Rick and Korbin if you didn't understand 28:06 about Gautam's sleepless nights - STR, the hero of that film, although is very popular, is unfortunately known for his indiscipline. He doesn't show up to shoots on time, goes absent on many days, has created a lot of trouble for producers in his prev films. That's why Gautam said he was assuming his sleepless nights would be about worrying if the next day shoot will happen or not, but fortunately STR was disciplined throughout. Trivia: STR was the main cast + singer from the latest chartbuster Thee Thalapathy from Varisu, which you reacted to and loved. Movie recommendation: Maanadu starring STR released last year is one of the best sci fi /fantasy thrillers out there. Fantastic screenplay. I highly recommend that movie.

The reason why a movie like Kantara is working is also the fact that Hindi audiences are tired of *tried & tested commercial format that Hindi is accustomed to & most movies feeling similiar of been there & done that* & the audiences are trying to look beyond that which is boring them, then u see youtubers of other languages watch that & sell in their reviews how good the movie is & 3 out of 4 people who watch it, pass the information to others & that spreads the word of mouth to a larger mass, helping in making a non promoted movie into a sensation & people who wanted the different movie are getting that in a different language but also the hunger for good cinema getting fulfilled in a time where getting good cinema is scarce & it is found when people become nomads for movies via the internet & social media becoming a promoter by itself for people to easily find good cinema & not worry about wasting money on a movie they know is not good via reviews.

You announce a star first because it helps with financing. You honestly think any star in South India will ask for a script for Vikram 2? No because it is an hugely successful franchise in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. You add your fans to the existing fan base for the franchise and make it a massive hit. No one is sure if Brahmastra viewers will return for part 2 Fact is it was Dharma who was spreading the rumors with Yash. They know that it is hard to finance the second part because the movie failed in the South and some of the Metros. If you look at any of the so called pan India movies 75% of their collection came from overseas or the South. Granted those are Telugu or Kannada movies. So a Bollywood movie can survive without those regions if the budget is below 100 crores. Even then they will need massive collections from Mumbai and NCR who account for 60 to 65% of collection. This was true of Brahmastra. The movie did not make money because of budget which was partially the fault of covid. However there is no gaurantee that part 2 will have that kind of pull in Mumbai, NCR nor can it be mounted for 100 cr or less. So they needed a bankable Southern superstar. People are not joining Brahmastra 2 because they might have to carry the whole franchise and if they are going to do that anyway they might as well do for their own vision not someone else's
it is not only about them being legends but also they are elders/seniors. I don't think any of the south Indian movie makers or actors will call their seniors by their name. If it were in regional language, they'd be called brother or some salutation of respect in the respective language.

Hindi market is a very different now. Films like KFG2, RRR worked but PSI and Vikram didn’t. Why didn’t they connect with the Hindi audience. Top Gun, Jurassic Park, Black Panther are big hits everywhere except Hindi market. Why didn’t they connect? Laal Singh Chaddha has very high audience reviews (90% Rotten Tomatoes) but Hindi box office was weak while overseas was very good. One reason is false negativity of people who comment and review films without seeing them. This is something other industries don’t face as much. There are many good original films like Jhund, Runway 34, Gangubai Kathiawadi, Uunchai, Jogi, Brahmastra, Ram Setu, Dr. G. Monica O My Darling, etc. Remakes like Jersey and Drishyam 2 were better.

They went to Ranveer, Hrithik, Yash and Vijay Deverakonda. They all said no. They went to Deverakomda because no actor wanted to touch this franchise but Karan Johar had a personal relationship with him, which could be leveraged. Even then he said no.

You announce a star first because it helps with financing. You honestly think any star in South India will ask for a script for Vikram 2? No because it is an hugely successful franchise in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. You add your fans to the existing fan base for the franchise and make it a massive hit. No one is sure if Brahmastra viewers will return for part 2
Fact is it was Dharma who was spreading the rumors with Yash. They know that it is hard to finance the second part because the movie failed in the South and some of the Metros. If you look at any of the so called pan India movies 75% of their collection came from overseas or the South. Granted those are Telugu or Kannada movies. So a Bollywood movie can survive without those regions if the budget is below 100 crores. Even then they will need massive collections from Mumbai and NCR who account for 60 to 65% of collection. This was true of Brahmastra. The movie did not make money because of budget which was partially the fault of covid. However there is no gaurantee that part 2 will have that kind of pull in Mumbai, NCR nor can it be mounted for 100 cr or less. So they needed a bankable Southern superstar. People are not joining Brahmastra 2 because they might have to carry the whole franchise and if they are going to do that anyway they might as well do for their own vision not someone else's

Hindi market is a very different now. Films like KFG2, RRR worked but PSI and Vikram didn’t. Why didn’t they connect with the Hindi audience. Top Gun, Jurassic Park, Black Panther are big hits everywhere except Hindi market. Why didn’t they connect? Laal Singh Chaddha has very high audience reviews (90% Rotten Tomatoes) but Hindi box office was weak while overseas was very good. One reason is false negativity of people who comment and review films without seeing them. This is something other industries don’t face as much. There are many good original films like Jhund, Runway 34, Gangubai Kathiawadi, Uunchai, Jogi, Brahmastra, Ram Setu, Dr. G. Monica O My Darling, etc. Remakes like Jersey and Drishyam 2 were better.
