Very nice rabbit hutch I love it but one thing you should make them a ramp to get up in the little cubby cozy area so they don't jump up or down and hurt their legs
Your editing is great 👍, mine sucks, I should be ashamed lol, why not elevate hutch and collect the free fertilizer, its cold compost, it can be used directly on plants, im building a hutch on top of my compost bins to collect the fertilizer lol
Thanks, I've been practicing a lot! I ended up re-locating this hutch onto an area that will become a garden bed. So now all the manure will compost in place and build the bed up, then I'll move the hutch when I'm done. That being said it's still messy. Building directly over a compost bin sounds quite functional.
That's a great idea! When I was a kid my dad built our second set of hutches tall enough and wide enough to accommodate a plastic wheeled garden cart under each end (park the barrows between the legs on the short ends of the hutches) so we could dump the poop elsewhere pretty easily. It wasn't cost effective for multiple hutches but for the four we had at the time (1 buck, 2 does, 1 growout pen) it worked pretty well.
Thanks for all the great questions! There's nothing weighing it down other than the weight of the structure itself and its contents. The bottom is covered in 2x4 wire mesh which prevents burrowing out but lets grass in. And yes, I added a ramp afterwards to access the upper loft 👌
They are New Zealand x Lionhead cross, super cute! Since they are a cross they will lose their mane over time, but some of their offspring have the double lionhead gene with SUPER fluffy manes 😍
Thanks for your interest! I don't have a cut list at the moment unfortunately. It's basically a 4x6' rectangle that's 3' tall, constructed out of 2x2 lumber. Hopefully that's enough to get you started!
@@chicoringler That's a great suggestion! I've been hesitant to talk too much about meat rabbits on the vlogs as it can be a sensitive subject to some people, but it's been a great experience for us overall.
I actually have two that’s why I’m watching this video. They are currently living in a room wrecking my walls so I decided it would be best to move them outside in a safe outdoor enclosure.

I’m in the IT field and I would literally give up all my technology knowledge to have the know how to do what you just did. 😊
Getting this level of skill typically means he has made a lot of mistakes in other projects. Don’t be afraid of teaching yourself a new skill set! 👍🏼😎
Haha thanks! I come from an IT background myself, this is all just learnt through DIY projects like this :)
Same boat I’m tired of paying ppl to build things. 😢

He made it look easy. The amount of time I messed up trying to make it 😂😂
Haha dont feel bad. I was able to edit my mistakes out of the final video 😂
Lovely new home for the bunnies, you make it look so easy! 🌟 Love from Scotland 🏴 xxx
Thanks so much! Haha there's a lot of head scratching that goes on behind the scenes, it's not always easy 😂
Sweet! I bet the rabbits are cozy now. Great video 😀
Thanks so much Taemin! The rabbits are SUPER cozy now 😁
Very nice rabbit hutch I love it but one thing you should make them a ramp to get up in the little cubby cozy area so they don't jump up or down and hurt their legs
That's a great idea! I've since added ramps for the rabbits to get up and down comfortably from the top nests 😀

Great job man. Greetings from Greece
Great demonstration. Do you remember the details of the mesh you used? Gauge.. and spacing?
Thanks so much! It's 1/4" hardware mesh, I don't remember the gauge it was just whatever they had at the hardware store.
Another great build! New Sub!
Thank you and thank you for the sub! I've checked out some of your awesome plant videos as well and subbed for more of your sweet content 🙌
@@Slowsteading Very cool thank you!!
How is the rabbits supposed to get in the box's you put up high . Didn't see a ramp
Apologies, I added the ramp afterward and forgot to include it in the video!
Nice work!
Thanks so much!
could you include the cut sizes for the cage
3:51 you almost died ! 😊 ty for vid good spark for my mind
Seriously! Note to self, don't do building projects outside during windstorms 🤷🏻♂
@@Slowsteading yeah i tried assembling my 10x20 metal shed in a windstorm.... yeahhh lol
@@generic_Ryan Yikes, watch out for flying razorblades 😂
Can you share the sizes of all the woods that has been used?

Amazing
Thanks!
Hi, thanks for this video. Did you treat the wood for the hutch so that it would handle the elements? What did you use?
Thanks for watching. I didn't end up treating it although some sort of stain or finishing would certainly prolong the life
What a cute kid: "noisy."
Haha yeah they're great helpers
what do you have weighing it down? how do you avoid them going underneath it? do you have a ramp for them to get up into their cubicles
Thanks for all the great questions! There's nothing weighing it down other than the weight of the structure itself and its contents. The bottom is covered in 2x4 wire mesh which prevents burrowing out but lets grass in. And yes, I added a ramp afterwards to access the upper loft 👌
@@Slowsteading lol sorry for so many! very intriguing video, im on an enclosure binge right now😂 thank you for responding!
@@mikgriddle For sure, I hope this video was helpful for you!
What kind of rabbits are those? They are so cute 🥰

Did you have to check the driveway for nails/screws/staples a lot?
Nope, just maintained a tidy workspace as I went
Do you have a cut list for this project?

Do you happen to have the markup still with measurements you cut?
Unfortunately I don't. The structure itself is 6' x 4' and 3' tall though, hopefully that helps.
this might work out great for timeouts! did you try locking your kid in there? lol
Haha great idea! Separate compartments too, one for each kid 😂
👍
Thanks!
Why are you keeping them separate?
Rabbits have a tendency to reproduce like crazy, so the male and female remain separated except for controlled breading.
Won’t they dig right under?
The floor is covered with wire mesh to prevent digging 👌
These poor screws and bits 😢
😂😂😂
get a Giant Flemish rabbit
We had two actually, with many successful litters ✌🙂
@@Slowsteading Nice! It would cool if you can feature it to your vlogs..
