    FYI...I decided I don't like the angle of the bow when I hang the bow on the bar stock for the draw board. I was worried the string might derail. So I've just started taking the pin out and hanging the bow on the square tubing. It works better because it keeps the bow perfectly square. I may even cut off the bar stock since I won't be using it for the draw board anymore.

    Looking at your design, I think if I were to follow your inspiration, I would try to make use of both sides of the stand with the press on the far side and the draw board on the near side so there isn't a need to be swapping fingers.

    use a ratchet strap or cam buckle strap. loop the ends around you limbs and tighten the strap till your limbs retract. As long as you are careful about loosening them it all works as well as anything you can build .

    you could have the bar for the draw board collapse in to the arm would make it a lil less in the way working with the bow press configuration i like it though well done

    One quick question! Did you use a bearing at the end of the 2 inch tubing, mounted on the all thread. This bearing will support the all thread and turn smoothly.
    Great build! I like your design where you have the two plates welded to the square tubing. thank you for sharing your design.

    • @kelly.mondragon
      @kelly.mondragon  5 місяців тому +1

      I did not, but that is a smart idea. It is still pretty smooth though. I put grease on it and it has never bound up.

    No Thrust bearings? Mine has two eyelets too, but with a .1/2 shoulder bolt. I drilled a hole in the front of my fingers opposite of the thumb screw and installed a spring so when I adjust mine, the finger just moves back and forth without any slop. The springs keep the adjustment screw against the press at all times. I don't know why people leave this feature out. It is one of the easiest parts of the build.

    Thank you for sharing your build, looks great. I built most of this over the weekend, ran into a couple bumps but still very happy with the results so far. Your eyelids that you welded for the fingers( I ordered the same ones off eBay) do you feel that the 1/2 inch hole is necessary or could you of just stayed with the 7/16 predrillled hole? One other question, could you share the dimensions of the eyelids that you welded?

    • @kelly.mondragon
      @kelly.mondragon  3 місяці тому

      @@octwin definitely can stick with 7/16 if that works better for you and you have a pin that fits.
      I cut the eyelets at 1.5" x 1.5" square and then grinded the top corners to round them out.

    Do you have a issue with the bow coming out the bottom of press when pressing due to end of the limbs being curled back in some?

    • @kelly.mondragon
      @kelly.mondragon  4 місяці тому +1

      Nope. I've had about a dozen different bows in it by now and never had an issues. The way the fingers are designed make it almost impossible.

    Could you show the double nut ,on handle!!? Mine is sliding way out before it connects for pressing etc!!

    • @kelly.mondragon
      @kelly.mondragon  6 місяців тому +2

      It is as simple as putting two nuts tight together on the other side of the handle. The positive engagement will keep them, and your handle, from moving out.

    • @kelly.mondragon
      @kelly.mondragon  6 місяців тому +1

      Yes I did. However, like I mentioned in the video, I had most of the steel. So all I bought were the fingers ($80), the aluminum rod ($10), the winch ($25), plastic square plugs ($10), all-thread rod ($10), and spray paint ($10).
      I haven't priced metal lately, but I bet you could get it all from a scrap yard for less than $100 if you don't have any laying around like I did.
