or did you modify it off of an existing one? Thanks keep the videos coming. Really enjoy the catch and cooks! Cheers!
I start with a sketch. Sometimes I trace something and I modify as I go until I find something I am making consistently then it gets traced on cardboard.
How do you cut the band attachment grooves? Looks like a small round rasp would work well for it. Also, do you round the top where the bands contact the body to soften the edge and reduce wear? There are several honey locust and black walnut trees on property we own plus osage , mulberry and persimmon. The grain and color is gorgeous in all those and should make some awesome slingshot bodies. I'll be looking for limb sections that have dropped out of them to see what I can find.
I use a small round rasp and if needed I follow up with a chainsaw file. The edges of the tips get rounded enough in the sanding process and I don't do anything special with them. Sounds like you have a gold mine of wood. Those are some of my favorites to work with!
@@sturmslingshotsandshenanigans Mimosa wood is another one that has some fantastic colors. Most people don't know that because for the most part the don't grow all that large or tall and have a lot of branches close to each other. Because of those characteristics, as far as I know, they are not made into lumber on a commercial scale.
I have a question tho, after you apply the superglue you have to polish it, right? how you do that? cause I applied my superglue on my slingshot and it doesn't look like polished but maybe I have to polish it with something, but I don't know how to do it 😶
I don't like shooting TTF, it's less accurate at distance. Band wear is the same in over the forks as it is on through the forks. Properly made bands break at the pouch regardless of the style of shooting.
Wrapping bands "around" post not through hand stretched for tying; 2 persons. In recollecting bands would last at least a year with lots of weekend shooting. Big rubber bands were like 1/16" thick x 5/8,3/4" wide. that's 70 years ago!!. @@sturmslingshotsandshenanigans
Dude that is freaking bad ass. Just getting into slingshots. Any one that you would recommend for a Newb? Keep the content coming man. Positive vibes my friend
You can't go wrong with a forked stick. Get some pre made band sets from simple-shot.com and go cut some forks of various widths from tip to tip on the fork. Shoot a bunch of them. There will be a certain width that works well for your anchor point. Once you have that figured out spend money on a slingshot... Or don't. A natural fork can do everything a fancy slingshot can.
I'm not sure. I got it in a package deal from another shooter online. I just did a quick search and several medical supply places sell it in bulk sheets. Try that.
Hey man I tired to search for it but I couldn’t find any medical places that sells latex so if you can please put a link blow so I can buy some too brother Thank you🙏🏾
Hey, slingshots and shenanigans! I have an idea for you: why not make a video where you use only a knife, a hand saw and sandpaper tp make a slingshot frame? Here in nepal, us boys make slingshots using our bare hands and blunt old penknives, with rubber bands and pieces of stiff cloth for the bands and pouches. In many villages, it is still normal for children to make their own slingshots and catch birds and mice in the forests nearby or even on the roadside. You americans have it all: power tools, proper equipment, state of the art machinery, but you're forgetting: simple is also good! I myself have hit many birds and cats using stones for bullets, rubber bands or tourniquets for bands and roughly carved forked sticks for frames. Do try making one, you will find it out of the ordinary and primitive, but effective and fun! Or at least make one with fancy bands but without power tools. Hope to hear back soon!
These are natural latex. .8 thickness cit at a 25-20 taper and 6.5 active length. To be honest they are overkill, the next set I make with this material will probably be at a 22-12 taper. I shoot 11 mm steel.
Love the build videos! I made my first slingshot out of a birch fork from watching your videos! Thanks for the inspiration!
That is great to hear! May it feed you well!
Another nice slingshot. And i understand you with the dust. I've had my asthma all my life 66yrs and know what you mean my bradah 😉🙏🏽🤙🏽

The difference in taste between city squirrel and woodland squirrel is probably parallel to the survival mindset of city kids vs woodland kids.
Nice video My bro I hope more videos of hunting greetings from Costa Rica
Greetings! Season opens soon!
I just broke my bandsaw blade yesterday so I’ll be watching your video until I get a new one 😅
I know that struggle. I buy em 4 at a time now.

Great video 👍
Thanks for the visit
great videos, just wondering where you got your slingshot pattern at or something you came up with? thanks
It's something I have been fiddling with and adjusting for a couple years.
That looks great!
Thanks!
Beautiful sling shot brother, I shoot 5/16 steel, what’s the best taper you would recommend for that size?
I'm not sure on a taper for 5/16. I would start with 23/15 and adjust accordingly.
Awesome videos!!
Glad you like them!

I sand it lightly with 400. Then with 1000wet. Then buff it with jewelers rogue on a rag
@@sturmslingshotsandshenanigans Thank you so much my friend!!
Super nice 👌 👍
Thank you so much
Coming over the prong with the band you must get lots of ware on the band. Route around outside of posts and tie like pocket.

How long are your bands What kind of band thickness do you use. I would like to get started into shooting
I use .7 latex this time of year. In the summer .65. I shoot 11 mm steel. My band are 1/5 of my draw length.
what size ammo do you use with that band set? thanks for sharing this how-to video 👍
11 mm

what do you make the slingshot rubber out of?
Latex
Did you have website to buy from you?
I don't. I put some in my eBay store from time to time. www.ebay.com/usr/sturmslingshots

Not consistently, but I do put them up from time to time.
On ebay
Do you sale any of your slingshot?
From time to time I thin out my collection. Most go up on eBay, some get a hold of me on Facebook.

I don't know how I became a "Slingshot Nerd" I ordered up one frame and know I have 6 frames with 4 of them being comfortable to hold.
It's an evolution to a higher state of being.
