its 7mm to ft which works out at 1/43.5 scale. But its on 32mm gauge track. Standard gauge at 4' 8.5" on 32mm should be 1/45 scale. Hence continental stock such as Lima is slightly smaller than UK makes. The Scale7 crowd stick to 7mm to ft (1/43.5) scale but use 33mm gauge and finer wheel standards. BTW some of the live steam engines in my videos are made to 1/45 but run on 32mm gauge track. The reason for the compromise is that most UK prototypes are made to Imperial measurements (feet and inches) but wished to run on the O Gauge historical standard of 1 1/4" gauge track. Adopting a scale of 1/45 makes more sense IMHO
@@associatedblacksheepandmisfits This layout is in Essex. In fact most of the layouts I feature are in Essex, Wiltshire or Surrey. So quite a journey from Scotland.
Looks like a good day out again Dave, thanks once again.
Excellent! 👏😊
How many millimeters is O gauge in the UK? Is there a scale difference?

@@DrDave_63395 Wow! That makes sense. Thank you, Dave.
BTW, I got my Eddie Cooke book thanks to you. Keep up the great videos.
Is this a private layout Mr Robinson?
Yes it’s owned by Graham Sheppard
@@DrDave_63395 I would love to visit sometime, I don't know any layouts locally. Strathclyde and argyll.
