    I have land in the southern colorado Rockies, with less than 10 inches a year. When it does rain, it's gone in a few hours. I have swales and created pans where I can to allow more to soak in, but I have been told "don't do that, it's illegal ". It maybe contrary to the set of rules we live by, but it's not contrary to what is RIGHT.
    If more of the swales were maintained, instead of destroyed years ago, perhaps the aquifers would have more water in them from saturation, instead of just flooding downstream. I don't pump, or use that water, it just soaks in, or evaporates. The county I live in has room for trillions of gallons of water to saturate the land, but instead it's gone in a flash flood.
    I have ideas to help, but I lack tenacity and finances, only so much a disabled veteran can do while the VA is waiting for me to die.

      Great stuff I've started my hillside terraces and swale banks along with rainwater catching with the hope and aim to put in a bore well in the future. Keep it up i believe these practices will solve the Western water issues.

    There are many natural tanks with trapped cold fresh water varying in size.
    Some are miles wide and long in ancient seas of sand.

    Is the water in aquifers replenished? If so from where and in what sort if quantities. We hear these days of aquifers drying out. I am mindful that I need food, water, and shelter to stay alive. I can build a shelter, and except in extreme circumstances I can find food. Without water I would die within a few days.

      @@Jj-gi2uv 3000 foot deep water well would be the deepest I ever heard of and would be incredibly expensive. I live just east of Tucson and have my own well thats 750 foot deep and thats considered very deep. Ive owned this well for over 30yrs and have done all maintenance. The pumps you would need to pump up from 3000 feet would be big and expensive. A 700 ft well drilled with a submersible pump with a pressure system and 5000 gallon tank is around $50000.

    What has been ignored is that well injection of aquifers is quickly destructive of aquifers. You can't use an aquifer as a transit tunnel. The water becomes undrinkable from dissolved solids well injection will result in sweet water.

    • @markcampbell7577
      @markcampbell7577 2 роки тому

      It is better to build transit tunnel reservoir system so that most of the water is stored under ground but in actual transit tunnels. Edison generators and dynamos can replace hydroelectric power plants and waste of water to generate electricity. Purify water and sent back to the river becomes practical solution with Edison generators and dynamos to replace hydroelectric power and water pumping.
