everyone who thinks the dream is to be the king of the pirates isnt fully grasping this scene and how important it is, its so much more than that its the hidden dream being hinted at since wayyy back
The subtitles are also wrong when Ace told her about Luffy's dream. He didn't say "That is my brother's dream", he said "That is what lies *at the end of my brother's dream* ". meaning, the result of being Pirate King.
Becoming the Pirate King is only a means to an end to Luffy.
Facts, becoming the King of the Pirates is Luffy's goal but his vision goes well beyond that. He hasn't done all this just to sit on some "throne."
It's extremely obvious that they're not talking about that. For a huge number of reasons. Yet some people insist upon it. It's crazy

Luffy's and Roger's dream were to throw the biggest party with all of their friends and everyone the Met along the way.
Yes that's one of the most popular theories about their dream and even though it's such a simple idea I personally think it would fit so well in the story

These types of scenes are what makes one piece a masterpiece and the best anime in my opinion,how the creator combines comedy,adventure,mystery is just pure gold,One piece is the best anime for me and no one can change that.

I always thought his true dream could be king of parties are something like that since he’s a child (it has to be a dream a kid can think of) he had no idea what a pirate king is as a child, so there for it has to be something childish. Hince why ace and sabo laughed at him and also when whitebeard laughed at Roger. Whitebeard even stated “that’s a childs fantasy”. Also another supporting evidence for my “king of parties” is that he likes to throw banquets all the time. It really does suck that these reactors don’t grasp this scene and concept, since it’s such a important scene.

The dream luffy and Roger both have,I don't think Roger was able to fulfill his,but luffy will,and I strongly support the theory that his dream is to host the greatest party in the world and invite everyone,when Roger died he was surrounded by people who were chained by the goverment and were unable to do anything and luffy is gonna break that chain,make everyone happy and filled with joy and will finally be bestowed with the name joyboy.

Luffy, Roger and Joyboy (Assuming that's the person Yamato is referring to) all have the same dream and I'm looking forward to finding out what it really is. Probably could finish Roger and Luffys sentences like this, "I'll.../I'm gonna... make everyone smile/laugh/happy".

Yamato did not know Roger is Ace's father until Ace's death. She knew it because of Sengoku revealing it to the world. You can rewatch the scene where Yamato noticed that Ace's vivre card is slowly burning.

And I'm pretty sure ace either told her while he was with her or she simply didn't need to know cus knowing that doesn't make a difference to what ace said at the time.
