It's 2023 and I still find myself coming back to this - such a phenomenal performance! Who else is with me this year??
Yes... medicine for my soul....
Right here with you bud
This waiata is mean as to listen to after along day at mahi and just chill out and have a few beersies

One of the best performances, period. ❤️
IMO one of thee best live performances of all time.

It's 2024, and this is still Chris and Justin's best performance.
I absolutely Love this performance!!!
And if it's the only performance they ever do (together) then yes it's their best one! 😅
😂
I mean they brought the absolute house down. I never get tired of rewatching it.
You're correct
I'm watching this in 2023, and this is still by far one of my favorite live music performances of all time.
One of the best musical collaborations ever!
This was done perfectly. Very memorable

Absolutely, she sings Harmonies so effortlessly and has a beautiful tone which compliments Chris 100%
I'm a black chick that's not a country music fan but babyyyyyy let me tell you.. I have been obsessed with this performance since 2015. This performance made me love Chris Stapleton... that man has so much soul. I've always been a fan of Justin T so that wasn't anything new... This performance was so much fire. It just popped in my head to pull up. Still trippin over this in 2023.
Amen! Country gets a bad rap because of all the mainstream bullshit and because of the things associated with the stereotypical "country fan." Once you get into the good shit, it's a lot of soul, a lot of talent, and a lot of really kind and accepting people.
Yeah
Straight 🔥🔥🔥
I was thinking the same thing. Justin is good but Chris Stapleton is on another level in my opinion in this genre. Justin x timbaland is one of the best combos of all time. If this was a group Chris is lead singer 😅

This still stands apart as one of the finest awards show musical performances of all time, regardless of genre. This is one of the rare performances that can be classified as "iconic."
Facts 💯
And its not even close. Greatest performance of all time. You can simply tell its so great by how much Stapleton, JT, and Chris' wife get into it.

I had no idea Justin Timberlake could do this. Phenomemal performance! Respect :)
Justin a bad boy on that stage! Seen him 3 times now live!
Justin has a voice that’s so versatile he could do any genre he wanted. He’s insanely talented.
He is incredibly talented. He plays piano and guitar amazingly
Can we acknowledge the HORN SECTION 💜
Good god , brilliant!!’
I first saw Drink You Away on the AMA awards. First Timberlake song worth listening to for my old ears, but his band is incredible. This version is great, but I miss the Hammond B3 of the AMA performance. Probably just the mix on this track. And yes, awesome horn section and a great arrangement.
So much going on and all blending beautifully. Horns are insane. If you concentrate on just the horns they take you on a roller coaster ride.
Them HORNS man! Franks hot sauce commercial says, "You can put that sh-t on everything!"
Also loved how Chris stepped back and let Justin do his thing, but when it was time for Chris to show up he SHOWED UP AND STEPPED OUT FRFR!!!
No offense but Justin Timberlake can't sing this song thr way Chris can. He's great for pop and pop/blues genres but he doesn't have that rich, natural TONE
Unreal !!!
@@karencarney7595 I don't think he tried to
Chris is from the school of “if you stay ready you ain’t gotta get ready”
2024 and i still get chills from that transition and ending
This is the best song that Timberlake has ever performed. This live version with Chris is million times better than the solo album version that Justin did. The arrangement with the Stax Horns with the Memphis Blues was perfect.
THIS is what music is supposed to be. Energy, fun, soul, passion and actual people playing real instruments.
YES
Very rare, unfortunately. No tracks, just performing.
Exactly!! Yes and yes. Artists who lipsync are unsure of their talents. These two are oozing it and they know it, do it effortlessly, For Us!
And artists who respect each other regardless of genre.
I also love that Keith Urbana’s face reflects what the entire world knows: epic performance by musical geniuses.
That's true ... he looks proud of JT and Chris ... I guess that got the "mom" comments below.
And keith is so talented. Takes one to know one!!
Everyone they showed in the crowd new what they were watching was special.
I know... He was glowing with Joy. That night , in my adopted home of Nashville, everyone was a FAN !
The way Justin bends those high notes! OMG 🔥 🔥
Came in for tennesse whiskey, stayed for drink you away. I'm not big country but this transcend music genre. From 6:00 to 6:59 is simply the best live 60 sec of music I have heard in my life.
Keith Urban looking like the mom from mean girl’s still makes me laugh
Hahahaha. Wtf.
He looks like an absolute tool
He's not a regular mom. He's a cool mom.
Haha. Fucking gold comment
I distinctly remember laying on my couch barely paying attention to this award show. The first sound came out of Chris’s mouth and I instantly sat up because I knew something special was happening. One of the best performances I’ve ever watched.
Right there with you, as soon as he played those first few notes on the guitar my ears just felt like they perked up, I immediately felt connected by my soul to Chris's music ever since.
Exact same I was on my IPad not paying attention until he started, since I’ve been to three live shows and it gets better every time. Well worth the money.
There are no words .... just a moment I am so blessed to have known... and I keep going back again and again ...

Can we show their bands some love? Both of their bands were having a freaking BLAST and it showed!
Whoever put these two together is BRILLIANT!!! This is a collab I didn’t know I needed in my life. OMGOSH. SOOOOO freaking good!!

I can't get enough of them!!!!
@@jdub2100 who's the woman singer?

Hello Suzanne, How are you doing today?
Justin is such a great live performer. Sometimes he plays guitar. Sometimes piano. Sometimes keyboard. Or he can do a full out choreographed routine. Not many artists have that versatility.
As someone with no great respect for the majority of modern pop music JT and David Fincher may be the best production team when it comes to music videos and performances since michael jackson
@@steelwarrior105 agreed.
You are so right. JT is so multi-talented. It's just natural too.
His voice is his best attribute
I've seen him perform live and watching it on tv does not compare...it doesn't even come close
This will forever go down as the night that made Chris Stapleton. I believe that Justin Timberlakes stage presence and confidence flipped a switch in Chris that night. The moment Justin says sing it Chris and he absolutely nails that note and judging my Chris and Morganes reaction they knew this was it. The rest is history and he blew up overnight❤ Chris Stapleton is now my all time favorite artist and musician

Well it is. Memphis choir is no joke. That’s who Elvis had sing at his performances quite a bit. He also had quartet’s show up as back up at the same time. When they did Elvis would always leave a spot where you get to hear the choir or quartet. They would sing songs out of the hymns or national songs for the USA. Elvis would turn around to watch the Memphis Choir sing along with the audience as you got to see the talent behind Elvis and how all the magic took place.
