Yes! Hello from New South Wales Australia! I'm glad I'm not the only who goes to the op shop for patterns I have so many I've gotten for free! Love you style and videos 😊❤️
I always forget that even my favorite content creators get their period and experience negative symptoms because of it. Especially bloating. I bloat really bad but so few people ever talk about it that sometimes I forget that it's normal. Thank you for being comfortable enough to show us that you're a person. I imagine that it can be daunting at times to be open on a platform where anyone can comment anything❤️
I had such a proud moment for myself when l saw this video. l actually bought this fabric 12 months ago and just finished making the dress. I picked a "Janelle" fabric even before you did. ❤ Now l love it even more.
Just FYI if you stay stitch the neckline on dresses like this one that have a detailed neckline shape you should be able to avoid the issue you had with one side of the front neckline being different from the other. The problem is caused by the fact that parts of the front neckline are slightly on the bias and will tend to stretch. Without the neckline ruffle, having interfaced the lining should keep the bias parts in check, but with the ruffle added, the non-interfaced front neckline can stretch when applying the ruffle. Hope this makes sense and helps!
I just loooove watch you making dresses! Always so inspirational, even tho I know nothing about sewing lol please please please consider making a "sewing for dummies" series, I adore the way you explain things!
Hi Janelle, Thanks for taking us with u on ur sewing journey with this project. Getting through my pansy dress made loads of mistakes but hopefully when I'm finished I will have my first ever me made dress. Thanks again.
Thanks for this gorgeous DIY summer dress 🥰. I wish we weren’t half way through autumn already in France. Dear Janelle could you think of another video with a thicker fabric someday ?
I really do love the styles of dresses you make. This dress fits so we'll and looks lovely on you!! I do favor the "vent" in front. It's nice to show a peek of leg! I had a pattern for a pencil skirt with a front vent, but cut the pieces out when I was much smaller... I don't do that anymore. It's best to copy the pieces in the size you need so you can always have the pattern intact in all the original sizes.. You always inspire me to see!! Cheers luv! Oh, and excited to follow you in Japan. It's a beautiful culture! I've bought three Smart Dolls from Japan, and the artist who created them offers free patterns to sew outfits for the dolls. Some very intricate patterns... 😀😆🤨
The good thing about gored pennels is that you have lots of seams to let out to a 1/2 centre meter allowance. Also if you put a v in the ruffle center front it will gape less. Great job.
It was great watching you make all the tweaks to this dress…I particularly like the beautiful neckline with the lovely frill detail….thanks foe sharing. I must compliment you on the way you show what you are doing and how you explain things….I think you are the best on utube!
Love love love the addition of the ruffles, side slit and sleeves!! I love sitting down to watch your videos on the weekend as a relaxing and fun treat 💖
Having pockets is nice but there are styles of dresses, skirts and pants that don't really go well with pockets, you don't want the bulk, I think it's fine to skip them sometimes! :)
As I'm watching this it's 10pm on Sunday night in North Eastern USA and its unseasonably warm here. We're well into Autumn and it's currently 66℉/18℃ I'm so over this warm weather. I want some sweater weather!
Love the dress! Never thought of adding interfacing to the entire bodice of a dress, but yours came out beautifully! I also love your styling with black boots😍
Another cute dress. I love the green and floral of the fabric. I also love the added ruffle in the neckline and the puff and gathering of the sleeves. Have fun wearing during your summer.
It turned out so sweet. I love it so much. Loved all the little extra details too. I panicked for a second when you were stitching the panels and had forgotten the pockets lol.. obviously then you explained you weren’t putting any in this one! 😁
love the dress and all of your videos. Would you consider doing a video on tips and tricks for beginners for cutting straight working with rayon and any other tips to build confidence. You cut into your fabric so beautifully, so satisfying to watch. I feel like I spend so much time pulling my fabric to try and make sure it's square but when I cut my rectangles out they're different.
The dress turned out super well and suits you beautifully 😍. If I were trying a style outside my comfort zone, as you did this time, I'd always make a muslin first to check the fit. I know it's a bore (and it would not make good viewing...) but it would just be too devastating to make up a dress in some dreamy fabric only to find I couldn't do up the zip! 😱 Perhaps you did this off-screen? Anyway, the end result does fit you and looks fabulous, so that's excellent!
Style patterns were always my favorites. But, I believe they were bought out by Simplicity in the mid-90's. I scour resale sites looking for ones I used to sew.
A very inspiring make - I am just so inspired by your whole channel. If that dress were too tight on me, I would probably add some sort of back centre placket to add a couple of more inches wiggle room. You did great, I love all your makes, we have the same sort of style taste
I LOVE everything about this dress! Great decision to add the ruffle and the side slit! I'm intrigued with the mixing up of the patterns - out of interest would you have also mixed and matched with 2 different brands or you would stick to the same for sizing consistency? Happy Sunday!x
It was just a coincidence that they were all the same brand (I do have a lot of style patterns in my stash though). I’d mash up different brands of patterns together for sure!
Super cute dress!! Love the gathered edge at the neckline!! You are so talented!! I know you recycle a lot of fabrics for your dresses. What fabrics are your favorites to work with? Cotton, cotton blends, rayons etc. Thanks for another great video!!😊
Hi Janelle, love your work. I have 4 or 5 (50s/60s era) Australian Home Journals, which include patterns, that my mother and I shared many years ago while I was in my very early teens. Just wondering if you would be interested in these. If so could you please let me know where I can send them. Look forward to hearing from you. Pat Huggard.
Love you video again, i love your style of cloths, maybe it's mine style also, because in all of my love i haven't found i style i like. How knows. Greeting Desiree 🇳🇱
This is so pretty! It is SO flattering to your amazing form and I love the ruffle detail at the neck! Do you have a long sleeve version of the puffy sleeve template? Or would you just add lengeth to the bottom half?
This is so lovely, it turned out perfect! The colour really suits you. I got the same fabric and plan to make a midi wrap dress - would you recommend interfacing the fabric for that? I’ve never worked with rayon before and when I saw you interfaced yours I wondered if I’d need to as well. I assume it might gape a bit otherwise? Thanks for sewing inspo Janelle 😊
Not necessarily! For a wrap dress I’d personally skip interfacing entirely, even when working with rayon. But I recommend adding it where the pattern suggests if you’d like the fabric to have a little bit of structure 😊
Hi Janelle, I remember you saying a while ago that you use Coles baking paper as tracing paper and I’ve tried it but find pen ink doesn’t soak in - is there a particular type of pen you use? Thanks in advance. Anita
Pure laziness 😂 I’ve been sewing my own clothes for 15 years so I have a good idea now of what will and won’t work (I made a mock-up of my trousers when I was making them though because I rarely make trousers), and most minor mistakes are fixable!
I don't want to criticise your fabric choices, but I've watched two of your videos, and noticed that you have chosen rayon both times. As rayon is man made do you not find it hot to wear? Otherwise I enjoy watching you.
Rayon is man-made, but from natural/cellulose fibres and is therefore very breathable and lightweight and my go to for summer dresses (unlike polyester/nylon which is gross to wear)
@@RoseryApparel , thank you for replying so quickly. I didn't know that rayon uses natural/cellulose. I will remember that fact. Because I have a chronic illness, my clothes need to be light. Therefore I make my own.
There’s something so cozy about watching your videos on a Sunday 😌 I love sitting down with my cuppa and knitting while watching 🧶
Aw this is SO lovely! Exactly how I hope people feel when watching my vids 🧡 x
I'm obsessed 😍
Please pleeeeeease can your next pattern be a dress like this? I would love to make one of those for me 💕
Super cute and feminine, too. Looks great on You !
I think for your next pattern you should create an empire waist dress! I am obsessed!
Omg yes! If you could recreate this pattern for sale I would be eternally grateful and buy that so fast!!!
Love these vintage sewing videos. I love how you mix and match patterns to get exactly what you want. So inspiring!
Thanks! I’m so glad you enjoy them 🧡
This would be such an awesome new pattern from you!!!
This is exactly the type of dress I want to make. ♥️
Love the fabric and style. I think the ruffle was a great addition! 👍

