- Epic scenery and amazing light are the highlights of this third Patagonia video - taken on our Max Rive landscape photography workshop - this time exploring Laguna de los Tres and more of the area around El Chalten.

Our thanks to @MaxRivePhotography for organizing the tour, and to our amazing guides: @MarcoGrassiPhotography and Jessica Lancia (@TravelToBeAlive).
man, so many memories in these videos. My friend and I trekked through Patagonia last spring and re-watching these videos is pure nostalgia! funny enough we ran into Marco and the people in his workshop.
Incredible place!
Loved it. Muy bien.
Amazing landscapes!
Patagonia Argentina, Magnifico lugares para el disfrute de todos, asi somos los Argentinos.
I Need to go threre soon as possible
I dont know how many times i see this video series, all are amazing. This video, i impressed with the color of 2:35, surreal. 4:16, is top spot , i dream to visit this spot. Thanks for sharing, David
Thanks Taufik (I hope I have your name right!). I wish I could go back with today’s iPhone and DJI Pocket 3 and shoot it all over again.
Tendrían q conocer el parque perito moreno q es muy poco conocido y es impresionante
For those that want the English translation, this reads "They would have to know the Park Perito Moreno is very little known and is impressive"
Great footage! I’m going to be there in a few days! So excited! Are you used Chileno camping for the morning outing to sunrise?how long before sunrise do you leave?
That is exciting! We did not use Chileno Camping, but had our camping organized by our guide, Marco Grassi. We would change how early we would get out before sunrise based on where we were planning to shoot that day. Some locations took only a few minutes to get to, others would take longer. Fortunately the sun rises quite late there at this time of year. I hope you have a wonderful trip!
I loved the three videos in El Chalten. I was there a few weeks ago and its so beautiful!
Thanks Yukino! Definitely one of my favorite places on earth! Were you there as a photographer, or just to enjoy the scenery?
Wow, you had some amazing weather, autumn colour and great light.
It was incredible! One of my favorite life experiences. I hope you have a chance to go.
@@DavidSkok1 Thanks, I'm going at the end of March next year.
Wow its just amazing! Majestic landscape of nature. In some minutes of your video I paused it, have a screen shot and used it as a wallpaper background in my laptop. Great video. This is masterpiece!
Thanks Enad!
The sad thing is that not many argentines know these beautiful and impressive corners of Patagonia, it is very expensive for most of us. Greetings from Mendoza.
a ellos les sale 2 mangos venir jajaj
David, It's been a pleasure getting to re-watch these videos over and over again, and even moreso after coming back from my first trip ever from here. I'm still holding out hope that you'll finish your 4th installment of this series! In the mean time, thanks again for producing these videos - my favorite I have seen of this region.
Hi Bryce, thanks! That will inspire me to see if I can find the time to edit the next one. I hope you had a fantastic visit.
@@DavidSkok1 thanks for the inquiry, David, it was wonderful! We never got to see Cerro Torre, so hopefully your next installment will include that! Love your images from this trip.
Such amazing place and great videos!
Great videos sharing, you guys were lucky to have such a great weather and lights. congrats
Amazing, great work..!!!! Next year in March I go there :-)
Thanks Petr - this is one spectacular place - I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
You did an incredible job producing this series of videos, David. Easily one of my favorite from Patagonia. Will you be coming out with more video from here?
Hi Bryce, thanks! Yes - just produced a video on a trip I did to Lisbon: ua-cam.com/video/mphSrxTZsrU/v-deo.html
David Skok Will you also have more videos from Patagonia?
@@brycemironuck Yes if I can find the time to do the editing. I still have some great footage from the rest of the trip. Are you planning on going?
David Skok yes, Im going to be going. However, Im just looking forward to see the rest of your footage!
@@DavidSkok1 Yeah, planning on going! Looking forward to seeing more of your videos!
Awesome videos! What lens are you using?
Thanks! I was using a Sony 24-105mm f4 for most shots, and occasionally I'd use the Sony 16-35mm f2.8 GM. Not shown in this video, but it's often great to have a telephoto, so for compactness, I took the Sony 70-300mm. All these lenses are really sharp and complement the 42 megapixels of the Sony A7r III.
For walking around video, I wish I'd had the new iPhone XS Max that I have today. It has great stabilization built right in. I also really love the Movi iPhone stabilizer. Or if I had to travel light I'd use the Osmo Pocket. We're headed to the Dolomites this year and that (plus a Mavic 2 Pro and Osmo Action) will be my packing list.
What month was it❤
Hi David, what were your dates for this trip?
Riasat Abir Around April 20th
Torres del Paine is amazing!
This is not Torres del paine, is mont Fitz Roy
Great video and images. What dates in April did you travel? Looks like you got peak fall colour. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Ash. We were there from the 11th to the 20th of April. Great time of year for the fall colors.
David Skok Great. Many thanks for the feedback. You guys got amazing conditions and wonderful images. Cheers
@@DavidSkok1 its exactly the dates ill go next april.
@@morpheusjp Have a great trip!
