I love Radahn's back story so much.
He loved his horse Lenard, but the hose grew old and weak as Radahn grew into a the armored monstrosity you saw. Radahn refusing to give up on Lenard learned gravity magic to make himself light as a feather.
Later the world got into a war against the creatures from outer space. Radahn ended this war by using his magic to HOLD BACK ALL THE STARS
Long after this, when everything went to pieces he fought Maliena, the host to a god of rot. He forced her to flee but not before she unleashed the rot. That is why Calead looks like that. Radahn did not die from this but instead has gone insane as the rot eats his brain.
His soldiers, utterly loyal to this hero, try to hold back the rot and organize the festival to give Radahn the glorious death in battle he deservers rather than let the rot eventually consume him.
This is were the player fights him. Dying while still HOLDING BACK ALL THE STARS.

The game isn't designed for you to be bad, you just have to be really really good. Literally anything and everything can kill you. On the other hand you can kill everything. It's just really hard to do.
It's like the a standard fantasy setup, but everyone else has the advantage. You just have the will to get back up every time someone kicks you down.
As a side note every time you die you lose all your upgrade points. They're easy enough to get back....But still.
This is not a game for casual players.

ELDEN RING has a straight forward path that will lead to the bosses of areas, but you aren't required to follow them. You can choose to fight enemies for Runes (your experience points for leveling up and your currency) or look for goodies in side routes until you are ready to challenge a boss.
By upgrading with Runes, you can add more health, magic, damage, etc. to your character to help make taking down these bosses easier. Taking side routes lets the player find new weapons, armor, optional bosses like the glowing deer from this video (bosses drop large amounts of Runes, some let you get super special gear), merchants, and other goodies.
You will have to fight the main bosses eventually, but taking side routes helps you become stronger, either by your gear or your experience level, which makes boss fights easier.

There's a few ways to stop fighting a boss, besides dying to them. There's an item that lets you teleport to the last place you rested at, or you can quit and restart the game, OR you can... unalive yourself through various means (not IRL please 😰). All of these options essentially send you back in time to right before the fight started (at the cost of some currency/xp). From there you can attempt the fight again, or try your luck in the open world to find some better gear and get some practice.

Ah my poor little casual gamer.
No. The whole purpose of souls games is to die. A million times. But you die fairly. Every boss CAN be beaten basically right away if your good enough. You die to learn. You die to be better. It's part of the games mechanics. The game was always designed to be incredibly difficult but mostly fair in that if you learn what your doing wrong and the bosses moves you'll always win.

Not an offshoot, I believe she's referring to the fantasy genre of swords, magics and dragons.
From outside perspective, it sort of has the "Old Ye" style of old fantasy, and she DID say she wasn't a gamer, so you know...
Still, I get ya. SKYRIM? Technically the right genre of fantasy, but not even CLOSE in terms of the setting. That was a huge miss.

The important thing to understand about Elden Ring is that it's an open world, and it's full of optional dungeons and bosses you can fight through for extra XP/loot. Over time, you can buff yourself to a point where you no longer get completely annihilated by every boss you come across, but it also takes time, patience, and yes, skill.
Frankly, I got through the first Dark Souls game and after that I just didn't have the brain juice for it. Yes, I could spend ten hours banging my head against a wall until I break through it... or I could do something that's actually fun *right now.*

In general From Software designs gameplay to match the plot and the plot says your character is a long shot so fighting a god is like actually fighting a god. But if you die you can always try again. Another staple of the company is learning from failure and because of that, winning is more impactful because you did that through your own improvement. Not because your numbers are bigger or the game was easy (although geter does help). If your food enough, it's possible to go through the game at lv 1. That's kind of what separates this game from something like Skyrim where in Skyrim you become so powerful nothing can touch you but fighting dragon #7000 becomes a chore, here dragon #7000 is still a threat and you have to earn that win.

Elden Ring is hard, yes, but a good kind of hard. Especially in Elden Ring (compared to previous titles from FromSoftware), you have minimal BS ways to die. You get immediate feedback on what you can adjust on the next try, there aren't any whacky reasons for dying other than not being good enough (yet), which is honestly one of the most attractive attributes of games like these.

From Soft games are meant to be challenging but fair. The thing about Elden Ring is that bosses have this studder-step-no-jutsu bullshit that makes learning their rhythm difficult. Even I beat it, but not ashamed to say I used Spirit Ashes (summons based on other characters and monsters). They're in the game, Imma use them.

    • @brucenatelee
      @brucenatelee Рік тому +1

It's an open world, so you can go where ever you want to discover what you need to improve your character. Weapons, armor, skills (Ashes of War), summons (Spirit Ashes), magic (spells, incantation), etc. I grinded and used guides to know exactly what I needed to get most things before beating the boss. Yes, the blasphemous blade helped... A LOT!!!

I’m going to clear up some misinformation here by telling a story about how my friend played this game, my friend has no sense of curiosity or adventure and if he is pointed in a direction he will go that way until he falls off a cliff
Ok so he played elden ring by going directly to the first boss without even so much as noticing his surroundings or the fact that the path to the boss had a very obvious split in the road and he wound up dying over and over, to this day he has not beaten the boss and he won’t do anything else unless the game tells him to explicitly
I for one think he is barely sentient, basically this is an example of what not to do

Honestly Elden ring is by far the easiest soulsborne game to date (that I’ve played, I’m on pc so unfortunately I haven’t been able to play demon souls or bloodborne yet) I know people will probably disagree but after playing darksouls 1 and 2 several times, I finally got a pc that could run DS3 and while it didn’t give me too much trouble due to the experience from the previous games, there were still a couple bosses that took me a bit too long to beat, Elden ring on the other hand… there was only one boss that took me more than 2 tries and I’m sure anyone who’s played it knows who I’m talking about, idk if it’s that the bosses are genuinely easier or if it’s just because of the insane amount of weapon customization or a combo of the two but it’s definitely the easiest
All of that is to say, no offense to max0r but idk if he’s either just dicking around or just kinda sucks at these types of games but the first boss while a clear roadblock to let you know what you’re in for, is not very difficult at all, his attacks are all either slow, short range or have a huge wind up and there are no unstated requirements to beat him, just whack him really hard