I could try, but I already made my seams pretty tiny!
This dress is so pretty, also can't wait for you to make this skirt pattern.

Thank you! That’s lovely feedback to hear 🥰
Your fabric has a definite Laura Ashley vibe Janelle it reminds me of clothes you could buy from her shop in the late 70s ✂️🧵🪡
Lovely Janelle, love the colour. Your dress looks great on you.
Yes please do an empire midi dress...thank you. Remain blessed xxx
Beautiful! Love the ruffle added! And the fabric!
Love love love the addition of the ruffles, side slit and sleeves!! I love sitting down to watch your videos on the weekend as a relaxing and fun treat 💖

@@RoseryApparel We had a long hot summer here.
This new background music is so gooooood so cosy
Love the dress! Never thought of adding interfacing to the entire bodice of a dress, but yours came out beautifully! I also love your styling with black boots😍
Thank you 🧡 I almost always skip interfacing, but the bodice definitely needed a bit of structure because the rayon fabric was so light weight!
the fabric with tiny prints are hard to find but they look very professional when they are done.
Another cute dress. I love the green and floral of the fabric. I also love the added ruffle in the neckline and the puff and gathering of the sleeves. Have fun wearing during your summer.
Looks amazing great job
it is a beautiful dress looks amazing
Thank you for taking us along on another sewing journey 👏🏻 It's so interesting to see you improvise as the project progresses.
The dress looks gorgeous. I always look forward to your videos. They are so relaxing.

Love the way you customized your perfect dress. Amazing.
Gorgeous! You need to make it into a pattern now! 😊
You look beautiful in the dress!! I love the design.

you could iron the rayon with spray starch that might help in cutting it out.
Gosh I love those pockets I use that pattern for everything
Such a lovely dress ! It looks amazing on you! 👗 💕
Wow, very beautiful
Love this dress. Very form fitting.
So adorable
Once again informative and the end results stunning.🤗🤗
Another lovely make Janelle x
this is so prettyyyy i love all the details!!
I love your patterns!
sooo cute!!!!! well done Janelle, it's absolutely gorgous!

With so many lovely dresses, how do you even decide what to wear each day??
I LOVE everything about this dress! Great decision to add the ruffle and the side slit! I'm intrigued with the mixing up of the patterns - out of interest would you have also mixed and matched with 2 different brands or you would stick to the same for sizing consistency? Happy Sunday!x

I've noticed that I've been buying a lot of 70s patterns lately. Similar to what you've made.
It looks so gorgeous on you 😍 Definitely nothing I could wear for a heavy Christmas dinner, given how snug it sits 😂
Haha my gathered dresses are definitely the way to go for Christmas Day!

also girl i feel you about the period bloat hahah but you look amazing regardless!!
Haha thanks lovely xx
If you need a little more room, you can go back to the side seams and make them a little thinner.
If you do feel it’s to snug. You could let the seams outs . It’s a very pretty dress 👗
I always preferred Style patterns. Sad they've gone.

Thank you 🧡