@@DavidSkok1 thank you, i got my photos were i was planning at Secret Falls, i had 3 wonderfull sunny days here in El Chalten
Why did you have to bugger it up by adding that god-awful noise pretending to be a soundtrack, after all the effort and skill you invested in the photographic imagery? Because you can does not mean you must. Your soundtrack turns a visual feast into a sonic ordeal.
Barry - thanks for the candid feedback! I really appreciate hearing what you didn't like. (For me the hardest part of doing these videos is finding the right music.) What in your view have you liked in the way of soundtracks? Do you prefer quieter classical style music, or something completely different?
@@DavidSkok1 David, thank you for taking the trouble to reply to my undoubtedly brutal criticism. Regarding some suitable music to reflect the savage grandeur of Torres del Paine etc, two classical works spring to mind immediately. Schubert's 9th Symphony ( The Great C major, and Glazunov's Seasons, particularly Autumn and winter. Excerpts from these works would I feel light up and emphasise the mood of the superb visuals and add to their already considerable dramatic impact. Of course personal tastes differ widely, but I'm sure the classical repertoire can offer many many more examples of music which not only can capture the essence of the landscape, but add immensely to the viewers experience.
Sorry David, I fat- fingered the send button before wishing you many more successful journeys to the wilder ends of the earth. I look back on my time in the Andes ( around Cerro Mercedario) with great fondness but being in my ninth decade I feel I might just be a little bit past my peak so to speak, to consider another six week sojourn roaming mapless in the southern wilderness. That prospect might alarm some in this day , but it was really no big deal at all. A notebook for skyline sketches, and compass for the bearings of salient features and a few notes here and there were all that was needed. Heresy I know, but that basically was all that guided the safe return of the early explorers in the Greater Ranges, tho doubtless their cartographic skills far exceeded my, by comparison, illiterate attempts to apply their example to my wanderings. From your experience you must be familiar with the scarcity of reliable maps over much, perhaps most of the Andean range, but it's not difficult to stay safe as long as you don't push your luck... so best wishes for you in your wilderness journeys, may you always return in at least as good a shape as when you set out. Best regards.
@@barryfullick7981 Roaming mapless! - That really is impressive! I have to believe that there were a few scary moments. Sending you my very best wishes. And thanks for the feedback on the music!
@@DavidSkok1 Apologies for my slow response David, but it honestly was not an impressive effort. It really was no big deal to follow a river upstream, a valley up to a col etc. As for worrying experiences the only bad moments were spread over three days during which I found myself to be probably the not so proud owner of the only MSR Whisperlite International in the whole wide world of wilderness wandering which, despite my best efforts to persuade it otherwise, resolutely refused to work. Hence, dry uncooked rations and stream water to drink. Lesson learned ,carry enough sterilising tablets to keep healthy if you cannot boil water.
Good like with all your wanderings and may you enjoy many more of them. Best regards, and I look forward to seeing more of your videos, for which many thanks, Barry Fullick, Stamford, England.
As is usually the case with stove malfunctions the cause turned out to be very basic as I discovered when I returned to Barreal. I had fueled up with premium grade petrol instead of the low grade stuff it needed. Careless mistake, my fault and nothing wrong with the excellent Whisperlite whatsoever. I still have it, it still works well. I'm so glad I did not hurl it off a cliff or wreck any other harm upon it in my anger and frustration when it stopped working.
Your Patagonian epic , now that's what I think is impressive. My trip pales into insignificance by comparison. Mostly very benign, warm weather, apart from the bizaarly odd experience of being bitterly cold in the middle of a minor sandstorm generated by the katabatic wind pouring down from higher altitudes and picking up every grain of sand and particle of dust in it's path. A brief but unpleasant interruption in an on the whole quite satisfying little holiday. One thing that would have improved it a lot would have been a better knowledge of Spanish as the little I acquired from a phrasebook Ipicked up to readon the plane down to BzAz wasnt a lot of help. Fortunately many Argentina's spoke decent enough English and were kind enough to want to help me with anything I needed. Apart from their innate friendliness, it was an opportunity for them to practice their English on a native English speaker.
the video is great bute mate, the music stinks
Thanks Juan. The hardest part of making these videos is finding appropriate music. Sorry this didn't work for you. I hope you have a chance to experience this part of the world. It was truly amazing!
I know it’s difficult to pick the music.
I’m actually from Argentina and I’ve been to Chalten a number of times, I’m a tour guide, Laguna de Los Tres is def one of my favorites
@@Haansollo I’m jealous! That seems like it would be a great job - assuming you get nice clients! I’m dying to come back and try to do a better job of capturing the amazing experience.
Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment.
Nice video but ugly music
Sorry you didn't like the music. Turns out that finding music is the hardest part of making these videos. It takes forever - listening to hundreds of tracks that don't fit. In the end, I often just compromise and get on with it.
@@DavidSkok1 Understood. It is about nature that supposed to calm music. Thanks anyway
yes most people use such a bad music,it's ashame:poor generation!!
Everything is great!
nice video, bad music
Sorry that you didn't like the music. But I appreciate the comment as it helps me pick differently next time round. Thanks for commenting. I have a new video up of a really fun trip to Venice that you might like: ua-cam.com/video/T8pOEyiDEok/v-deo.html
